I thinking reading the Bible for yourself is absolutely the best way to go, but there are still many people who do so and still misinterpret or twist things to fit their biases or agendas or false doctrines. I think the key to reading the Bible for one's self should be "steadfast prayer while reading the Bible for ourselves." That way we can spot the deceptions used by others who manipulate Scripture (which they, too, read for themselves).

Now I know you read from the 'NWT' version which has been deceivably altered, reinforcing the denigration of the deity of Christ. In short, a false Christ cannot save, therefore you are on dangerous ground!!!! I pray that the true Christ will open your eyes and ears so that you may see and hear the Gospel truth. This will be a lot to take in and I'm sure might mean a completely new life for you, should you take this step towards true freedom in Christ Jesus. Be kind. Invite them in. They cannot come in on the first day. Set an appointment for them to return. Ask for a Bible study. Go easy enough to meet more than once. Build relationship. Tell them your testimony. Ask theirs. Love them. Be patient as God has been patient with us. We also were once led astray. Titus 3. Many of them are wonderful genuine and earnest followers who believe they are serving God. Most Christians slam the door. Only proving that we are not loving. Lets change their minds. God wants them. The harvest is ripe.
I was led astray until I was 28. If these people are willing to go door to door for a lie, I cannot wait to see what they do for God when they truly know Him! All for His glory. Save them Lord, for your own glory. I like it when God shows off by saving those no one expected.

I joined jws in 1963 .age 18 .i was baptised into church of england as a child .i spent over 50 years debating and arguing with born again christians .over the last 20 years the jws organisation has become more controling and fear orientated .about 4 years ago i woke up to jesus .over the years i had made many friends of born again christians that i called on as a jw .some seed was sown .i woke up after i went to the jws memorial service where they pass the bresd and wine but do not partake which always bothered me .that night i was having problems sleeping thinking about what Jesus did for me .i awoke at exactly 3:16 .on the digital clock . Next day scriptures started to hit me like " I have been given all authority " you will be wineses of ME " and the one i could never get over as a jw thomas saying " my Lord and my God " from that day i started to talk to my christian friends go to some churches i prayed to Jesus and asked for guidance . I settled for the local anglican church .they even still found my name on the records ..i started to take communion each week .i found it so moving i often had tears in my eyes.after being denied the body and blood of the Lord for over 50 years..during this time of awakening i prayed and asked if i was doing the right thing .many times i awoke in the early morning as though somone was in the room at 3: 16 exactly...a vicar friend i have know and delivered watchtowers to since 1975 said " it is a miracle that after all those years you have woken up to Jesus.. .i went to as many of my calls as i could and told them .i was so wrong and you were right all the time .i could go on but now to conclude i beg be kind to jws talk to them about Jesus and free grace .they are in a prison.

This resonated with me as I grew up JW but found my faith and the CROSS led me there. It was viewed as such a bad thing and never worn or worshipped in The JW abusive faction… well exactly what was blocking me is what God used to bring me close to Him. It was breathtaking and moving the moment and the way he did it. I no longer fear the cross but love it and feel the love from Jesus and in so so many countless other ways. It’s such a good thing that group has become smaller and smaller my only hope and prayer is for God to continue to show others what he’s shown us and bring them to Him in the ways they need and deserve and somehow get those misteachings and fear out of their minds and hearts

A pair won the lottery when they knocked on my door last month lol. Had them visiting me for 3 weeks straight but on the third week I invited them in and God made them even more inclined too because it was snowing lol. This time I had a buddy over. Let me say we really did our homework, a seed was planted. Even closed it with love bringing up Matthew 7:21-23 and just letting them this is out of love not a pi$$ing match (didn't use those words lol) so to speak. I even got a text later that day asking me about particular verses one wanted to do research on. Please pray daily for Don and John to be delivered from false doctrine and guided to the living word and understand truly who Jesus is and the holy Trinity.

Although the words “holy trinity” are not found in the Bible, the Bible both Old and New Testaments - clearly refers to the one God as a tri-unity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The term “trinity” is a contraction of “tri” (meaning three), and “unity” (meaning one): “tri” + “unity” = “trinity“. Simply put, the Holy Trinity is one God in three persons who each share the same essence of deity. God is the absolute compound unity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit - three persons in one divine essence. Three persons who share one divine nature. Think of a triangle - it has three corners, but it is still one triangle. What the Holy Trinity is Not: It is not three Gods, or three modes of one God, or three essences. God is also not three separate physical beings. The Trinity is not the Father, Mary and Jesus. There are on some occasions when I don't understand " all scripture " and I'm happy to listen to Teachers to explain the parts I don't understand . I used to be a Pentecostal . And you know just one thing stands out to me . I don't pray to Jesus , he's the son . I pray to the " hearer of prayer " God . Joel 2:32 The ' name of the Lord . Jehovah .

I know several ex JW's who call it a cult after being subjected to it for two decades or more. I also know of some whom the Lord is leading out, inch by inch discovering who Jesus truly is. You could see that their entire countenance changed when they came out. Parents refused to speak to them, other JW's stopped speaking to them but they persevered and the real Jesus became what they had lost.

