I love the idea that caduceus is just so perceptive that he cannot distinguish between a secret conversation of people whispering and a normal inviting conversation in normal volumes
No kidding! XD And I just love how nonchalant he is suggesting Jester and Beau just get a hammock to solve their problem, even if he's unaware of the full conversation since it was meant to be a secret and the girls being sneaky.
My favorite was in Percy's lab, where most of the group (I believe) were discussing. Someone mentioned how they needed Scanlan for something, and Scanlan comes barging in. Then Grog does the same. It was a great meta call on Sam's part.
My favorite example of this is Percy having a conversation with someone while he was in the tub, and Laura deciding that Vex was hiding beneath the water the whole time. I laughed so hard it hurt.
I like this because obviously Caduceus saw them, having like 8378 passive perception. But he isn't smart enough to understand they DIDN'T want to be seen. So he just thought they were carrying on the conversation in another room. And then everyone barges in because Caduceus isn't sneaky AT ALL, so basically everyone hears him.
My Last D&D session. The sneaky rouge was scouting ahead then waving party over. The fighter in heavy full plate, walks up to corner *CLANK* *CLANK* *CLANK*.
This happened to my table a long ass time ago (back in 3.5) but the guards failed their checks and were like, "Nope. That's the sound wind makes." And we constantly reference that line.
I like how Talison really plays with his high af perception whenever there are party conversations and non ability checks, really makes it feel more organic in a way. Also, great animatic that reflects how I could only assume they act.
Something about the way Beau says "that's not safe!" just absolutely bowls me over every time. Like yes, one single rational thought in the middle of this inherently absurd conversation, and also the one sentence that's spoken clearly enough to not just be an incomprehensible babble of squeaky/hissy whispering. It's VERY good.
Jester's Sketchbook thank you!! (I used StoryboardPro so it’s all done in vector lines, which is tricky and not something I’m used to, but it gives it that look!)
@@dynamicworlds1 24 passive perception is hilarious. I hope Taliesin figures out how to make it even higher. Like level dips rogue or something for expertise. @@Humorless_Wokescold My cleric had 28 passive percep, but since the DM (newish to D&D) didn't realize that made it an automatic success for things, he was still having me roll (and I usually rolled bad, heh) - once we figured out how it actually worked, I'd still roll anyway because the running joke was that I was only perceptive when I wasn't thinking about it (i.e. passive), so if the group wanted to discover something, they'd start distracting me so I could. ;D
@@Humorless_Wokescold I headcannon that Cad has ADHD because he notices _everything_ but gets stuck on certain ideas. Also, he's only slightly below average. If 10 is ~100 iq then 9 would be something like 90. 80-100 iq is considered average/normal range
@@rosalindchang7039 Yes he does. It's something like 17 or 18 I believe. That moment when your friend family starts acting like a real family
Beau: THIS HOUSE IS A FUCKING NIGHTMARE
The way Caleb is standing in the doorway tho... “Fjord said it’s my turn on the Xbox.”
Despite all her character development, Beau still being a sulky teenager is one of my favourite things about her ❤️
