🐶WOOF WOOF! May seem like an odd choice for Where To Start, but if you've only read Marvel or DC before, maybe you are unsure what you should buy for your first creator owned book. Not to worry, because ya boy got your back! Here's my list of the best Image titles for beginners, and I'm sure the comments will be filled with other great recommendations! . If you want to buy any books, make sure to check our our Sponsor OrganicPricedBooks.com and use code WOOFWOOF for $2 at the checkout! . I hope you guys like this, and are enjoying Ima(y)ge, if you are, be sure to give the video a thumbs up, subcribe if you're new, and share where you can! A very big video is being created in the background, but until next time, stay Mad, Doggs! WOOF WOOF! 🐶
I can definitely recommend Paper Girls, was my top read of 2020 and a really solid series! Might not be for everyone but I loved it. Great list Dogg! Still need to check some of these out.
Lazarus and Paper Girls are the two I’d add to the mix. Lazarus in particular has superb world building and a great narrative. Paper Girls takes a little time to get going but then barrels along to its conclusion. Both really great strips. Both accessible.
Woof woof 🐶, all of these picks are timeless classics. If people are sleeping on image comics they’re missing out some of the best stories there are. Good job Marcus for bringing some love to these books they deserve the praise almost as much as you do. Keep it up brother 👌🏻🔥🏴
Might pick up deadly class after your recommendation. I don’t think you can stress enough how good invincible is, and I’m only on book 8… And you should pick up fairyland vol 2! It’s so damn amazing
These videos are really helpful. I need to order these books online and have them shipped to me in a different country. It's good to know which titles are great to start reading and collecting. Woof woof.
Also recently started Invincible and Spawn. I've read the first few Spawn Origins TPBs and I got issue 1 of Invincible on FCBD. Really loving Spawn, thought the first issue of Invincible was pretty interesting, and will be picking up some TPBs or compendium 1 pretty soon.
Chew is amazing I need a tv show already. My recommendations would be Sex Criminals, Lazarus, and Descender. Great list though Maddog I own all those books.
Proud to say I own all of these 😁 but sadly I don't have invincible in hardcover. Never knew you existed mate but glad to see another British comic collector on the tube
Great video mate. I’m currently halfway through the second compendium of invincible and I’m loving it. One image title I’d recommend is The Last Christmas by Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn. It follows Santa as he travels to San Francisco to kill the last kid that believes in him so he can finally die. He ends up having to try and save the kid from zombies. It’s very stupid and so just read it with an open mind haha.
Some good choices there, a few I haven't read yet. I'd add Wicked + Divine, Gideon Falls, Middlewest, Lazarus and Phonogram as great places to start for lots of different tastes.
RE The Walking Dead - I suggest for people who are interested in taking a plunge you can usually get the whole "absolutes" amount for about 200 lightly used on ebay every couple of months.
Good video, Marcus. I’ve been picking up the Walking Dead Deluxe colourized issues that they have been releasing every couple of weeks and really enjoying it. I watched some of the TV show but never read the comic, and I’m liking the differences so far. Excited to see how it unfolds. Woof woof!
Great list! There are so many great Image series. I Hate Fairyland is so underrated. Not sure if you have read Descender by Lemire but that is a great series!
Here are a couple of (superior) recommendations (JK MD lol:) Southern Bastards- recommended for anyone who likes comics, maybe some people who don't. This is a crime drama, I don't like crime dramas and I'm comfortable calling it one of the best comics of the last 20 years. Try it. Lazarus- recommended for fans of intelligent drama or low sci-fi. Rucka is one of the best writers of this generation and he flexes on this book. Five Ghosts- recommended for fans of Indiana Jones and similar types of pulp fiction. C.O.W.L.- recommended for fans of superheros, crime-noir, or anyone that likes badass comics with great art and writing.
This is the video ive been waiting for the most from you Maddogg. As a beginner for non big 2 this is super helpful😎 you're the man.😀 Planning on getting invincible, spawn, nailbiter, kill or be killed. Maybe saga, deadly class, Jupiter legacy. Ps loved the woof woof intro.😀
I love Image... good vid. Kill or be killed omnibus and deadly class hardcover are hard to find, know of any way to get It? Also, have you read Universe! by Albert Monteys?
Deadly class will probably get reprints when Deluxe vol 3 comes out I’m guessing. You’ll be waiting years for that Kill or Be Killed though honestly that’s how it usually is with Brubaker. If it even ever does get a reprint. I wouldn’t count on it. I’d honestly buy it now before the aftermarket prices get any more unreasonable.
I agree with Alex. Kill or Be Killed sold out very quickly and it took me months to find a copy at a decent price. I lucked out when someone was selling their Brubaker collection. So, I scored that and both Fatale volumes for a pretty good price.
Nah the walking dead show season 1 - 9 was fantastic and the changes were done right for the show minus Carl’s death and the crap with Rick half way through S9 even tho that was a fantastic episode.
Season 1 of the walking dead was fucking awesome... It's what drove me back to comics and buying collected editions. however, I stopped watching after season 4, because it cannot compare to the comic.
That's a pretty easy one, I recommend picking up the IDW collection hardcovers. They go in and out of print but they should always become available again at some point. Book 1 is the very beginning of the story (completely rebooted, no need to read the 80's stuff) and it's a pretty consistently awesome and fun time, at least the parts I have read so far. I'm a bit behind now but I know people are still enjoying it. For most people that read this run, they pretty much agree that it's the definitive version of the turtles. The hardcovers are definitely the most straightforward way to read the series too, since it does a really good job of mapping out the main series and all of the various spin-offs and mini series into the best reading order.
one of the worlds biggest unsolved mysteries and conspiracy surrounding maddogg.😉😋 Is he the same man or has a clone replaced Marcus or maybe not even human.....😂
I enjoyed this video, Marcus. Great work! My first foray into Image Comics was Murder Falcon (thanks to my wife). It's a fun read with pretty good magical realism in it. Reflecting now, fans of Donny Cates' God Country or Joe Kelly's I Kill Giants will enjoy it, if you're looking for a heavy metal spin to such stories.

