I fished a lake just like this but smaller, probably 2 acres with 31 carp in it and I can say places like it are just magical, ended up with 5 carp in a summer and landed 3 more including my target this spring, I hope to go back at some point as I’ve been to a lot of places this year but no lake has the atmosphere that place has
Kinda wanted to laugh at the end but I know all too well what its like to fall into an ice cold like! The shock could have dire consequences but obviously the life jacket reduces those chances considerably! Just goes to show it doesn't matter how much experience you have it happens to the best if us! Having fished lakes choked In weed like this before it gives me anxietty looking at it. Three fish kills happened on the lake I fished over the years until they invested seriously in weed removal and adding oxygen to the lake in the warmer months. Great video though! I hope they are managing the oxygen and weed.
Im fishing in similar lake in Kent 110 acres and is about 700 carp so when i started last year and trying learning lake the first carp i catch was 1 year later i was nearly give up

Possibly a stupid comment, but given the boat couldn’t you drive a bank stick in adjacent your spot and then washing line over the top of the whole lot?
Hi Adam...( we met at Fryerning..)...just an obvious approach,that would cancel out several of the problems you're confronted with....just fish (or create ), margin spots ...( under the rod tips )...a very " ignored " approach by young modern carpets...????..

A better tactic would be to put bank sticks in the lake about 10y back from the bait and keep the line above most of the weed.

Does it affect rods or the whippings on the eyes if you have them submerged under water for a length of time ?
It can on some rods yeah ut can effect the resin, it goes milky
If you fish a fixed rig with slack line and your bobbin on the floor your get no indication, not saying you was but that a fact lovely place 👍
