The boy is exactly as you hope he'd be, cool but rude, and looks like the devil form is more at the forefront than ever since its been moved to the heat system now instead of being tied to rage! I'm so used to ArcSys trailers where they'll show you like 12 seconds of gameplay for their characters, that I was astounded on how great this trailer was

I hope this trailer means a steady flow of trailers for everyone else thats been shown so far like Jack/King/Paul/Lars etc! Make sure to check the video linked at the end of this one if any of the heat lingo confuses you, as we've gone over it all before.

Hey Roofle, great video but there is a correction at @7:03, that IS a heat engager. The effects are the same with the second engager we see later on at @8:06 with the screen darkening and slow down, as well as the lack of a wind/whirlwind burst when he dashes. If you look back at your systems breakdown (you actually had it at the beginning with Paul) you can see that the heat dash has a big wind burst but no screen darkening effect nor slow down. Also in both cases for Kazuya, we see him turn into devil form as the attacks come out and hit; he wasn't in devil form prior to the moves' start ups. Just wanted to share this man. Keep up the great work, and looking forward to more of your breakdowns!
The thing I like the most about this trailer is how menacing Kazuya is. Especially in the shot where he’s staring at the camera in devil form. You can imagine him marching into a business meeting at G-Corp and everyone falls deathly silent.
Yep. Reminds me of his T6 ending where he emerges the pyramid holding devil Jin's body. The way he stares at the Tekken Force, that same expression 👌🏾.
I guess with Heihachi gone they are gonna give Kazuya moves of his. Maybe the same deal with Jin if Devil Jin is not a separate character. Works for me.

It is Lenne Hardt, same one from Yakuza 0, not sure if others. She was also the VA for Anna in Tekken 5 and it's a famous announcer for IRL Mix martial arts and wrestling in Japan. Cool old lady.
Kazuya's been learning some new tricks. I personally like that he took notes from his former rival, Paul for one of his strings. With what looks like bounds returning in place of T7's Screw/Tail Spin, we'll have to re-adjust our combo routes accordingly.

In Tekken 2 kazuya was the final boss as the devil form. Seeing him now in tekken 8 really gives a reminiscence vibe the heat burst devil mode and combo strings are so smooth and the electric power attacks gives that solid pounding impacts. The wall splat electric charge kind of parry reminds me of his father heihachi from the old games like tekken 3 I also loved his eye laser turning blue or purple now in a demon form he shares a lot of devil Jin’ movesets so harada is taking tekken games to next gen approach and he’s going to uproar the tekken fans for tekken games and years to come and finally his super rage art electric stomp was so eerie to watch and satisfying the graphics and stages are clean too
one thought about bound instead instead of screw as a combo extender mechanic, is that a lot of screw moves in T7 contributed quite a bit of wall carry, and it looks like a lot of bound moves are more like a closer range splat, this could be part of an effort to reduce the wall carry of combos in general.
I think what you're saying is his back 2,1 is actually a back 2,2 since he hits his opponent with his right arm twice(after the thunder God fist bound)
of note: i can't really say for certain but it REALLY sounds like the announcer for these trailers is Lenne Hardt, former voice actress for anna williams AND big-name announcer over in the world of japanese pro wrestling! she also announces for a kinnikuman video game and puts her WHOLE lungs into it
8:25 He has that move in T7 story mode when you fight him as Heihachi. He shouts "feel the power of the devil" or something like that as begins the animation. Glad to see a lot of new animations instead of typical legacy stuff that gets tweaked solely to accommodate a new system (bound, tailspin, etc).
8:37 Roof that move is the Devil Activation from T7. Also has those same armor properties with a knockdown. However, I don’t think it does damage and Kaz may even take damage. I can’t Remember.
Great time for Kazuya mains, design is badass and one of his best redesigns period, suprised at the new options from moves like 122, hellsweep, & combo extensions from bound not counting whatever else he'll get from dash. One of the best trailer showings of T8 imo since the intial reveal.
Keep in mind, Kaz's last fight was against some boy with a key, a little electric rodent, and Ryu. They might be pulling some inspiration from Smash. Hopefully
Great video but just a minor correction: his ff2 seems to be a heat engager because for a split second before landing the move you can see he's not in devil form (or heat mode). also the heat dash has a slightly different visual and audio effect (like after df 1,2 @8:45) than the automatic dash they do after a heat engager. getting hit by his ff2 seems pretty scary, you end up in a nasty 50/50 with his heat smash lol.
at 5:09 that's not back 2, 1 if you look closely you can see he uses his right hand for both hits, so a new move which would probably be back 2, 2. this is relevant because not only is it a new move, but we can also guess he still has the move that tailspins.
The Heat System feels like T8 is taking a page from SamSho's Rage Gauge, when entered you gain access to higher damage and additional moves? I would if Tekken Project saw how Project Soul implemented Haohmaru's Rage Gauge mechanics for SC6 and got the idea for thir Heat System? Wouldn't surprise me if so, sense Papa Harada is really good pals with multiple SNK teams.
I mean, I don’t think a gameplay for Kaz was necessary since we’ve already seen some gameplay snippets from him. But, it’s nice that they’re showing off legacy/returning characters. Now we need a Jin trailer soon to even it out.

Kazuya B+2,1 does not tailspin cause the hit animation is different. In fact, going by the hand, it might just be B+2,2 instead. In T7 he does the spinning left hook, while in the T8 trailer he goes for a right back hand instead.
Do u think theres any secrets or clues in the background of this stage? There seems to be a coffee shop owned by leroy. Also a billboard with a classy high heel with the name “william teal”. Maybe leroy and anna will be base roster?
oh im sure there is, in the city stage theres straight up a statue of leroy and his dog. Sometimes the easter eggs are only that, but I feel Leroy is popular enough he will show up again, they even retconned Tekken 3 to put him into it in that netflix anime.
Kazuya looks strong but the side step looks like standard side step. I'm waiting for one of my main either Miguel, Julia, or Lidia to show up and makes me a bit more hype for this game.
Lots of chars seem to be doubling down on a weapon gimmick of some sort(although not all), going hard on the chainsaws would be a strong possibility for Alisa keeping that in mind.
Looking fantastic. Though on the visual side I would have liked them to maybe give Kaz a little gray in his temples or something. Devil genetics or not, he's been perpetually 37 for like 25 years now. New strings looking kinda spicy too...
Nina has been 24 for over 30 years. Other than a select few bandai namco in general seems to be terrified of aging their characters in any game. Forget it extra if its a lady, only woman in fighting game history that was allowed to look older over time is Sonya in MK.

Dunno if the capture is just subpar, but this is far less visually impressive than the first trailer . Aside from the post-processing downgrade, the reflections on the ground are clearly not raytraced. I'll have to say, SF6 is looking much better. Still hoping both games hit the ground running, but my opinion of both games has flipped since they were both revealed.
A lot of my friends don't want to get this Tekken 8 unfortunately cuz they think they added way too many comeback mechanics in it I'm still going to get it because I've gotten every single Tekken was sort of disappointing a lot of games these days have a bunch of comeback mechanics in it in a bunch of super armor and other stuff which isn't my favorite thing but it doesn't bother me as much as it does other people
Well its got no comeback mechanic besides rage, and rage is strictly worse cause it lost rage drives as a thing. With heat system the game is favouring defense less and less honestly.
