Bravo! 30 years ago I fumbled with this segment calculation in attempt to calculate water discharge at end of pipe based on water flow rate. Mystery no more. Well done, excellent analysis. Typically in engineering, (example discharge in pipe) one would measure length AB and use that measurement with trig calculations to determine theta and remaining values also having value for radius measured. The use of 120 degrees, in this case as am understanding, is used as example to elucidate method for calculating area of segment having no other basis than mathematics.

It's much easier to use the formula 1/2 ab sinc for area of triangle.
Sir, wouldnt it be easier to use the formula for non right angle triangle 1/2×a×b×sinC
so what is the general formula to calculate are of segment because someone told me there was one
