Most important thing - don't get frustrated, go slow. I watched a few other vids on this topic and this is the way to go HANDS DOWN. After watching this and putting everything back together on my '85 Polaris indy trail hand-me-down, I wasnt happy with how the string was being wound back up so I'm going to take it all apart and do it again and wind the spring tighter. No problem, not even worried about it.
I watched this video once, thats all ya need. Good luck, you can do it too.
    🤘Thanks for posting this video🤘

Popped my recoil rope this afternoon. Being mechanically inclined I decided I'd try to fix it. Like a dummy pulled my entire recoiler apart and couldn't figure out how to get it back right. Thanks to your video I think I can handle it now. Will be checking out more of your videos as needed to work on my 95 Polaris Indy 500.
This is the first sled I've worked in so I know I'll be watching more.

Thank you. After an unsuccessful evening following the repair manual instructions I found on-line, your video help a lot. The next day it took me less time to rebuild the recoil that it did to watch your video. Perfect!

your video helped so much just couldn't figure out how to rewind the spring attached. Tried so many ways but couldnt get plastic wheel down. You showing the spring wrapped in metal case first did it. I even subscribed was so happy. Made my day doing my rope on a Polaris 500.

    I didn't lose an eye. I didn't bleed. But, I did cry a little.
The first 3-4 turns of the spring were the toughest, but after that it went right in. Thanks for the vid.

Doug, awesome video!! I have to say my 95 xlt use to eat ropes, probably because I had to pull on it 1000 times when needle and seats were leaking! Anyway love it, that’s how Phil lost a finger, or I didn’t end up in the fetal position in the corner!! Good work. You guys have any Kity Cat parts, 70’s vintage, rope springs etc.