@Shema Echad just because a early so called "Christian" Ruler declared a doctrinal truth doesnt mean the trinity is not the way God is. Jesus declared many times his truth as God in flesh so you ultimately have to denounce the NT and Jesus exsistance to justify you view. If your a Jew; I know OT passages that foretell Jesus coming and doings. And if you argue Jesus never existed and people claim to have seen or believed what they said. Then you have to take it up with historians and scholars who are consensually on the same page.
@lary Snw I think I can help. Prepare yourself, this is going to be long. Not all Pentecostal churches are good churches and don't teach scripture or teach their own doctrine. There are many accounts that you can look up online (I recommend googling 'Pentecostal Horror Stories' or something of that ilk and reading through people's personal testimonies of their experience in their church) and read for yourself. Here are a few of the stories people have told me. One girl I met when I was younger was r*ped when she went to a high school party. She was understandably traumatized by the experience and sought comfort from her parents. Her parents (pentecostal) basically disowned her, saying that it was God's punishment and she deserved what she got for her sin (going to the party). She was about 15 at the time. A second one was while I was working my job in retail, a woman asked me while I was ringing her up if I was Pentecostal (I wear long skirts and have uncut hair so it's noticeable if you know what you are looking for). I told her yes and was impressed because most people didn't get that. She told me that she grew up in a Pentecostal church down south but left after they shunned her because she married a Hispanic man. She told me a few other things about that church that I can't remember and I was horrified by their behavior. I told her stories of my church and told her that interracial marriage isn't against scripture and that in our church, even if people don't do something we approve of or is sinful, we don't shun or exclude them from church or social events. We include them as much as possible because we want them to feel welcome and want to share the love of Jesus with them. You can't do that if you are constantly throwing out people because you are more concerned with your church's image. Even just as recent as a few months ago, I heard about the first fifteen minutes of a sermon (not my pastor, it was some other pastor I had never heard of) where the pastor was aggressively condemning interracial marriages as sinful, even going as far as putting it on the same level as homosexuality and r*ping children. This made me so mad to the point where I only was able to listen to the fifteen minutes instead of the whole hour and I ravaged through the new and old testaments writing down scriptures, translations, and examples of God himself blessing interracial marriages (Moses and Zipporah being a popular example and God even cursing Miriam for a week with leprosy because she criticized the betrothal because Zipporah was black). Don't even get me started on snake revival churches. That being said, I am Pentecostal and have been all my life. I have struggled emotionally and spiritually sometimes more in my own church than I have in the world. I eventually came to realize that it's not about my relationship with the church that is the key to salvation, it's about my relationship with God, and the church is a place where people can come and hear the Word of God and socialize with other people, to help and give council to our brothers and sisters and find community and solace and refuge in times of difficulty. I have been in Pentecostal churches where I don't feel the presence of God and don't hear the truth of scripture being taught from the mouth of the preacher. Similarly, I have heard pastors from different denominations preaching sermons that I have no problem with because I know what the scriptures say and know it is true and not driven by personal convictions, opinions, and doctrine. There are conflicts and debates within the Pentecostal church as a whole and sadly, I have known several people who have been turned away from Christianity entirely because of the bad behavior and even trauma that Pentecostal churchgoers have caused other people over petty things. This is sad because that isn't why the Pentecostal church was founded and I know of many churches that are really good with holiness standards and good Christian people who just love God and want to share his message. To compare it to JW is unfair in my opinion because, in my experience and research, the two don't equate, but I am not saying that every single Pentecostal church is good because they aren't. I hope this helps a little bit in understanding where @New Eyes To See might be coming from. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
@lary Snw Yeah, I know people don't tend to elaborate in chats, but sometimes that's because they have a hard time talking about it or are afraid of talking about it. This may not always be the case but sometimes I just try to mediate peace between the two parties. I also wasn't clear if you were looking for a genuine answer or not, so I was giving you a few examples to give you some perspective on why some people don't have such fond views of Pentecostals in particular. Thanks for posting this. A great reminder that probably one of the best approaches to door-to-door proselytizing from non-Christians is to give one's testimony about the true and living God who is revealed in the Bible and in the world.

So agree with reading, wondering and asking the Lord for help in understanding. I also journal my questions (as well as everything else). My question(s) are genuine, but I don't generally ponder them too deeply - not even expectantly, anxiously awaiting an answer. Maybe I did at first... but, know what? Maybe, two days' later, while reading another passage in His Word, or hearing someone else read a passage of Scripture, He might say to me, "There's your answer to what you asked me a few days' ago!" Immediately, my spirt shouts, "Wow! Lord, I had forgotten that I asked! Thank You so much for this answer!"
My mother grew up a JW, she left it behind after she left home, she always said it felt like an abusive relationship built around fear of others. When you’re a JW, you are tough to fear non believers and not associate with them. As here son, I’m glad she made that decision.
I am an ex-JW. I was disfellowshipped for faith in Jesus Christ alone. During my judicial hearing (humiliating inquisition) the elders said I had "begun to interpret the Bible for myself" and I replied that is what we're supposed to do and they said "NO" and added that we NEED THE WATCHTOWER to do that! It was painful to undergo shunning and lose everyone, but I GAINED CHRIST! And I love JWs and am thankful for Christians who pray for them and try to reason with them. Set the captives free!
Yes THEY ARE CAPTIVES! I was raised one as well. I still will never get the feeling of my hand being put down and the dirty looks for my questions as a little kid. I have talks I loved it in my search for Jesus and it led me to an incredible nondenominational Church where they WANT the hard questions they want us to explore it and read and understand OUR FAITH for OURSELVES. it’s a beautiful thing the acceptance alone and the understanding. I absolutely loath the way JWs preyed on my vulnerable isolated mom and they promise IF this THEN THAT and that is NOT how God and life and faith works. It was so easy and clear to see so young but goodness do they really get their people and hold them captive. It’s similar to cults who practice polygamy and shun those who seek anything else and anything better or truer. It’s sad to say but I’m glad they’re becoming obsolete
I was raised as a Jehovah Witness. My family was one of the first when the religion began. I did not read the bible completely the entire time I was a witness. If I questioned the bible I was told not to. I left the religion along with my sisters and never looked back. I was told to stay away from the other religions that the people and the their bible was not true. Also that they are demonized and a demon could harass me if I was around people of the world. Now," People of the world is any person who is not a witness." I was terrified to go to my non-witness Grandmothers house because she was a Baptist. I know the truth as does my Mother, Sisters and our Children and Grandchildren. We have all accepted the One true God in our hearts as our Lord and Savior. As I matured I realized God is loving and merciful. I did not have to fear God any longer.
JohnBee no I have not. My uncles were and still are elders. I know this cult well. My great great grandfather was the first to join Jehovah Witnesses. I have watched friends as they were abused by the fathers who were overseers amd elders. While the congregation ignored the bruises. Do you know why? Because they questioned the New World Translation. God is good and loving. He is not to be feared.
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. Psalm 145:19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them. This was just an example of what fear of the LORD means. Scripture suggests that we should fear the LORD, but for good reason.