Thanks for this Maddogg. Recently started Invincible and Spawn so its great to see where else to go at Image.

Subscribed 100% cuz of your power rangers in tge background 😅 looking forward to checking out more of your videos :)
Saga sound so epic !
Great video Marcus!
Radiant Black and the The Massive Verse are some I would add to this list
My favorite Image comics are Daniel Warren Johnson’s Murder Falcon and Justin Jordan/Tradd Moore’s Luther Strode series
Really appreciate your recommendations, great vid!!
Proud to say I own all of these 😁 but sadly I don't have invincible in hardcover. Never knew you existed mate but glad to see another British comic collector on the tube
Just got into crime comics. Can't believe I forgot Chew.

YOOO Big ups from California! Definitely check out UltraMega by Image. Its in single issues right now but the first two are spectacular!

I got I hate fairyland for my birthday and it looks awesome
Yet another great list and video from a fellow Marcus ^^
top noch recomendations Maddogg! If i have to pick JUST ONE it would be invincible, superb comic but this list is A++! All of them are great...
Saga is fantastic I’m ready for more!!
Interesting chooses my dude I can't say I agree cause I dont really read modern day comics im more of a 90's image fanboy.
I love I hate fairyland land too was such a fun ride of a book
Great list! There are so many great Image series.
I Hate Fairyland is so underrated.
Not sure if you have read Descender by Lemire but that is a great series!
Descender is a masterpiece.
Would love to have seen Supreme in here as well. However like he said, read what catches your eye
Great vid a few of these I haven't heard of before I'm gonna try de of these out 🔥🔥🔥🔥😁🔥🔥🔥🔥💪😁💪
🤔...Deadly Class and I Hate Fairyland look pretty awesome...🤘🏼💯✔️
Great and Informative video. I only ever read spawn
Glad you enjoyed it mate! I've reviewed a few Image titles on the channel as well, so one of them might interest you too! WOOF WOOF!

Can you do a where to start for Dark Horse Vertigo, and more non Marvel.or DC stuff
I like both TWD show and comic
Great video, great list! 👍 little bird and black magick would be my image recommendations!
Not read little bird myself, but black magick is great!
@@barryponsford2433 little bird is totally different but I loved it and I can’t wait for more Black Magick!

Nice video thanks 👍❤
I Hate Fairyland does look interesting. ill be picking them up soon.
Not to cause FOMO, but here in the UK the HC's don't seem to be that available at the moment
Is the Weatherman, Postal, The Realm and Lazurus coming back?
Can’t believe east of west year 3 is already OOS everywhere! It just got a re print I guess I wasn’t fast enough
It is still available at Forbidden Planet in the UK...if that helps 👍🏻
@@ryanoconnor5826 I’m in the states sadly
@@sharebear421 Not sure how much shipping would be to the US but Indigo in Canada has it in stock!
Just got the first 15 trade paperback volumes of the walking dead yesterday for 30$ TWD
Insane
Loved Skyward
I'm excited to read the ending! Thanks for watching! WOOF WOOF! 🐶
You definitely need to read Paper Girls. When the TV show comes out, it’s going to be the next Stranger Things
You need to stop saying “woof woof” it’s unnecessary and annoying, your content is really good and professional and this lets it down 👍
I would say either Spawn or Invincible
Could anyone recommend any single volume image graphic novels
I love Image... good vid. Kill or be killed omnibus and deadly class hardcover are hard to find, know of any way to get It? Also, have you read Universe! by Albert Monteys?

I have an idea for image comics “old man mark”
I have been loving Image lately. I wish Deadly Class would be reprinted....
No Kick-ass or Paper Girls?
In all fairness, I was hoping to see Gen 13.
Haven't read too much of it myself, but it's on my to-buy list! Thanks for watching! WOOF WOOF! 🐶
Nah the walking dead show season 1 - 9 was fantastic and the changes were done right for the show minus Carl’s death and the crap with Rick half way through S9 even tho that was a fantastic episode.
U should read berserk manga
Season 1 of the walking dead was fucking awesome... It's what drove me back to comics and buying collected editions. however, I stopped watching after season 4, because it cannot compare to the comic.
the same way you feel about the walking dead TV show is the same way I feel about the invincible TV show.
Why whats srong with it
I like the walking dead comic and tv series. But i think the tv series tends to have a pacing problem.
Can you do a video on where to start reading teenage mutant ninja turtles please

Thank you for the list but I find it's really jarring to listen with all the cutting and splicing of the video. Almost every sentence.
Deadly Class is cool. Saga and East of West are so overrated
saga is very overrated, i would not consider it even scifi, more like insult to scifi comics
I enjoyed this video, Marcus. Great work!
