  • Back in the 1990s, New Hampshire-based Douglas Cuddle Toys Co. used to be specializing in manufacturing oversized promotional plushies for Disney. One of their pieces has been a massive, 40" / 1 meter long Adult Simba, which served mainly as a prize raffled off in sweepstakes run by Nestlé to celebrate the release of Disney's beloved 1994 animated classic, The Lion King. As a non-retail item, this nearly lifesize model of the Rightful King of Pride Rock is one of the most-sought items in the TLK merchandise universe and delights with its fine plush and lovely smile on his face. Learn more about him in this episode of Kitwana's Toys!

I had one for a while a few years back when I was on a childhood nostalgia kick. This thing was in my *dreams*. A bit too stiff/more of a display thing but with a really beautiful shape. I wish they had just stuffed the head with urethane foam and not the body.
30 years, huh. Seems like it was yesterday, now it's over a generation ago.
I wonder if a "garage goods" version would be feasible, taking advantage of improved CAD, thread shaping, and embroidery to get that nice shape with a fully soft head.

I remember that when I was a kid. A girl in my elementary school class had one and we were all jealous.
