Those incredible golfers were the brilliant sportsmen of my youth beginning with 1970's golf ! Wonderful memories from a bygone age where they arrived on the British isles to play Links golf ,once a year ,yet more than most won the claret jug on a completely different style and setting for a golf course and Major Championship ! It speaks volumes for their adaptability,their talent and enduring class and style as world class sports persons of the highest order possible . My favourite golfer of all time I learned the golf swing from his book at age 13, 64 and still going.

Agree....not many. However, as an athlete, he's lost a hell of a lot of flexibility. The big problem back then...is that they were not really athletes....as they are these days. They were just golf players. There are many these days....who, at his age....will be able to generate more body turn and torque, simply because of ongoing physical activity and training. I see it in hockey also...among those who have remained truly active all their lives.
Watson always stuck in my mind as Tom Sawyer and Trevino as Tuco from The good, the bad, and the ugly...Jack as the man with no name, and the good one. It's incredible how old they are now...what a career.

Looking at the second tee shot i'd say 150-175yrds.
It was 262. I was there.
Pure class! And entertainment on the golf course when he was playing! That's what's missing today - players who came up through the caddie ranks and the school of hard knocks! Most of these kids today grew up in country clubs and attended college on golf scholarships. Not that that s bad it's just white milk! No personalities! They all look and play the same.

Well, Watson and Nicklaus and Palmer werent in caddie ranks. But Player was quite poor, so maybe he did some.
The really amazing caddie story is that Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson both caddied as kids at the same dusty club in Ft Worth
at the same time! Amazing. Sort of like Truman Capote and Harper Lee knowing each other as small children in the same tiny
