I really dig this cover of Corduroy... I think it was creative and effective. I remember it got a lot of negativity at the time, which is expected when you take a anytime you adjust the song so much...but I think that was underserved criticism. The Alive cover is a little hard for me to watch.... The singer's performance is worse than me at karaoke night.
I’m impressed with Corduroy. It has more of the feel of the original release by PJ compared to how they play it now, and PJs live versions have not really done the song justice for a long time, I know, it’s hard to imagine.
These songs don’t seem to work well for country artists. I love country music, but we take for granted the strength of emotion that Ed always put into these songs. Not every one can pull this off... even with Mike M’s blazing guitar.
From Fallon show. ➡ Robin Pecknold & Dan Rossen - Corduroy (Pearl Jam Week | 10/22/2013) [Pearl Jam cover] ➡ Dierks Bentley, the Roots & Mike McCready - Alive (Pearl Jam Week | 10/23/2013) [Pearl Jam cover]
Dope cover. Corduroy got me hooked on Pearl Jam many years ago
The guitarist next to Robin is Daniel Rossen From Grizzly Bear! :)
The drummer is Chris Bear, also from Grizzly Bear. (6 months later)
Christopher Alvillar Oh, I did not recognized him at first glance.
@@calvillarYT The drummer's Neal Morgan (2 months later)
@@wifeofgob I see that now! The nose didn't fit. Gotta love 240p

Such a cool cover of Corduroy!!! Well done!! 🔥🎸🎸🔥
Robin Pecknold ... you fucking rock, sir.
Here you realize how much power Vedder and company have.
Terra Ping Poweeeerful Lord Vedder
i like when people cover songs and make it their own.
I love the first one. And I've been looking for it for a long time. Wish it could be louder. Thanks man!
Oallright agree! They really transformed Corduroy and made it their own vs. trying to copy PJ’s style. Love this cover!
Hear hear, I've been looking the same thing for what must be years now - thank you for posting!
rockin robin
shame on the video quality - 240p, but the audio was OK and Mike goin' off as he does is always amazeballs so this is redeemed 😎

you take Drugs dude?
Unique! I likely
I like it.
His voice simply does not have the gravity that Vedder’s does.

Yes. This song is only good because of Vedder’s emotion. This is neutered and safe
If you hate this, you probably have tribal tattoos.
😂😂 Robin's version is better than the other guy's tho
No tribal tats but these guys have nothing on Vedder and pearl jam. Dierks did a lot better. But it's hard to hit that soul of ed.
No tattoos and it still sucks ass.
This is just soulless crap. No tattooed here. This guy doesn’t get it
@@TheEarlHaight Soul? The musicianship is what I’m paying mind to.
It’s like if REM did it haha 😂
Also I didn’t like it
What show were these on? And is the second one with the roots?

Millennial butchery….
A perfect demonstration of why C&W will always, always be mediocre, even at its most competently performed.
What?
@@RobbyRaccoon I think the expression is "whut?"
@@MarkSilcox-f5p I said what I meant. Genuinely curious what you're on about.
Alive was slightly better than Corduroy. Thank God Mike was there to save the day. Amazing guitarist
No way... Corduroy was way cooler... The Alive cover is cringeworthy.
This song didn’t suit his vocal range. It just doesn’t sound good:(
Love FF, but don’t ever cover PJ, and never ever cover Corduroy, which is probably their best song.
First song has tuning issues, second is just all-around sloppy and adds nothing to the original material.
That sucked.
Hahaha
Poor Mike. Having to hear two of his bands songs utterly raped liked that couldn’t have been pleasant.
worst 9 minutes of my life ,one as bad as the other
Country Alive was far worse... Except the guitar solo was perfect for some reason.
@@chrisdriver7776 That reason is Mike McCready
Such a horrible cover
