    On #9 I think I caught a mistake. When you add 16+9 on the denominator I think it should be 16-9 because the addition sign is being carried over by the 12i which got canceled out already. Anyway the different answer I got after catching the mistake was 18/7 +17i/7

      Old but that doesn't happen. X - X becomes 0, so it's like having 16+0-9i^2. You could use an addition or subtraction sign for the 0 and it wouldn't change a thing. It becomes 16-9i^2 and i^2 becomes -1 and it obviously then turns into 16+9.

      @@rosacamelasaguid262 what is?

    • @oriehossain2410
      @oriehossain2410 2 года назад +1

      @@jalynnhawkins7 because if you take i^4, it equals to one. So what he did was make life easier for himself and express the 59 in terms of groups of 4. 1 to the power of any number is always 1. When he divided 59 by 4, you get 14 with a remainder of 3. Meaning that he can (according to index law) express i^59 as (i^4)^14 * i^3. Since i^4 equals to 1 (this is because i^2 is -1 and i^4 can be expressed as i^2 * i^2, which then equals to 1), the equation is 1^14 * i^3. Since 1 to the power of anything is 1, 1^14 is just 1. Therefore the equation simplifies into 1 * i^3. Now, i^3 is just i^2 * i, which is just -i (as this was obtained from -1 * i). The equation then further simplifies into 1 * -i which is just -i, which is how he got his answer :)

    • @lesserknownfacts7849
      @lesserknownfacts7849 4 года назад +3

      Its because of a pattern.
      First I am gonna tell you the pattern.
      i = -1^1/2
      i^2=-1
      i^3=i^2*i=-1*i=-i
      i^4=i^2*i^2=-1*-1=1
      Now this pattern repeats at intervals of 4th power.
      example
      i^8=1
      i^12=1
      i^16=1
      so,
      i^n= i^r (r is the remainder you get after dividing n by 4)
      I hope this helped you.

    • @eeriemyxi

      well,
      i variable is used to denote √-1 sometimes.
      square root of a number x, gives us the value which when multiplied by itself (x × x or x^2) gives back x.
      (√x)^2 = √x × √x = x
      so, (√-1)^2 = √-1 × √-1 = -1
