I am a Saudi and have to clarify some points . When we say we want to welcome visitors and tourists that does not mean we force you to come to the kingdom. We are addressing those global citizens who are open to the world and want to explore it. My country is I would say 99% muslims and yes alcohol isn't allowed here and we have completely different life styles from those in the west but if all places are the same then what is the point of visiting a new country. Also, to those who say Saudi has nothing to offer, it is total non-sense, WE are very rich in history, we have many hertiage sites, we have 500 years old villages, more than 1400 years old cites, Madain Saleh which is like Petra in Jordan and it's the Nabateans’ second-largest city. For nature lovers, we have untouched islands with crystal water and white sand, we have mountains ( more than 3000 meters high) and of course we have one of the largest deserts in the world ( the Empty quarter). Needless to mention the Arabian hospitality at its best. I am just saying that because I travel a lot and love travellers and think that coming to Saudi would be a unique experience. WELCOME to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia !!

Nasser N. Actually I presented the western male point of view. I love Saudi for its current natural culture and way of life. Some people are out there who will only issue you certificate of modernity only when you allow them to eat pork, alcohol and your women in your country and also have sex with same gender in your hotel rooms. Else they will call you backward.

Not everything has to be westernized and seen from that point of view to be valued. I'd gladly come to Saudi Arabia and respect their way of living. Travel is about self-enrichment and experience. And show a new perspective on life.

It's that simple, or should have been simple. No wars, no pressure, no sanctions from a self appointed police of the world ie. USA.

@Ahmed Almutairi Yes you're changing and we acknowledge that but why make an exaggerated claim. I've been to Saudi Arabia. Also it's strange that people in Saudi Arabia take pride in portraying change while claiming to have a superior culture at the same time. In that case why now tilt towards an inferior culture of the Western world. You have so many conflicting attitudes and aspirations. You need to RATIONALISE!

I think its a great idea to open up to tourists but I agree that they should respect the way Saudi people live. There is no need to change the laws for westerners, if they don't like then don't visit.

Gender Segregation? Please let's stop put such negative labels on other countries culture. We have to respect their spirituality even though they're different from ours and celebrate the diverse way of living. it's BASIC human right, afterall, People are free to practice what they believe spiritually.
FYI As far as I know, The Saudis never do it to discriminate women, in fact they do it to Respect their women, they intend to keep their Women as safe and Noble as possible. Like QUEENS. Random men cannot see, touch and mingle with QUEENS. Don't consume the negative narration the western media's often offer.
And I feel like It's one of the unique experiences global tourists would love to have when visiting the exotic destinations away from their home. To eat in a restaurant where they have special area for women & family? I'd love to try that! :)

I am from Yemen and since you guys are destroying buildings by accident I was wondering if your willing to rebuild them and also can you make us part of Neom or will our future look like the stone age while yours looks like something out of the Jetsons cartoon episode .Remember to make your country great you must love for thy neighbors and brothers in faith what you love for yourself or the lords blessings that he has bestowed upon you will slip from beneath your feet regardless of how much you spend to make more for God gave you money and oil when you had nothing he is capable of taking it all even if you have everything look at Babylon the Romans and the great Egyptians etc. if you don't believe me . Big Baba You asked yourself how was your sand land before the “kingdom” was bestowed in Saudi Arabia, by the Brits, how hungry Saudis were, they would take Yemeni soil to put on their land but it would blow back to Yemen, how Yemen was before the presidency of Ali Abdullah Saleh, the first loser to rule Yemen and destroy the honorable land, how Yemen was under the succession of Ibrahim, the rich, incomparable history of Yemen, the blessings that came from Yemen, mocha coffee, which Ali gave to the UAE ..I could go on & on..don’t try that

mina kim You ever came across versus in the Quran when Ibrahim called out to God while building the Kaaba saying “my Lord enrich this land with fruits, whoever believes, and whoever disbelieves grant them enjoyment for the time being”..Saudi Arabia is most certainly in that state now, granted enjoyment for the worldly life being. False wealth (paper money) is backed by Saudi oil, as soon as it goes down, so will your “wealth”..Don’t claim Gods blessings with false wealth, God knows, you do not. Iran has nothing to do with Saudi bombs on Yemen, talk that shit for the ignorant, you and I both know what’s going on

But if if people from other parts of the world can vacation many other equally interesting places that don't require them to obtain from things like dancing and alchohol, and where they can wear what they want, they're going to vacation there. It's just the way the economy works. Also, a lot of those places are much cheaper than Saudi Arabia.

momochan I don’t know about the nationality of workers but I’m sure about two things 1-they’re mostly not educated (no degrees i mean), 2-their own country can’t employ them .. so if Arabs or Europeans employ them & made them afford to live a decent life then I guess Arabs & others are actually helping them .. yes most Saudi may don’t work at same job but that due their options while these some workers from South Asia may have only one option which is good in most cases specially when you compare to their own countries (like Bangladesh or India ..etc) so I think it’s not fair to just blame Saudis or any other nationalities also the Saudis I’ve met were different some are white with blue eyes some regular Arabs with fair skin and brown or hazel eyes and there’s blacks also actually I’ve met some Asian like Saudi (I feel like this comment becoming a bit racist sorry but just to show the Saudis were different so I don’t think race was an issue) I don’t think they’re mostly racist because they’re different not all of them are blonde nor black maybe it’s more about classism thing like in every nation we’re rich may look down on poor people it’s not a race or nationality thing I guess .. but who knows!

The second thing is that resorts were always built there’s nothing called “artificial resorts” (even though they never mentioned in the vid that they are going to build a resort)

Bad choice of words. Saudi Arabia does not force women to cover up. It's a social practice that dates back hundreds of years. Even Islam does not force that. It's a god damn choice.

oh my god the amount of ignorance in the comments.. as a saudi woman i can honestly say that saudi arabia is changing to the better and it’s taking a major step into modrenizing the country in ways such as changing the education system, changing the rulers and the people in charge and changing the law, the change is so clear and obvious i could see it with my own eyes but ofcourse the western media and the propaganda is a never ending love story and what’s funnier is that the people in the comments the only way they get their sources and information about saudi arabia is from the western media so i don’t expect nothing.. perhaps go there and judge it with your own eyes rather than just being a smartass who think that saudi arabia is shutting down their tourist plans just because you don’t want to visit them😔

When you and all the other women in Saudi throw off your burqha, hijab or whatever then lets talk. We will still have a lot to talk about as women will never be seen as anything more than a second class citizen in Saudi.

The Land of Saudi Arabia is rich with history. Some sites date 7000 years back. We have areas in the red sea ready for diving adventures that are still untouched. We also have all the infrastructure that everyone needs to explore and have a nice comfortable time in Saudi Arabia. Women can drive cars and ride motorcycles now, so if you are riding your motorcycle around the world and want to visit Saudi Arabia, Now you can. I am glad that my country is open for tourism because I always wanted the world to see the nice places that we have.
Welcome to Saudi Arabia. Staring from 28 September 2019.
