- One-year-old Zoe Bolton couldn't hide her excitement about being able to see clearly for the first time.
The baby girl from West Virginia squealed with delight when she tried on her first pair of glasses.
Once her mother, Aimee, knew how severe her daughter's prescription was, she knew that they might want to capture video of this special moment.
The whole family, including dad Jeff, and big brothers Gavin and Hudson, crowded around as their aunt recorded the moment Zoe tried her glasses on.

Wow. What a profound moment. I can't imagine how stunning the world must suddenly look to her going from "mush" to clarity.
I know how she feels. I needed glasses for over two years in grammar school, but kids sometimes want glasses when they don't need them so my Mom thought that I was in that category. My best friend in second grade would pass hers to me so I could see the board and write down what I needed to. Two years later a new optometrist moved to our neighborhood, and his daughter and I became fast friends. I don't remember how I finally got an eye exam, but I remember riding home with my Mom and my new glasses... I couldn't stop looking at everything, especially the leaves on the trees. Before glasses, trees looked like water-colored blobs. Now I could see leaves. My poor Mom felt so bad that it had taken so long. My brother became an optometrist about 15 years later.
I had a similar experience, I didn’t get glasses until I was seventeen when I went to get my learners permit the DMV said I needed glasses that’s when mother took me to the optometrist. She thought that because my two older sisters had glasses that’s why I wanted them. I knew what leaves were but to see them on the trees clearly and individually I was amazed. The beauty i missed out on.
That’s a great story!! I used to be very artistic and my trees always looked very abstract, I never understood how or why other people drew so much detail in their drawings because I couldn’t see it. I finally got into photography as a kid so I could take close up photos of things I wanted to draw or paint, and finally got around to getting a pair of glasses. I’ll never forget the first time I saw the trees.
