Congratulations on the best instruction vid yet. Im retired since 2011 and started welding in the 60s. We had to learn on the job until AWS kicked in early on then we had welder certification. Ive welded everything from cast iron to lead. My AWS CWI expired many years ago after old age and bad knees got me. Its good that you teach these young welders what they need to excel in the craft. There's a special place in my heart for a skilled craftsman. RTR
I always jus find a spot the grinder will fit and and open the gap enough to get my wire in then back feed havent ripped a gap open and years shitty fitters are everywhere so nice vid bud it should help somebody outthere
If you want to learn to PIPE WELD. Go to Alabama Pipe Welders Academy. They pay you while in school you get a completion bonus. It’s 16 weeks. You get all your tools and a guaranteed job afterwards. Oh !! the kicker the employer pays your tuition. So it’s debt free. 1st Class training. They have Lowest Student teacher ratio in the country. 1:5
Definitely going to try this out at work. Alot of my fits I got to do have really tight gaps with 3/32-1/8 landings and it's always a struggle to get in my tack welds.
Hell we train DOD employees already. You should come down and get a custom 2 week program. I will personally give you a set of tips. We are training a couple of CIV MAR commands. Hook us up on the NAVSEA side. We will certainly hook y’all up. We should be in your vender list.
On an upcoming video, could you give some advice on how to maneuver around both sides of the pipe on a downhill 6G? Or tips on using both hands. Having consistency problems on my off-hand side.
+Brandon Hernandez I like to get the puddle moving but keep it small. Then when I feel it’s liquid enough to feed through I add wire through the center of the puddle like throwing a dart I can feel it pushing through and then walk up a little and repeat. If your having trouble turn the amps up. Remember 3/32 filler no 1/8
This is just great ! Would help much on my 16" pipes where we tig the root pass and the backfeeding is pretty hard xD ,would love to try these ! Send me some details plzzzz . Greetz and keep up your good work!
As always good worx man. Informative info for getting out of a bind. Since I’ve bn welding I always study ur film and always pick up something new even if it’s the same film watched over and over again.S/O to Bama PWA.
Opinions from anyone! I’d like to take my welding career in a new direction. I’m 21. Pretty fresh to it. And have opportunities to be a Pipeliner or boilermaker, any pros or cons? Which would you choose?
Alabama Pipe Welders Academy I was really working towards working in nuclear power plants. But I have 0 idea of how to get started. Then both of these opportunities came up, just curious of what a experienced welder would choose.
What size tig torch are you using for the root pass ? Is it water cooled etc. I just have an air cooled no 26 torch for when i start leaning pipe welding. Thanks Mike
If I was a young man wanting to go to school to learn to weld.... this would be the school to go to.... you can obviously tell they ain't 1 trick ponys.... any good welder isnt a 1 trick pony

Does this work with some of the s-2 wire? I think it runs different with certain brands but all the times I’ve ran it, I had to back feed it to keep the bottom from sucking back. The way your bead looks like maybe s-6?
that root is not good, it is not recommended, it would not pass the tests, it should be about a mm in the inner part and be the uniform cord, the melting bath has come down, and it is bad irregular?.👀😱
I’ll put money down for those tungsten tips he’ll I know two midwestern air gas vps and presidents. Contact me and I’d love to pass on the connection with air gas and help you get your awesome product out to all the welders who want to use them.

So dip wire and keep the puddle small and in the center. But point the tungsten at an angle?

+Dinga Ling Pipeline go for it. Be your own boss plus there is a lot bad stuff in boilers. For your health that is.
Alabama Pipe Welders Academy I was really working towards working in nuclear power plants. But I have 0 idea of how to get started. Then both of these opportunities came up, just curious of what a experienced welder would choose.

All the best :) . Great welding there . I am from Croatia ( Europe) can you send me 1 of those tips ?
I’m very interested in these tungsten tips.
Awesome product I'd love to try
Could you use a smaller diameter filler rod instead of this technique
What size tig torch are you using for the root pass ? Is it water cooled etc. I just have an air cooled no 26 torch for when i start leaning pipe welding. Thanks Mike

Do you guys have any videos on a 6010 shc 80 6 G bend test?

Were can I get these tips?
Awesome tungsten where to buy it bro?

very good techniques, nice root
Those tips out on the market yet by chance?

What percentage of dig/arcforce do you use ? When welding tig on that miller ?
Great, I weld like that but I like back feeding lol 😁

Yall got a link or a product name
Ide like to get my hands on some of that tungsten to try it. Looks like that would be the trick there
What happens when u dip a tip u regrind it or just throw it away?
+Chris Playz regrind or replace. They are going to have a swap out program where you send the old ones back for a discount.
No 5 👍
+drumtwo4seven thanks for the feedback we should have some this month for samples.
So 144 amps and when you add wire is it like a key home dip or just not letting key hole and just adding wire to the edge of the puddle
Jesse Davis add the wire to the center of the puddle at an angle
How do I order these tungsten
scottsmantools.com/collections/all
9 out of 10 men like a tight root
Lol says pros dont dip their tungsten then bam he dips the tungsten
that root is not good, it is not recommended, it would not pass the tests, it should be about a mm in the inner part and be the uniform cord, the melting bath has come down, and it is bad irregular?.👀😱
Over 1/8 reinforment, that would be rejected by inspector.
Robert it is a 1/16 and usually just over flush after the hot pass.
That is in no way over 1/8" reinforcement
young welders , take this advice , learn to tig weld
Not the way to do it
Those removable tips are a joke how are you supposed to keep sharing them?