My husband's family were all Jehovah Witnesses and believe me I never met a more group of un Christians in my life. Glad I stood my ground and raised my children to believe in the truth and God.
You've never met an unreligious person? or a Jew or Muslim or Buddhist or Sikh? Are you saying you separated from your husband's family? did that include the husband? If-so You presumably got together when he was JW as well? Did you not convert to JW for the relationship? as far as I understand JWs won't marry with non-JWs. Perhaps you can correct me if I am mistaken.
Know what you mean. They won't fight for their country, are unpatriotic, won't vote in elections and won't even allow gays to be married in their Church.

If we have to interpret the Bible through the teachings of the Watchtower, and WTBTS continually changes it's positions. There is NO WAY to know if they are right today, or if they are wrong today, but maybe right in 3 years. If you wanted to get to some point on a map, and your guidance system kept giving you different directions, would you find a new system? How much more your eternal destination?

As a youngster in Jehovah's witnesses about 7 years of age I believed in God and prayed some nights alone. But what I didn't like was when my mum was disfellowshiped she was cast out and not only her but my siblings and I. We had to sit at the back row and couldn't speak to anyone. My mum would rush us out quickly in order to hide her shame I would see sisters at shopping centres who we loved and spoke with, snob us off. It hurt, but when I found Christ and he says sinners are precious and the way they worship God with everything I knew this was the one. Don't get me wrong Jehovah's witnesses have good teachings and are strict against the worldly things. No Christmas, birthdays, Easter no violent video games, no secular music. I think we can learn from different religions and adapt GOOD teachings and line it up with the Bible and keep Jesus Christ as lord and Savior. Period.

All Bibles say the same thing because they are all translations. The biggest difference is that the vast majority of the translations exclude God's name.
@@jbruce3121 Hey, wanted to share some info. The JW Bible actually differs quite a lot from a Received Texts version (for example KJV) in terms of Jesus being the savior. Changes in the JW Bible: John 8:1-11 - 11 WHOLE VERSES are missing. John 1:1 - in the JW Bible the Word(Jesus) is a lesser being "a god", and not God as it is in KJV. Acts 8:37 - Jesus being the sole way of being saved. Verse is missing. 1 John 5:7 - Jesus is part of the Trinity. Verse is missing. @@michaelp5907 John 7:53 is also missing just as they are missing from the first manuscripts (Vatican) where translators go. However, all the verses are in the footnote of the NWT just as it is in several other translations. They are there and they have nothing to do with Jesus relationship with his Heavenly Father. John 1:1, however does. Several other translations state "divine" or that the Word was "a god" whereas many others say "was God." Which translation is correct? ALL of them are. Verse 1: "the Word was with God" Verse 18: "in the bosom" of the Father or "closest to" or "nearest" or "at the Father's side." He has his father's features. He is his father and John was happy to write that. No one can imitate Jehovah like Jesus can. Jesus is God's Son. 1 John 5:7 is in the translation too.
@@jbruce3121 The corrupting of the Word of God has been since the very beginning, and that battle still goes on today. Of course not all translations are correct. Most of the translations today that we have today shouldn't even be called as such. They are corruptions which originated largely with Origen in the early years, and then were finally totally corrupted by Westcott and Hort in the 19th century. 331 A.D. Constantine ordered an ecumenical bible. Eusebius, who was a follower of Origen, wrote it. Throughout the middle ages, the Received Text was banned by the Catholic Church, and people were persecuted for having it. The Received Text was at this time kept safe by the Valdensians and others from Rome. The Valdensians paid for this "crime" with their lives. Even though the sources of the newly found texts are older(very likely one of the ecumenical bibles made for Constantine), we actually have letters of some early church fathers which quote verses that are in the Received Text, but not in the newly found texts, which prove the verses were originally there. The Received Text translations are the vast majority of Bibles that exist up until the 20th century or so. Did God keep the true Word from His people for so long? The professor in the video explains the trees of where these translations originate but failed to include the Sahidic Coptic translation anywhere which did come after 311 but more than 1000 years before Westcott. But thats just one translation where an indefinite article does appear. Whether it does or not in any other translation, "Trinity" appears in none of the translations and even where some texts are spurious, none of those give proof to the idea that Jesus is actually The Almighty who rescued God's people from Egyptian bondage. Even Acts 8:37, one of the spurious texts, says: Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” None of the translations would dare have Jesus say: "I am Yahweh (Jehovah). Instead they all say: "I and the Father are one" which is not the same thing. The video is informative but all translators are charged with correctly and accurately relaying every idea the way God interpreted it to be.

