    Alright so recently the long awaited retheme of Splash Mountain finally opened at the Magic Kingdom. To promote the ride, Disney filmed a POV video for RUclips, and sadly it wasn’t a great video. Of course when it comes to theme park rides, a video can only cover so much of the actual experience. But of course Disney adults are hardcore pearl-clutching at the sight of the new ride. Today I’ll be making a mild defense of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

    I also wanted to bring this up but sadly couldn’t figure out a way to bring it up naturally in the video so I’m just throwing the notion of natural progression in my writing out the window. I’ve seen countless videos making fun of operational issues such as malfunctioning animatronics or the ride stopping frequently, and I think it should go without saying that this is a normal thing for new rides to experience. Trust me, I was there just a few days after Rise of the Resistance opened and to be honest it broke down a ton. You can’t tell if a gun can fire until you finally pull the trigger so don’t be surprised that only now they’re running into small hiccups mid-ride. Don’t be a disingenuous fuckazoid. Give it a few months instead of jumping to the conclusion that this is the worst ride ever and making bloody malfunctioning compilations (yes, these are real and yes, they are just as embarrassingly misinformative as they sound) and they’ll have all the kinks worked out.

      THIS. plus, it's advanced technology. its not going to work perfectly 100% of the time. i was so pissed off reading through the comments of a video where a mom pulled her and kids out of the pirates boats and INTO THE WATER. the comments were all like "we pay too much money for this to happen!" regardless of how much you pay, technology will always break down. its just a part of it.

    Hey! Watched from the Offhand server, really hit it home with this one. While the ride isn’t perfect per se at least it’s still “splash mountain” at its core. same ride system, same track. Just different theming and stuff. Plus the new A1000 animatronics are amazing! Even if, in my opinion, this ride is a tad flawed around the edges, I still do like it from what I’ve seen, and am excited to be able to ride it when I am able to

    I was excited for Tiana's Bayou Adventure but after seeing the retheme, I was very disappointed, especially with the empty dark spaces. I was very letdown with having Mama Odie telling us to get ready for the splash and seeing us at the party which made me boo it.
    If Disneyland wants to get me excited to ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure, then they need to start adding more to the ride. I want to see statue characters from The Princess and the Frog, including Reggie, Darnell, Two Fingers, Lawrence, lady butterflies, pink flamingos and even a tombstone of Dr. Facilier make a cameo. In addition I want more cartoon critters like gophers, skunks, 3 possums hanging on a tree branch, deer, and bayou bats added to the scenery of the ride. Also I want to hear "Friends on the Other Side reprise" played which I'm very disappointed isn't in the ride.
    I'm very disappointed Disney World and Disneyland made Tiana's Bayou Adventure like Alice in Wonderland tea party or Belle's Magical World party or some other Disney Junior Disney Princess tea party or Fancy Nancy story and they treated this ride like a gentle ride rather than an exciting thrill ride which was a big mistake.
    If this is the Tiana's Bayou Adventure ride and I try it and it lets me down, then I'd rather go on some of the worst Disneyland rides including Autopia, Spinning Teacups and It's a small world ride. I think this should've been a Pocahontas Just around the riverbend ride which I would be more excited to ride instead.
    It's not too late for Disney to improve Tiana's Bayou Adventure but if they're going to be stubborn about keeping it beta and having it only their way, I'll probably ignore the ride after riding it once and go on something more fun like Star Wars or Space Mountain instead and forget about Tiana's Boring Adventure ride which could be forgotten over time.

    I think the ride is just disappointing follow up to the most beloved ride at disneyland. Not bad, not great, just there. Have a solid story, plus maybe include the villain at the splash area, Tiana and her friends just partying in a sparse ride isn't gonna cut Uit and just make it boring.

    I've only been to Disneyland once in my life (all the way in 2004 I believe, I was just finishing second grade) and I had no idea what Song of the South even was, I thought the theming came from an anthology like Melody Time. The new Princess and the Frog theme looks a bit uncanny for now probably because of repurposed layout and compared to the original ride and the splash zone looks a little too empty but maybe if I get a chance to go and check it out it might grow on me.

