My best attempt at annotating all of the music in this wonderful film. (I’d welcome corrections / thoughts!) 0:00 - fingerpicking from the beginning section of "The Cascades" 1:04 - cover of "That Lonesome Road" written by Gene Austin and Nathaniel Shilkret (though Robin is playing the a rendition closest to John Jacob Niles) 3:01 - vocalizing in sound check - sounds to me like "gold teeth and gold jewelry…" from "Montezuma" (which would match the timeframe well), though others in the comments have mentioned that it sounds to them like "Third of May" 4:11 - "Silver Dagger" - folk song with origins in the early 19th century; made popular in the 1960s by Joan Baez 5:52 - "White Lace Regretfully" (demo available on the First Collection 2006-2009; the original idea being for this to transition into "The Plains / Bitter Dancer"; full performance of this lovely song (and the rest of Robin’s performance from MusicNOW, for that matter) at 18 : 26 of "Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes at MusicNOW" ruclips.net/video/Tmn3ttrXYIg/видео.html). 6:40 - (transition from performance above to same tune in hotel room) 7:11 - very short clip from Joanna Newsom’s song "’81" 7:27 - impressive tambura and fiddle warm ups by Ryan Francesconi and Mirabai Peart (as someone points out below, they were part of Joanna Newsom's backing band during that tour). 8:38 - cover of "Blues Run the Game" by Jackson C. Frank 11:39 - fingerpicking "The Shrine / An Argument" 12:08 - beautiful bridge to "Blue Spotted Tail" - you can find the full version of this, starting at 1 : 40 here: ruclips.net/video/QonFFPzehrQ/видео.html. Robin also hums the melody from this bridge in the studio version of the song 13:19 - "Blues Run the Game" performed by Jackson C. Frank
Robin's voice sounds phenomenal in the video. On this minitour, his voice was at an intermediate stage between the raspier/lower tone of the first record and the higher pitch of his most recent tour. But he has sounded amazing throughout his career; his voice just seems super healthy here.
Wow! Am gone on 1 of those metaphorical voyages that this world wide web enables one do. Up to about 48 hours ago I thought that song about the blues was a Pecknold or Fleet Foxes song. Since then I'm on a voyage discovering Jackson C Frank. Robert's version: brilliant.
He's so talented&adorable&funny!!! This is such a great and sweet doc :) I just saw FF live less than a week ago. One of the best concerts of my life for sure! LOVE FF&LOVE ROBIN
About the song at 5:50: "It's called White Lace, Regretfully and will be on a 7'' that comes out with my sisters new magazine hopefully!" -Robin, from his twitter account.
As someone else points out here, there is a complete live version of this in the second half of this MusicNow performance clip: ruclips.net/video/QonFFPzehrQ/видео.html
10:45 the little whistle he does hear sounds just like the one in Bunny Is A Rider by Caroline Polachek. It's even in the same key. please let me know if anyone knows what I'm talking about lol
It's a cover of "That Lonesome Road" written by Gene Austin and Nathaniel Shilkret (though Robin is playing the a rendition closest to John Jacob Niles)
I dont get this,, 2 years after releasing one of the best albums of the decade he's opening for joanna newsom???imagine turning up "hey I think i'll; catch the support act,,,WTF!!! where did this guy come from???
do you know if the version of "blue spotted tail" performed in this video is available for download anywhere? it's my sister's favorite song and i'd like to get it for her.
Yeah, they were Great. I started googling some of the people in the special thanks mention and I found that Ryan Francesco and Mirabai Peart perform together. And also I believe they were part of Joanna newsom's backing band during that tour 2010-2011 ruclips.net/video/YRM1bXkRQZw/видео.html

Wow, Robin is really young here. Still with that amazing voice... 💙
Robin is my favorite tenor in the universe. His voice is so warm and euphoric like I've known it all my life.
I envy his relationship with his siblings so much
He has one of the most enjoyable voices I've ever heard. I will always be a fan! Keep making music man!!
3.05 he's soundchecking 3rd May/Odaigahara... watching this in 2017 Crack Up is about to come out. Goosebumps.

it's from the "shrine/an arguement" but he doesn't finger pick it in any other version than this one, as far as I know. So cool though!!!
so great
Beautiful cover of Jackson C Frank's "Blues run the game".
"I thought he was 38!" hahahaha CUTE!
Pecknold-the most successful family ever.
It's really interesting watching this now that Helplessness Blues has been out for a while, and you can hear how he's working on some of those songs.
Thanks
Really wish I had a version of Blue Spotted Tail that had the verse Robin is singing in this video at 12:10. So good!
I believe the cascades from Helplessness Blues. Or it sounds like the chords from that particular song.
ROBIN WHERE ARE YOU?!
He's touring again with Joanna real soon here! They're coming to SLC UT, but it's a 21+ show so I can't go. I can't tell you how sad I am.
+Zach Reid I may do that. Hopefully.
1:12 - Fuck. Goosebumps.
@MrCryptic55 "An Argument" part in "The Shine/An Argument" on the new LP
nope not nick d. it's originally by jackson c. frank and that's the version i think he's covering.
i want a robin solo album right fucking now
Does this share footage with the video for Other Lives' 'Tamer Animals?' The sort of animated city.
Joanna Newsom is probably the cutest human to exist
I'm dying to find a version of Blue Spotted Tail with the bridge in it that Robin sings between 12:10-13:00.
As someone else points out here, there is a complete live version of this in the second half of this MusicNow performance clip: ruclips.net/video/QonFFPzehrQ/видео.html
