      It’s more nuanced, Brits were exploiters and came for riches, but they didn’t come to destroy or for evil. The greatest atrocities in Indian history are all from Islamic invaders who came to destroy India and Hindu Dharma. Brits are overplayed in textbooks because of nation building reasons on the part of the INC and their Marxist orientated allies amongst the intelligentsia.

    People were gushing about the symbolism in Parasite!! RRR too has many scenes that hv symbolism but it's not the Parasite kind( commentary on real world situations) but rather symbolism that is set in the Movie itself and commentary on the characters. I can go on listing out at least a dozen of such shots if not more!! and this movie achieves all this within the envelope of a blockbuster filmmaking without being Boring for a second!!

This is one of the only comical and most rosy Indian movie in the context of colonialism. A very honest real story of Sardhar Uddam Singh, without the stereotypical musicals, dance or physics denying action, with top notch cinematography and story telling, released an year before. But our Oscar committee didn't send that movie because they didn't want to hurt the sentiments of English people. Even this comic of a movie that reinforces all the stereotypes of Indian cinema was also not sent for the same reason.

      Over the top action can b made a bit more realistic without losing d drama/poetry. It would have gotten even more famous.

    • @harishrao2000
      @harishrao2000 Год назад +2

      @@RojaJaneman The whole idea of "over the top action" is that it is not realistic. The main reason why over the top action in Telugu movies are working now and not before is primarily due to budget. Budgets of most Telugu movies before 2010 were miniscule. Most movies were made for less than 10 Cr. Bollywood used to have budgets 3-4 times as much at that time. If you have enough budget and capable technicians, you can make all the over the top action look very cool and hyper stylised instead of them being cringe. This is exactly what happened with RRR and why its action worked on global level. It is over the top, but it comes out as hyper stylised rather than cringe for the most part.

    Both Ram and Bheem are modern historical figures as depicted in movies but they are also inspired from ancient historical characteristics of Shri Rama (from Ramayana Era) and Mighty Bheem (from Mahabharat Era) that's the reason why Bheema can lift motorcycle because according to Mahabharat, Bheema can crush mountains and 🐘 with his single punch. And Rama dressed liked that statue (idol from where he gets his 🏹) of ancient Indian Rama. You should read the lyrics of song playing in background music in last forest battle. That score describes the characteristics of both ancient historical figures.❤️❤️............,.

      Bad depiction of Indian Cinema. Agree with some while strong hate for others.
      Lemme recommend the same kinda list.
      Satyajit Ray films: Apu Trilogy, Jalasaghar, Charulata, Devi, Aranyer din Ratri, Shatranj ke Khiladi, Agantuk (if you're into cinema and want to know how great is the director praised by Martin Scorsese, Akira Kurosawa)
      Pyasa, Do Aankhe barrah Haath, Mera Naam Joker, Sangam, Do Bigha Zameen, Bandit Queen, Satya, Salaam Bombay (for Hindi language cinema with a serious narrative but some are full of songs)
      Shyam Benegal movies (Manthan, Ankur, Nishant, Mandi to name the ones I've watched). He is the closest director from Hindi language to Satyajit Ray and he's still miles behind Satyajit Ray.
      Govind Nihalani is a good alternative to Shyam Benegal (Ardh Satya, Akrosh, Droh Kaal, Tamas).
      South Indian cinema... Check out works of
      Adoor Gopalakrishnan, G Aravindan, Sibi Malayil to know about arthouse cinema of South India.
      Or if you want some good stories, you can check out Mysskin (self proclaimed student of Akira Kurosawa), LJ Pellissery or check out the commercial directors I don't care about.
      Finally some hidden gems of filmmakers from India. Chaitanya Tamhane, Ritwik Ghatak, Girish Kasaravalli. Check out their movies. BTW, name your favourite movies @Girish Chandra
