I know this is 3 years late and you undoubtedly move on but:
It can't be simplified because 7 is a real # and 11i is an imaginary number.
Even if they could it would be 18i not 18.

+Julian Green 2+3i can't be simplified any further as you can't combine the two. The 2 is a real value whereas the 3i is imaginary.
