Also I like to combine the spin move it a drive most of the time. I'm looking forward to the answer
In this situation, I believe, a spin would actually pin the defender to side or even behind you. Behind the back may give the defender more time to recover. Hope this helps.
No he just did it to teach people how to do it you can carry while teaching your self to do the move just learn not to carry while doing the move if that makes sense
I tried that probably 20 times and never was successful Ma magic shot most of the time we got called for carrying or traveling more often than not again disrespectful to the game

You have to make sure to not carry the ball during the spin

Not really. The brief cuff doesn't count as a gather in most levels above high school
just pick the ball up and go right into the layup instead of dribbling again