Amen! I’ve spent hours before in my front yard talking with Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons. We don’t always have the wonderful opportunity to witness to someone who loves God and is also on mission to talk about spiritual things. Take the opportunity! Francis Chan is such a blessed speaker and teacher of God's Word. That can only come from one place I think. And he experienced a typical Jehovah Witness response. Those ladies as representatives of the Watch Tower exemplify exactly why it is so difficult for them to comprehend the bibles true foundation. They prefere to listen to the governing body... I alway tell people to ask them who gave them the power to make changes to the scriptures. They will often say their Bible is similar, not so. I truly try not to judge and it is an individuals choice but they are not to be taken lightly and have destroyed many of families. 2 Cor 11:4 and 2 John 1;9-11 for starters. Jennifer Woodhead, I was just at a restaurant (yes they are open again in Arkansas) and the weather channel was on. They showed a picture of a red sky almost like the one in my dream. It was more than a little freaky. I have already asked God to give me everything I need to get through everything. I also pray for the same for all Christians. :) I just realized I was referring to my dream of last night, not this one from 10 months ago. My dream yesterday, there were fireballs from the sky, mixed with lightning, striking the wicked on earth.
The same thing happened to me. I started telling them prayers that were answered and asked if I could pray for them. I prayed and God answered and they came back the next week for me to pray about some more things.
THANK YOU, for this video. I have a tract ministry. That's how God Almighty told me to spread the gospel. I'm sitting in a local restaurant and 2 middle aged ladies came in and sat down in a booth right behind me, so I turned around and greeted them and offered them each one of my tracts. They said, "OH, WE DON'T NEED THAT. THERE IS NO HELL. WE'RE JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES." And I said, "In your dreams, sister!" I tried to counter them but had NO idea HOW to talk to them, because I had no idea WHAT their beliefs were. After I left there and got in my truck, I prayed all the way home. God put it on my heart to do a JW study and to dig up everything I could on them and to write a study guide to counter them in the field. I downloaded several of their Watchtower publications and installed their TRANSLATION of the bible and worked for days. I used Google resources and what I could dig up in their bible translation and found 112 sets of verses that had been removed from the bible. A verse here and two there and a page and a half there and a complete book there...that eliminated everything to do with the proving of HEAVEN AND HELL, Angels, Satan, Spirits, The Trinity of God, Where the WORD became Flesh and became God incarnate. They don't celebrate birthdays, holidays, they don't salute the country's flag they're in, they refuse armed services, blood transfusions, replacement organs, (unless all blood is rung out of it first), The Virgin birth, the angel stirring the water to heal the first that stepped in to be healed, and the PHYSICAL RAISING OF JESUS. (they believe spiritual only!) and a bunch of other hair-brained stuff and they're NOT to look at any other bible translation than the JW bible. They're Not to hang out with anyone other than JW's, and if one of their number does happen to find the truth, they are to be reported immediately so they can be SHUNNED, and everyone gets a warning about that shunned person and everyone is told NOT to read any texts no letters nor answer any phone calls from that shunned person because they'll hear the LIES of PAGANS !!! I wrote a 3 1/3 page study on JW's and used it to bring one JW to Christ. Then I duplicated it 4 dozen and handed them out to the members of my three bible study groups as well as our ministers. I ran out, so I had three more dozen copied and I added the 112 passages to it, that showed what all the JW's purposely LEFT out of the bible, to hide the truth. I have asked everyone to pass this info on to their respective other studies and churches. Each one of the Jehovah's witnesses stands to go to Hell. I'm Not judging! Just stating facts here. Their beliefs are severely tainted!

@@aspreedacore In Jesus prayer on the night of his arrest at John 17:22: “The glory which thou hast given me I have given to them; that they may be one, just as we are one.” This simply mean that Jehovah and Jesus are in one purpose and united just like Jesus' prayer in this verse that his apostles be one or united just as Jehovah and Jesus are one or united. The apostles can not be one just like on your preconceive belief in this verse that you believe it supports trinity.
@@sucrose3638 I'm anti trinitarian on the basis that the father is not co-equal with the son and that the father is in his own "class" of god such as being called god of god's in deutronomy 10:17 and the only so-called member of the godhead to be called most high. I love Francis Chan's enthusiasm and he's right on with a number of his points. However, confronting J.W.'s with subjective testimonials about answered prayer isn't a Biblical approach. There are all kinds of confused people out there who want to give testimonials about answered prayer who are obviously not true followers of Jesus. He did better towards the end of his discussion with them by pointing out the real problem - accepting human authority beyond the scriptures.
Revelation 12:11 says that part of the way that we overcome is by the word of our testimony. Our testimony is in fact very important, though it should not contradict the Bible. If all that we have is Scripture, and we aren't experiencing the reality of it in our own life, the case we're trying to make holds a lot less weight. We should be using our own testimonies to show evidence of the reality and truth of Scripture.
I get what you're saying about personal subjective experience not really being a claim that can be easily tested. Chan did define what God's biblical requirements are for answered prayer so there was a biblical context. He seems an authentic follower of Jesus. Maybe the Spirit guided him to present the gospel from that angle. If so, why quench it? Paul used the "inscription on an alter to the unknown god" as a starting point in Athens. That's not something literally and directly supported by the Torah, but it was relevant as a starting point for his audience. We like Paul can, "rejoice that Christ is preached."
Ben Weeks Yes, and when Jesus taught on the Kingdom of God, He used all sorts of parables that weren't based directly in Scripture. He used parables that His audience could relate to, in order to convey deep messages about God's Kingdom. He also demonstrated the reality of the Kingdom by healing the sick, raising the dead, cleansing lepers and casting out demons, as we are also commanded to do. Blessings to you!

