So here is the funny thing SRV was so honored to play with true blues guys like Johnny Copeland, Buddy Guy, and BB King. Every one of his mentors said it was an honor playing with SRV. BB King actually said SRV was a black man trapped in a white mans body.
Loved his Al King collabs. Velvet Bulldozer wouldn't share a stage with anyone.....cept little Stevie and BB.
I was reading an article about this performance. Don't know if it's accurate but apparently Johnny Copeland forgot his verse so he improvised his verse. Couldn't ever tell with how smooth it went.

Stevie’s mentor and biggest influence was actually Albert King.
Johnny Copeland was a true bluesmen. It sounded like the words were being pulled from the depths of his soul.

Stevie was trying to get johnny to sing that verse but he forgot the words. So he just played it.
George carlin has a great bit about how white people should never play the blues cause we have nothing to be blue about....but he would def make an exception for stevie ray Vaughn......closest we've ever come to jimi and probably ever will.
