This was one of my favorite arcade games, it has like the perfect balance of difficulty up front combined with TOUGH level design. One of the most satisfying games to beat straight up, similar to Black Tiger.
Had to drive 8 miles down PCH to a liquor store in Signal Hill to play this game. And I did it almost every day for two years. It was very addicting. This, Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe and Mayday ( Midway's knock off version of Defender) were my go to games, but I only ever found one of these Oscars.
I remember beating this. Good God how many quarters did I put in that machine.A fuck ton lol. Was it worth it? Yes it was. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.
I can't believe I finally found the game that took many many hours of my childhood... I remember being like 11 yo and unable to beat the first boss because I couldn't reach him since I always wanted the weapons but not Jump lol..
Are u referring to the ufo like boss that hovers down towards u? That’s the world revision version, the other boss with the two steel legs is the USA version

And it inspired Turrican, so that alone makes it awesome!
Considered the graphic style of backgrounds and K points seems to me the same team of Karnov
Some sets, enemies, explosions and music arrangements are also very reminiscent of Cobra Command, Midnight Resistance and Chelnov :)

2:00 This part of the music sounds a lot like the music from the first level of Turrican 1 on the Amiga.
I’ve heard a few people say that the devs of Turrican were directly inspired by this game.

Such a shame that this game never got any home console ports-this would’ve translated great to the Sega Master System

The music would of sounded butchered if it was ported to the Master System. PC Engine could of done a fine port, if Data East would of bothered.

The colors in this game reminds me of the 2 original Contra games for arcade machines
With a name like that, i thought it would be another "weirdo" game from UPL. Turns out it's a Data East game. Good job!
