*clicks on video to learn about Indigenous people and health care in Canada. Hears about a minute of info on the topic then 5 of how white man bad* the hell?
Trying to learn about the racism that affects our indigenous peoples in Canada, and while this video quickly makes several assertions, there are no stats or citations to follow-up on any of these claims. I find it hard to believe that the 24 pages across 5 books listed under references provide enough information to support the great many claims made in this video. Links to StatsCan or the RCMP, or even CBC/Macleans/etc would be very helpful in following up. This video doesn't foster learning as much as it could.
If you are worried about verifying statistics you have completely missed the point of this video. The references are listed at the end of the video. If you are wondering why StatsCan isn't included, here is a resource for you to read that explains the challenges in collecting data on Indigenous Peoples: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4716822/
