Anyone cool in Canada know what's up with The Beaches. They're epic song writers. I bet their ex record label is pissed they dropped them since this records going to take them international and rightfully so. I've seen them go from an indie band to hitting the charts to absolutely pulverize present day. Love em
I love the juxtaposition of the semi-dreamy romantic rhthym and instruments, and the lyrics. "I wanna be your bitch; I wanna taste your spit". But here's the thing: that does NOT make the song a joke. That makes the song REAL. Real people, feeling real emotions. Go Beaches.
Out of the new tracks that dropped today this one got into my brain the quickest. The lyrics are positively scandalous. I love it... except the ending which sounds abrupt and hacked.
I remember Michael Stipe singing "Fuck Me Kitten" on "Monster" and it did not get a Parental Advisory. I'm grinning that this album gets that designation - maybe this song :)
From what I've seen in context with the whole album and from what I've seen from interviews, I assume the song is about Jordan doing self destructive things in the midst of coping with her break up (seeking comfort in sex, drugs, and alcohol) but the addition of a duet makes the song more about two hurting people finding comfort in each other's intimacy/bodies since the song was based off of her actual experiences post-break up and the person she was hooking up with was also fresh from a break up. That's just from what I've gathered from what Jordan herself has said lol
