Hey roger can you please do a video on catching bull sharks me and my dad have been wanting to do shark fishing but we don’t know if we have the right tackle and the right bait
Great video Rodger. Catching yabbies is one of my earliest fishing memories and is such a valuable skill. Thanks for sharing this. For those considering joining Rodgers Fishing don’t hesitate, it’s such a fantastic resource and an authentic fishing community full of awesome resources.
Great tips mate. The good old pool noodle and cable ties is the perfect flotation device for the sieve and a length of rope to your waist makes for an easy and enjoyable yabby pumping session 🦞
Hi Roger. I used to pump nippers and squirt worms around the Woy Woy Nsw area back in the 1980s. I am 70 now and my 7 year old grandson has gotten me enthused again. Time to dust of the Alvey and Butterworth. See you on the water. Cheers.
THANK YOU SSOOOOOOO MUCH. In my opinion, this is the most useful, professional, and to the point tutorial about pumping yabbies. New comers, you gotta pay attention, each and every tip in this video will make ur session much more better and enjoyable.
Hi ROGER, well done on the video ,what a great bank for yabbies ,more whiting fishing videos please its a big part of my fish targets, whiting summer time, bream and snapper in the winter , Thanks again for your videos. Cheers Chris
Thanks for the video Roger, certainly learned an easier way pumping these nippers. As a follow up video, it would be great if you are able to show us viewers the proper way in baiting a nipper on a hook. Keep up the good work mate!
Roger mate it’s always an absolute pleasure to watch your videos. So informative with the little details you take time to include and not to mention the vast amount of knowledge you possess. Please Keep these amazing videos coming I’ll be sure to tune in!
Hi Roger, I use my sieve with the noodle wrapped round it to put my yabbies in -- I use an aluminium prawn scoop with galvanised rat wire (about 30-40cm deep) with a lever on the handle so that the scoop is on a good angle to pump into. The sieve is tied by a length of thin rope to my belt and towed round as I pump. The whole set up is great for a 1 man pumping excursion.
Hey Roger, you may have seen this already, but if you get a pool noodle and cable tie it around your sieve under the lip/top it allows it to be more self filtering in slightly deeper water. It was a real bonus to me.
A car tyer inner tube works perfectly for holding your sieve, not pumped too hard. Lasts for years. Wear a belt that holds a small bucket with handle, and yes your pump action is spot on.
Roger, not certain if this has been bought up before, just buy a cheap pool noodle around $3 cut a slit in it then place the edge of the sieve into the noodle and feed it along until the sieve is surrounded by the pool noodle then just cut off any surplus noodle. The sieve now floats freely and any sand with the pumped in yabbies just washes away as you move along. Those yabbies with the really big nippers get denippered early on as you can bet when fishing in the dark and reach for a yabby it will get you.
Gday mate used to do this in townsville when i was posted there wait till low tide and spend an hour or so collecting bait still got my alvey pump in the shed havent used it in a long time now .
Great video, thanks for the pointers. Tip for the sieve is to put a bike tyre around it so it floats. But like you demonstrated you really don’t need it.
Hi Roger. Great video (love my yabbying!!). I’m sure you’re doing it as a matter of course - but worthwhile letting viewers know that you should also be checking for eggs under the tail and letting those females go. :-)
HI Roger! Your explanation about sucking the water up and doing the full draw without pushing helped me so much. I usually only pump nippers down in the wollongongarea. Ive really had trouble finding them in the Sydney area where i Live. Is this video in narrabeen lake?
Love the videos, finally someone presenting information for the average angler. Quick question, can you use live poddy mullet from the beach. Thanks for the videos.
Up here in SE QLD yabbies are my go to bait i havent userd live mullet since i was a kid but showing us how easy it was to catch them last week was great but what is the most efective way to rig them in strong current and other slack tide areas it could be a whole topic to cover some time
Great video mate.Do.you find rising tide or falling tide better or worse? What's your tips on avoiding being stranded on a sand bank as your busy pumping nippers on a falling tide? Can you make a video on where to fish in estuaries and what rigs to use when bait fishing and where? Keep up the great work mate.👍
@@RogerOsborneFishing cheers, I was so motivated from the video I actually went and got myself a pump, I went down and started pumping and using your techniques. Within 20mins I had around 25 yabbies and started fishing but I kept losing the yabby without any bites. Looking forward to the next video. Cheers
great video, again! Would it be possible to end your bait catching videos with how you rig them, this would also have been great at the end of the mullet video. I love fishing and often wonder if I am rigging my bait in an incorrect way that reduces my ability to catch fish regularly.
@@RogerOsborneFishing Awesome, this is what is missing in most fishing videos online, and is one of the things most people struggle with. Thanks for your videos, they are great
Roger has shown this in previous videos. In our country we thread them onto the hook then tie with thin elastic cotton as the small fish nibble the bait off faster than you can say "jack frost,"
Thank you for the video, very handy. I aslo watched your beach worm video and i would like to try that(catching beach worms) but dont know what are the recommended beaches in NSW?
Could we have some crab videos. Maybe the best bait that you know of, best depth *for your location* obviously will change from spot to spot but may help
Hi Roger, just wondering where your Video is of catching Flathead on yabbies? Because I can't find it, I wanted to see a video of you catching flathead on yabbies because apparently you have a video of that.
I got taught a dodgy technique by a crispy old sand eater by the name of Lutch. He fishes at Narrabeen, spins a good yarn but his techniques leave a lot to be desired. Great video Rog!!

