Another piece of context to go with Tybalt's death coming after the marriage could be that Shakespeare lost a son around the time he was writing Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare could be indicating how marriage leads to disaster - had he not married Anne Hathaway, he would not have had a son and this tragic loss of young, promising life would not have occurred, similar to how if Romeo had not married Juliet, he would not be feeling this compassion towards Tybalt, and could have prevented the deaths of two young men.
This video was so helpful... I watched from start to finish and you are excellent at explaining concepts and ideas. Thank you so much for making this :)
Currently, a Year 11 student and I am so grateful to have come by this video it explains so many high-level ideas and I'm feeling much more confident. All the ideas have come out of my mind and with your help in I am able to note them down in a much more concise and structured way. Thank you!!!
20:54 ‼guys this part is wrong it lasts 4 days.from Monday to tuesday‼ Mon:before the capulet party when romeo is in love with roseline Tue:capulet part Wed: they get married +romeo gets baished Thurs:they kill them selves
Lovely video by the way! It is really helpful. You're incredibly good at explaining concepts and ideas. My teachers at school can't even explain this well. Great job!!! I was just wondering if the same concepts can be applied to other Shakespeare books like The merchant of Venice, Macbeth, etc.
hello , thanks for making such an in depth video about romeo and juliette. im not a student, but when i was a child i thought romeo and juliette were rather selfish or silly, considering how the couldve gone around the circumstances, or ive often heard that tjey shouldve just waited a bit longer etc. as an adult now, i really feel bad for thm, and i really hope more adults can reflect on the story, especially anyone who has kids. its unfortunate that their childrens love and unity had to wb sacrificed for society. wether fate ot not, its sad their fanilies and society really pushed them to the point they got to.
Sorry but if I understand what you were saying at 27:05 is that if I make a silly mistake, an examiner can mark me down because he/she is in their feelings. Whether it be frustrated that the mistake has been made several times or maybe for example in The Merchant of Venice I bluntly say that Portia is racist when I could say that she discriminating and the person is offended I COULD GET A LOWER MARK??? After all my hard work?? Some random person who doesn't know me can be in their feelings and mark me down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just an idea about the part where you discuss what parents are supposed to take out of the play, whether to give their children more or less freedom, maybe neither was Shakespears intention - is there a reading where it's talking to the parents, comparing their feuds and petty battles to something irrational, with the threat of their children dying if they continue the behavior?
Juliet also goes against religion when she says "he will make the face of heaven so fine" attacking God's ability and power as heaven isn't fine without romeos face it also potrays how she didn't care about religion at all and used it as an excuse knowing religion was practiced to extreme lenghts to allow her to make her own choice - depicting juliets sly nature
Hello, gret video! (I need with Juliet Analysis I'm doing, it about how does Juliet show obedient and respectful, but how she hides her true feelings? ) Thank you if you could help!
Hi sir, I am revising R&J at the moment and I wanted to ask if I should re read it (as I haven’t read it since June/July 2022) or if I should just watch your videos? I feel a bit more confident knowing the storyline and throwing in a few of my own quotes that I’ve picked up into an essay. (I am a Grade 8 student right now and want to get 9)
this is a great video - so helpful thankyou! (is there any way that you will do some in depth analysis of quotes/characters? and also is it possible if you could make some videos on jane eyre? i completely understand as you must be very busy but i just love your videos so much and they have helped me massively - i got a grade 9 in my literature mock thanks to you so i just thought i'd ask)
Hello Sir, I m in year 11, and wanting to achieve my oal, I'm starting to watch your videos because they are amazing and superb in all aspects! So I thank you so much and appreciate your kindness:) May I ask is there a video about a list of all the things needed to get a grade 9?
How many paragraphs would you need for a Romeo and Juliet question and do all paragraphs need to include language and structure devices or can you talk about themes?
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish Thank you for you constant support sir. You truly are the best English teacher. I have a year 10 mock and am trying to cram information as my goals are high.
Excellent video, thanks for the help. So when it says there’s no need for subject terminology, does that mean it’s a possibility to achieve full marks without using any techniques, such as a simile or metaphor? Thanks
not really...foreshadowing is when a hint is given for a future event. e.g. when mercutio says "a plague on both your houses" thats foreshadowing cause a plague stops romeo from getting the letter
I got a grade 8 thanks to this video so THANK YOU!
Well done

You could try that as a reading, but it would contradict Brooke’s source poem, so it would take a lot of effort!

Don't avoid them if they're there!
Why are they examiners if they let their emotions get in the way of people's successes? Should that be allowed???