    1:25 i wish it was as only the animated parts are really featured in the ride but alot of people, including Disney themselves lump both together so yes, the film is also relevant
    2:28 Yes it would be the same ride, if you were looking at this from the perspective of a Six Flags ride. At Disney, the theme is the ride. It's like if you were to retheme Mr Toad to Cars but keep the track, or Great Movie Ride to Runaway Railway. The "it's just the same ride even with a different theme" argument isn't a strong argument when talking about a Disney ride.
    3:40 I think it's ok that the ride isn't one to one with the film as it gives it an attempt to tie all 3 segments into one story, rather than going scene by scene.

    • @TheSEAempire
      @TheSEAempire  2 месяца назад

      I love how your first point was presented as a debunk for my point about the *contents* of the film being irrelevant compared to the perception people have, but it ended up corroborating my point.
      That point about the theme itself being different while everything else is different was in regards to most normal guests: they don’t care what the new theme is, they just want to ride a fun ride.
      Never said it wasn’t fine. That point was against people saying “erm, it’s not accurate to the film” while Splash Mountain wasn’t accurate to Song of the South. This entire video is about inconsistent standards being a massive problem with the discourse surrounding this ride.

    Pirates and the Haunted Mansion may have simple stories (and I agree that there's nothing wrong with a simple story) but they both still have a sense of tension. In Pirates it's in the cave scene, the ship battle scene, and the fire scene. In Mansion, the first half is scary and the second half is silly-scary. All stories need conflict-resolution, tension and catharsis; and even the rides that just tell simple little vignettes understand that. But Bayou Adventure is just going from one happy scene to the next with no conflict. That's the problem. It's not that it's simple - it's that there's no story at all, just a premise.

    A decent video but I do have one gripe. You talk at times a bit too fast in this video . I had to turn on subtitles and rewind a lot to make sure I got your points. So a bit of constructive feedback I’d say is talk a bit slower. Because it can give the impression you are shotgunning points.
    I was unable to go on this ride because honestly a lot of the rides at Disney when I went last week were down which was a shame. If I am to play Devil’s advocate, I could see some folks being annoyed at the change because Disney virtue signaled why they got rid of it. Note, I don’t really care they got rid of the ride. Old rides come and go. Jaws, Back to the future etc. And Tiana is a good choice( really solid underrated Disney film) so I can see why Disney wanted to replace it.
    Outside of that one thing I’ve noticed as a normie, your video has nothing I don’t disagree with. All in all i hope the ride’s problems are sorted out so as I can ride it.

      I have to say, I really agree with this. The speed was not only uncomfortable to listen to; it also made it feel like you’re either too angry or too insecure to trust your audience or your own arguments. I subscribed anyway, because I agree with a lot of what you said (despite really disliking the combative tone, which does NOT help), I also love S.E.A., and your other videos look interesting.
      But I really, really hope you take this feedback to heart. You make interesting points, but the condescending and sarcastic tone makes it extremely easy to reject and resent everything you say, rendering an otherwise excellent (and needed) video, effectively pointless. The people who would most benefit from this video are not invited to listen to it at all, and most likely the actual effect of this video will be to intensify and cement resentment toward the attraction, anyone defending it, and frankly, any of the other issues intensely motivating some of the people who really want to see any Tiana attraction fail.
      I hope you’ll think about it.

      Thanks! And yeah I do actually enjoy the animated sections tbh. I rewatched it early last year for shits and giggles and came to the same conclusion: boring-ass live action parts, really fun animated parts. Frankly history would see the film far better if they just rereleased the animated scenes as a short film collection removed from the context of the rest of the film, but I digress.

    • @TheSEAempire
      @TheSEAempire  2 месяца назад +1

      New rides break down frequently, there’s no way to stress test a ride without having it open to the public. Just like anything else in this world you won’t know if it works until you actually put it in the hands of the public for them to try it out.
      Also I think it’s pretty obvious that you can’t compare a mass produced product like a car (where they can rigorously test the product before beginning mass production) to a single attraction. There is no modularity in the manufacturing process of a physical building with such a weird shape, nor with new animatronics.

      And I agree on the front of Disney needing to keep their mouth shut about superfluous political nonsense, but this video was breaking down bad-faith argumentation, and in the case of this ride, it’s been the target of TONS of bad-faith criticisms. Besides that, a ride is obviously different from something like a cruise or plane since the stuff that are breaking down aren’t life threatening. If you’re going to compare it to anything, compare it to something that isn’t a total false equivalency.