I'm married to a witness (not a witness myself) and even tho I'm grateful to have any kind of Godly man at all I see the struggles he deals with because he knows there's just something not right there. I wanted to be and almost became a Jehovah's witness because I didn't know any better. To those who know nothing about the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ the King of Kings they come across as very knowledgeable and sincere. All of the Jehovah's witnesses I have met have all been very sincere and kind people. I wish them well and continue to pray for them to find the right path as I did. I tried preaching to them when they would stop by and now they don't stop by that much anymore.

Sometimes they will say they need to ask one of their elders the answer. I'm not faulting them for that, but they usually don't follow up with me. I am a Jewish believer in Messiah Yeshua. Never got a straight answer for Gen.19:24. In this verse, I see two Beings called Jehovah (YHVH or LORD) in the same verse. One is on the earth calling down fire and brimstone from Jehovah (YHVH or LORD) in heaven. God is unity, Deut.6:4. He us not 1+1+1=3. He is 1×1×1=1, a tri-unity.

I love this video. I joined jws in 1963 .age 18 .i was baptised into church of england as a child .i spent over 50 years debating and arguing with born again christians .over the last 20 years the jws organisation has become more controling and fear orientated .about 4 years ago i woke up to jesus .over the years i had made many friends of born again christians that i called on as a jw .some seed was sown .i woke up after i went to the jws memorial service where they pass the bresd and wine but do not partake which always bothered me .that night i was having problems sleeping thinking about what Jesus did for me .i awoke at exactly 3:16 .on the digital clock . Next day scriptures started to hit me like " I have been given all authority " you will be wineses of ME " and the one i could never get over as a jw thomas saying " my Lord and my God " from that day i started to talk to my christian friends go to some churches i prayed to Jesus and asked for guidance . I settled for the local anglican church .they even still found my name on the records ..i started to take communion each week .i found it so moving i often had tears in my eyes.after being denied the body and blood of the Lord for over 50 years..during this time of awakening i prayed and asked if i was doing the right thing .many times i awoke in the early morning as though somone was in the room at 3: 16 exactly...a vicar friend i have know and delivered watchtowers to since 1975 said " it is a miracle that after all those years you have woken up to Jesus.. .i went to as many of my calls as i could and told them .i was so wrong and you were right all the time .i could go on but now to conclude i beg be kind to jws talk to them about Jesus and free grace .they are in a prison.

This resonated with me as I grew up JW but found my faith and the CROSS led me there. It was viewed as such a bad thing and never worn or worshipped in The JW abusive faction… well exactly what was blocking me is what God used to bring me close to Him. A pair won the lottery when they knocked on my door last month lol. Had them visiting me for 3 weeks straight but on the third week I invited them in and God made them even more inclined too because it was snowing lol. This time I had a buddy over. Let me say we really did our homework, a seed was planted. Although the words “holy trinity” are not found in the Bible, the Bible both Old and New Testaments - clearly refers to the one God as a tri-unity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I know several ex JW's who call it a cult after being subjected to it for two decades or more. I also know of some whom the Lord is leading out, inch by inch discovering who Jesus truly is. You could see that their entire countenance changed when they came out. Parents refused to speak to them, other JW's stopped speaking to them but they persevered and the real Jesus became what they had lost.

Not all Pentecostal churches are good churches and don't teach scripture or teach their own doctrine. There are many accounts that you can look up online (I recommend googling 'Pentecostal Horror Stories' or something of that ilk and reading through people's personal testimonies of their experience in their church) and read for yourself. Here are a few of the stories people have told me.
One girl I met when I was younger was r*ped when she went to a high school party. She was understandably traumatized by the experience and sought comfort from her parents. Her parents (pentecostal) basically disowned her, saying that it was God's punishment and she deserved what she got for her sin (going to the party). She was about 15 at the time.
A second one was while I was working my job in retail, a woman asked me while I was ringing her up if I was Pentecostal (I wear long skirts and have uncut hair so it's noticeable if you know what you are looking for). I told her yes and was impressed because most people didn't get that. She told me that she grew up in a Pentecostal church down south but left after they shunned her because she married a Hispanic man. She told me a few other things about that church that I can't remember and I was horrified by their behavior. I told her stories of my church and told her that interracial marriage isn't against scripture and that in our church, even if people don't do something we approve of or is sinful, we don't shun or exclude them from church or social events. We include them as much as possible because we want them to feel welcome and want to share the love of Jesus with them. You can't do that if you are constantly throwing out people because you are more concerned with your church's image.
Even just as recent as a few months ago, I heard about the first fifteen minutes of a sermon (not my pastor, it was some other pastor I had never heard of) where the pastor was aggressively condemning interracial marriages as sinful, even going as far as putting it on the same level as homosexuality and r*ping children. This made me so mad to the point where I only was able to listen to the fifteen minutes instead of the whole hour and I ravaged through the new and old testaments writing down scriptures, translations, and examples of God himself blessing interracial marriages (Moses and Zipporah being a popular example and God even cursing Miriam for a week with leprosy because she criticized the betrothal because Zipporah was black).
Don't even get me started on snake revival churches.
That being said, I am Pentecostal and have been all my life. I have struggled emotionally and spiritually sometimes more in my own church than I have in the world. I eventually came to realize that it's not about my relationship with the church that is the key to salvation, it's about my relationship with God, and the church is a place where people can come and hear the Word of God and socialize with other people, to help and give council to our brothers and sisters and find community and solace and refuge in times of difficulty.
I have been in Pentecostal churches where I don't feel the presence of God and don't hear the truth of scripture being taught from the mouth of the preacher. Similarly, I have heard pastors from different denominations preaching sermons that I have no problem with because I know what the scriptures say and know it is true and not driven by personal convictions, opinions, and doctrine.
There are conflicts and debates within the Pentecostal church as a whole and sadly, I have known several people who have been turned away from Christianity entirely because of the bad behavior and even trauma that Pentecostal churchgoers have caused other people over petty things. This is sad because that isn't why the Pentecostal church was founded and I know of many churches that are really good with holiness standards and good Christian people who just love God and want to share his message. To compare it to JW is unfair in my opinion because, in my experience and research, the two don't equate, but I am not saying that every single Pentecostal church is good because they aren't.