Thanks John, it's been really great meeting you.
I have been fishing for the last 40yrs but I am still picking up great tips from you, great content from a really good teacher, thankyou.

Great yabbie pump technique and hints. Cheers Roger.
Thanks Nebula.
Once again another great video Roger.
Glad you enjoyed it Sachin.
Zip tie a pool noodle to your sieve and it'll float beside you as you pump into it.
Good video, well done!
Great idea
Thanks Roger, I've just bought a yabbie pump and I'm now confident about giving it a crack without looking to green cheers👍
Excellent 👍🎣

Yes, it's a great idea
Nice work Rog! Pool noodle zip tied to the sieve works ok too. 👌 hope you film using them soon.
Thanks for the tip! I can see how it would work really well.
Love watching your videos, very helpful and informative.
Great video rodg well done
Thanks 👍
Mate, excellent video on how to pump for nippers. Nice and simple 👍
Thanks Trevor, Glad you enjoyed it

Very welcome Ali.

That's a good idea, I'll have to remember that when my pool noodle has had the carrot 🥕

Good advice.
Hi Roger. Here in South Africa, we call them sand prawn/pink prawn.
Really enjoyed this. Woild love to try it some day. Need a pump and to find out where they are in SA. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!

Kelvin, this video is in Burrill Lake. There are some Yabbies in Narrabeen but Bayview in Pittwater is better.
Video on squishing from land would be good.
Funny :)
Rad vid roger. Can’t wait for the estuary live stream. What’s the best way to place the yabbie on the hook?
Cheers
Hi Michael, I have a video on my channel "How to rig and hook live Mullet and Yabbies"
Love the videos, finally someone presenting information for the average angler. Quick question, can you use live poddy mullet from the beach. Thanks for the videos.
Hi Chris, Yes you can! I use them quite often.
Hi Roger I love watching your channel. Where are you fishing today?
Burrill Lake NSW
Hey Roger what's the best way to hook a live yabby or any other live bait, even dead baits. Keep all the videos coming mate they are all great.
Thanks Peter, looks like I need to make another video.
Up here in SE QLD yabbies are my go to bait i havent userd live mullet since i was a kid but showing us how easy it was to catch them last week was great but what is the most efective way to rig them in strong current and other slack tide areas it could be a whole topic to cover some time

Wish I could catch beach worms like you Roger

Hi Fabian, yes I'm planning to do that soon.
Great instruction. How do you put yabbie on hook please.
Hi Nick, video being released on Saturday.
Another excellent video. Thank you.Just noticed that you didn’t remove any nippers off the yabbies. Is there a reason for that?
Hi Colin, no reason, I don't usually remove the nippers.
Hi Roger,
How are you?
How you put yabby in the hook?
Another cracking video mate. What's the best way to hook up the yabby?
Another video to follow.

Mate, just joined your channel. Would be great if you can show how to identify a poddy mullet spot/area
Hi Douglass, you mostly find the poddy mullet on sand bars or shallow sandy areas. Always berley to bring them around.
Great video Roger. Very informative. Are you in Qld? Looks like a nice area where you are.
Hi Ken, I am on the NSW South Coast near Ulladulla.
@@RogerOsborneFishing nice. I’m in shitty Melbourne lol
Thank you for the video, very handy. I aslo watched your beach worm video and i would like to try that(catching beach worms) but dont know what are the recommended beaches in NSW?
Muhanad, nearly all beaches in NSW have Beach Worms.
Hi Roger I have learn a lot from you about fishing Thanks for information. Which state are you ? Is there any yabbies or warm in WA.
Hi Hisham, NSW. There are Yabbies in W.A they call them Pink Nippers.
Mines a pool noodle wrapped around it with a leg rope
Works for me
Excellent 👌
Could we have some crab videos. Maybe the best bait that you know of, best depth *for your location* obviously will change from spot to spot but may help
Good Idea !!
Could you put your sieve in a kiddies floating ring attached to a string and a small weight to stop it floating away?
Absolutely! Jeff
Few different ways to hook up a yabbie Roger, can you show us your way..
Okay, coming up!
G’Day Roger ,can you show me how you hook the nipper without destroying it (like I do)
Hi Roger, just wondering where your Video is of catching Flathead on yabbies?
Because I can't find it, I wanted to see a video of you catching flathead on yabbies because apparently you have a video of that.
Hi Speedway, I have not done a video on that.
Oh ok. Hope you do one soon then.
Which brand of yabbie pump do you recommend? How do you look after your pimp every often..?
👍🎣
In South africa we call them sand prawn or crackers
That looks like you are in Noosa. Maybe I'm wrong.
Trouble with yabbie is that you cannot cast it very far, it doesn't stay on the hook like other bait.
You need to know the special way :)
Cheers, guess who just learned he has been doing it wrong by pushing and pulling at the same time 🤦♂️.
Hi A P, all good, you should do much better next time :)
Floating landing net, thank me later :)
Thanks SK, the net would need to have a fine mesh.
My friend David went fishing today and he didn’t catch anything. I think he’s a bit of a rook of a guy. Can you teach him how to catch a mullajews?
I got taught a dodgy technique by a crispy old sand eater by the name of Lutch. He fishes at Narrabeen, spins a good yarn but his techniques leave a lot to be desired. Great video Rog!!
