    Cheers all for your kind comments. This was by no means a how to, if anyone would like me to do a proper how to showing you the materials e.c.t. pop a reply comment to this or give it a like. Cheers

    Wow. When you first wiped the wash away, I was like "I dunno about this" but as the video went on, it got better and better looking. I need to try the Humbrol powder, I see! It helps that the 45xx are my favourite GWR locos.

    Great video and very informative for beginners. I have been tempted to weather some of my locos but has been scared to tackle the projects of weathering. Your video has given me the information and answered all my questions. Thank you and keep up the great work.

    Nice to see some of us still weather by hand. I also use that Halfords matt varnish after years of not getting on with Humbrol and Railmatch varnish aerosols. Like the use of the white pencil. Good video

      +Brockwell Lane thankyou, yes I see no problem with Halfords, it does the job.

    Thanks James, that was a rather informative vid, especially when it's showing off all the little things you do/use. It's also nice to see more people using the electroswing style in their time lapses, it makes for a really nice video. Overall, it's pretty much just another one of your great vids.

    Very nicely done tutorial. I really like the all over 'smoke' weathering, and I do actually like the plain green - it somehow works :P Haven't really thought about weathering my stock much, but I should probably get around to it!

    Superb work indeed mate! Very well filmed and documented! :) What was that paint you used for the black wash? Plus the dirty brown on the connecting rods? What mix was it? Really is so effective! Also what did you use to remove the lettering and numbers from the buffer beams? Very clever tip with the white pencil for the water marks. Also what software did you use for the time-lapse? Sorry for all the questions. :p Make me wish I had more time to sit down and get weathering again myself. Superb work indeed and thanks for sharing!

    Great tips and techniques but the white pencil streaks, I can't believe you did not blend them into the paint. They look a bit iffy, otherwise a great grime look.

    Nice job, and something I would attempt myself, but I'm paranoid about gumming-up the motion on my locos with lacquer or powder. How do you avoid it?

  • @theredcrane25

    Quick little question, what chemical/paint did you use to loose the front running numbers on the buffer beam?

    Thats a brilliant outcome there mate! Wen u spray the matt laquer, do u mask off any running gear/wheels? Or is it fine to do that without covering them? Cheers

  • @TheWGLOVER
    @TheWGLOVER 8 лет назад

    Very effective. Do you seal the finish on completion?

  • @Games20210
    @Games20210 8 лет назад

    When you put on the lacquer did you have to be careful of the wheel and moving part or is it fine ?

    • @JamesSimpsonn
      @JamesSimpsonn  8 лет назад

      +Games202 i seperate the body from the chassis (removing the screws before weathering so you dont ruin it) then spray the body and do a lighter coat on the chassis. once its been oiled and run in it'll wear down the lacquer on the moving parts.

    One thing you should not get weathering powder round the wheels and rods, act like sand paper on bearings and cranks.

    • @JamesSimpsonn