@lary Snw Yeah, I know people don't tend to elaborate in chats, but sometimes that's because they have a hard time talking about it or are afraid of talking about it. This may not always be the case but sometimes I just try to mediate peace between the two parties. So agree with reading, wondering and asking the Lord for help in understanding. I also journal my questions (as well as everything else). My question(s) are genuine, but I don't generally ponder them too deeply - not even expectantly, anxiously awaiting an answer. Maybe I did at first... but, know what? Maybe, two days' later, while reading another passage in His Word, or hearing someone else read a passage of Scripture, He might say to me, "There's your answer to what you asked me a few days' ago!" Immediately, my spirt shouts, "Wow! Lord, I had forgotten that I asked! Thank You so much for this answer!"
My mother grew up a JW, she left it behind after she left home, she always said it felt like an abusive relationship built around fear of others. When you’re a JW, you are tough to fear non believers and not associate with them.

I am an ex-JW. I was disfellowshipped for faith in Jesus Christ alone. During my judicial hearing (humiliating inquisition) the elders said I had "begun to interpret the Bible for myself" and I replied that is what we're supposed to do and they said "NO" and added that we NEED THE WATCHTOWER to do that! It was painful to undergo shunning and lose everyone, but I GAINED CHRIST! And I love JWs and am thankful for Christians who pray for them and try to reason with them. Set the captives free!
Yes THEY ARE CAPTIVES! I was raised one as well. I still will never get the feeling of my hand being put down and the dirty looks for my questions as a little kid. I have talks I loved it in my search for Jesus and it led me to an incredible nondenominational Church where they WANT the hard questions they want us to explore it and read and understand OUR FAITH for OURSELVES. it’s a beautiful thing the acceptance alone and the understanding. I absolutely loath the way JWs preyed on my vulnerable isolated mom and they promise IF this THEN THAT and that is NOT how God and life and faith works. It was so easy and clear to see so young but goodness do they really get their people and hold them captive. It’s similar to cults who practice polygamy and shun those who seek anything else and anything better or truer. It’s sad to say but I’m glad they’re becoming obsolete

I was raised as a Jehovah Witness. My family was one of the first when the religion began. I did not read the bible completely the entire time I was a witness. If I questioned the bible I was told not to. I left the religion along with my sisters and never looked back. I was told to stay away from the other religions that the people and the their bible was not true. Also that they are demonized and a demon could harass me if I was around people of the world. Now," People of the world is any person who is not a witness." I was terrified to go to my non-witness Grandmothers house because she was a Baptist. I know the truth as does my Mother, Sisters and our Children and Grandchildren. We have all accepted the One true God in our hearts as our Lord and Savior. As I matured I realized God is loving and merciful. I did not have to fear God any longer.
JohnBee no I have not. My uncles were and still are elders. I know this cult well. My great great grandfather was the first to join Jehovah Witnesses. I have watched friends as they were abused by the fathers who were overseers amd elders. While the congregation ignored the bruises. Do you know why? Because they questioned the New World Translation. God is good and loving. He is not to be feared.
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Psalm 145:19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.
This was just an example of what fear of the LORD means. Scripture suggests that we should fear the LORD, but for good reason.

My husband's family were all Jehovah Witnesses and believe me I never met a more group of un Christians in my life. Glad I stood my ground and raised my children to believe in the truth and God.

If we have to interpret the Bible through the teachings of the Watchtower, and WTBTS continually changes it's positions. There is NO WAY to know if they are right today, or if they are wrong today, but maybe right in 3 years. If you wanted to get to some point on a map, and your guidance system kept giving you different directions, would you find a new system? How much more your eternal destination?

As a youngster in Jehovah's witnesses about 7 years of age I believed in God and prayed some nights alone. But what I didn't like was when my mum was disfellowshiped she was cast out and not only her but my siblings and I. We had to sit at the back row and couldn't speak to anyone. My mum would rush us out quickly in order to hide her shame I would see sisters at shopping centres who we loved and spoke with, snob us off. It hurt, but when I found Christ and he says sinners are precious and the way they worship God with everything I knew this was the one. Don't get me wrong Jehovah's witnesses have good teachings and are strict against the worldly things. No Christmas, birthdays, Easter no violent video games, no secular music. I think we can learn from different religions and adapt GOOD teachings and line it up with the Bible and keep Jesus Christ as lord and Savior. Period.

All Bibles say the same thing because they are all translations. The biggest difference is that the vast majority of the translations exclude God's name.
@@jbruce3121 Hey, wanted to share some info. The JW Bible actually differs quite a lot from a Received Texts version (for example KJV) in terms of Jesus being the savior. Changes in the JW Bible:
John 8:1-11 - 11 WHOLE VERSES are missing.
John 1:1 - in the JW Bible the Word(Jesus) is a lesser being "a
god", and not God as it is in KJV.
Acts 8:37 - Jesus being the sole way of being saved. Verse is missing.
1 John 5:7 - Jesus is part of the Trinity. Verse is missing.

However, all the verses are in the footnote of the NWT just as it is in several other translations. They are there and they have nothing to do with Jesus relationship with his Heavenly Father.
John 1:1, however does. Several other translations state "divine" or that the Word was "a god" whereas many others say "was God." Which translation is correct? ALL of them are. Verse 1: "the Word was with God"
Verse 18: "in the bosom" of the Father or "closest to" or "nearest" or "at the Father's side." He has his father's features. He is his father and John was happy to write that. No one can imitate Jehovah like Jesus can. Jesus is God's Son.

Of course not all translations are correct. Most of the translations today that we have today shouldn't even be called as such. They are corruptions which originated largely with Origen in the early years, and then were finally totally corrupted by Westcott and Hort in the 19th century.
331 A.D. Constantine ordered an ecumenical bible. Eusebius, who was a follower of Origen, wrote it.
Throughout the middle ages, the Received Text was banned by the Catholic Church, and people were persecuted for having it. The Received Text was at this time kept safe by the Valdensians and others from Rome. The Valdensians paid for this "crime" with their lives.
Even though the sources of the newly found texts are older(very likely one of the ecumenical bibles made for Constantine), we actually have letters of some early church fathers which quote verses that are in the Received Text, but not in the newly found texts, which prove the verses were originally there.
The Received Text translations are the vast majority of Bibles that exist up until the 20th century or so. Did God keep the true Word from His people for so long?

@@michaelp5907 JWs used the King James version for decades before using the New World. The professor in the video explains the trees of where these translations originate but failed to include the Sahidic Coptic translation anywhere which did come after 311 but more than 1000 years before Westcott. But thats just one translation where an indefinite article does appear.
Whether it does or not in any other translation, "Trinity" appears in none of the translations and even where some texts are spurious, none of those give proof to the idea that Jesus is actually The Almighty who rescued God's people from Egyptian bondage. Even Acts 8:37, one of the spurious texts, says:
Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
None of the translations would dare have Jesus say: "I am Yahweh (Jehovah). Instead they all say: "I and the Father are one" which is not the same thing. The video is informative but all translators are charged with correctly and accurately relaying every idea the way God interpreted it to be.

I love sharing with people about what God has done for me.
Francis Chan is such a blessed speaker and teacher of God's Word. That can only come from one place I think.
And he experienced a typical Jehovah Witness response. Those ladies as representatives of the Watch Tower exemplify exactly why it is so difficult for them to comprehend the bibles true foundation. They prefere to listen to the governing body... I alway tell people to ask them who gave them the power to make changes to the scriptures. They will often say their Bible is similar, not so.
I truly try not to judge and it is an individuals choice but they are not to be taken lightly and have destroyed many of families.

Jennifer Woodhead, I was just at a restaurant (yes they are open again in Arkansas) and the weather channel was on. They showed a picture of a red sky almost like the one in my dream. It was more than a little freaky. I have already asked God to give me everything I need to get through everything. I also pray for the same for all Christians. :) I just realized I was referring to my dream of last night, not this one from 10 months ago. My dream yesterday, there were fireballs from the sky, mixed with lightning, striking the wicked on earth.
The same thing happened to me. I started telling them prayers that were answered and asked if I could pray for them. I prayed and God answered and they came back the next week for me to pray about some more things.

I have a tract ministry. That's how God Almighty told me to spread the gospel. I'm sitting in a local restaurant and 2 middle aged ladies came in and sat down in a booth right behind me, so I turned around and greeted them and offered them each one of my tracts. They said, "OH, WE DON'T NEED THAT. THERE IS NO HELL. WE'RE JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES." And I said, "In your dreams, sister!" I tried to counter them but had NO idea HOW to talk to them, because I had no idea WHAT their beliefs were. After I left there and got in my truck, I prayed all the way home. God put it on my heart to do a JW study and to dig up everything I could on them and to write a study guide to counter them in the field. I downloaded several of their Watchtower publications and installed their TRANSLATION of the bible and worked for days. I used Google resources and what I could dig up in their bible translation and found 112 sets of verses that had been removed from the bible. A verse here and two there and a page and a half there and a complete book there...that eliminated everything to do with the proving of HEAVEN AND HELL, Angels, Satan, Spirits, The Trinity of God, Where the WORD became Flesh and became God incarnate. They don't celebrate birthdays, holidays, they don't salute the country's flag they're in, they refuse armed services, blood transfusions, replacement organs, (unless all blood is rung out of it first), The Virgin birth, the angel stirring the water to heal the first that stepped in to be healed, and the PHYSICAL RAISING OF JESUS. (they believe spiritual only!) and a bunch of other hair-brained stuff and they're NOT to look at any other bible translation than the JW bible. They're Not to hang out with anyone other than JW's, and if one of their number does happen to find the truth, they are to be reported immediately so they can be SHUNNED, and everyone gets a warning about that shunned person and everyone is told NOT to read any texts no letters nor answer any phone calls from that shunned person because they'll hear the LIES of PAGANS !!!
I wrote a 3 1/3 page study on JW's and used it to bring one JW to Christ. Then I duplicated it 4 dozen and handed them out to the members of my three bible study groups as well as our ministers. I ran out, so I had three more dozen copied and I added the 112 passages to it, that showed what all the JW's purposely LEFT out of the bible, to hide the truth. I have asked everyone to pass this info on to their respective other studies and churches. Each one of the Jehovah's witnesses stands to go to Hell. I'm Not judging! Just stating facts here. Their beliefs are severely tainted!

What does it mean to have this "Life More Abundant?" Jesus gives us this Life....not as the world gives. To walk in this is SO AMAZING. It is ever increasing. Heb 1 We now have one Hight Priest Jesus Christ. No more middle man...no more man teaching us anything. The Holy Spirit will teach us all things. As for being "under the authority" of anyone other than Christ Himself, well, I would encourage anyone stuck on that fly paper to seek out the deeper things of Christ by asking the Holy Spirit to burn off any residue of unbelief, so that your faith can fly. @@aspreedacore In Jesus prayer on the night of his arrest at John 17:22: “The glory which thou hast given me I have given to them; that they may be one, just as we are one.” This simply mean that Jehovah and Jesus are in one purpose and united just like Jesus' prayer in this verse that his apostles be one or united just as Jehovah and Jesus are one or united. The apostles can not be one just like on your preconceive belief in this verse that you believe it supports trinity.
@@sucrose3638 I'm anti trinitarian on the basis that the father is not co-equal with the son and that the father is in his own "class" of god such as being called god of god's in deutronomy 10:17 and the only so-called member of the godhead to be called most high. Also Jesus is heavily implied to have a beginning, a creation and angelic works.
It's like arguing about what Yetis like to eat. They both talk and talk about what they say Yeti eat and why they eat it and all the details of the diet, but neither can show anyone a good reason to believe in Yeti in the first place.
I love Francis Chan's enthusiasm and he's right on with a number of his points. However, confronting J.W.'s with subjective testimonials about answered prayer isn't a Biblical approach. There are all kinds of confused people out there who want to give testimonials about answered prayer who are obviously not true followers of Jesus. He did better towards the end of his discussion with them by pointing out the real problem - accepting human authority beyond the scriptures.
Revelation 12:11 says that part of the way that we overcome is by the word of our testimony. Our testimony is in fact very important, though it should not contradict the Bible. If all that we have is Scripture, and we aren't experiencing the reality of it in our own life, the case we're trying to make holds a lot less weight. We should be using our own testimonies to show evidence of the reality and truth of Scripture.
I get what you're saying about personal subjective experience not really being a claim that can be easily tested. Chan did define what God's biblical requirements are for answered prayer so there was a biblical context. He seems an authentic follower of Jesus. Maybe the Spirit guided him to present the gospel from that angle. If so, why quench it? Paul used the "inscription on an alter to the unknown god" as a starting point in Athens. That's not something literally and directly supported by the Torah, but it was relevant as a starting point for his audience. We like Paul can, "rejoice that Christ is preached."
Ben Weeks Yes, and when Jesus taught on the Kingdom of God, He used all sorts of parables that weren't based directly in Scripture. He used parables that His audience could relate to, in order to convey deep messages about God's Kingdom. He also demonstrated the reality of the Kingdom by healing the sick, raising the dead, cleansing lepers and casting out demons, as we are also commanded to do. Blessings to you!

I'm married to a witness (not a witness myself) and even tho I'm grateful to have any kind of Godly man at all I see the struggles he deals with because he knows there's just something not right there. He just wants to worship his loard and tries to look past the elephant in the room. I can't wait to show him this video. With his heart and love for the lord he is meant for so much more
I wanted to be and almost became a Jehovah's witness because I didn't know any better. To those who know nothing about the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ the King of Kings they come across as very knowledgeable and sincere. All of the Jehovah's witnesses I have met have all been very sincere and kind people. I wish them well and continue to pray for them to find the right path as I did. I tried preaching to them when they would stop by and now they don't stop by that much anymore.
JohnBee there isn't anything better than Jesus Christ. When I think about how much He loves me and what He has done for me and what He does for me everyday I get teary eyed with gratitude. I love Jesus!
JohnBee Jehovah's witnesses practice false religion because they don't believe that Jesus is the Son of God. The Mormons practice false religion because they worship Joseph Smith. Religion is ritual based. I don't have religion I have faith in the One True God and His Son Jesus Christ. The best faith is one that is Bible based. Best wishes to you.
JohnBee I see what you're saying but Jesus Christ IS God. That's the point that you're missing. Also the JW version of the Bible has been altered to suit jw doctrine. Jehovah's witnesses have repeatedly tried to predict the future but only God knows the future. If you're not walking with JESUS CHRIST then you're walking with the devil.

Sometimes they will say they need to ask one of their elders the answer. I'm not faulting them for that, but they usually don't follow up with me. I am a Jewish believer in Messiah Yeshua. Never got a straight answer for Gen.19:24.
In this verse, I see two Beings called Jehovah (YHVH or LORD) in the same verse. One is on the earth calling down fire and brimstone from Jehovah (YHVH or LORD) in heaven.

This why one reason I believe In Jesus the son of God. I was in a Motorcycle accident in 1990. The Ems said I was going to have the worst pain in my life as they were going to pulled my broken femur apart . I asked for a min to pray and I did and I felt no pain when he pulled my leg apart. I have my own miracle and thank God every day
