    It's so sad to consider that great geniuses like Beethoven never lived long enough to see what pianos would become! 💔

    So could we say that the piano was a natural evolution of the harpsichord?

    • @Ekvitarius
      @Ekvitarius Год назад +3

      No it’s a separate instrument. They coexisted for a while in the 18th century and everyone thought of them as different instruments

      @@Ekvitariusyes but the subsequent death of the harpsichord would suggest otherwise?

      Yes, they're separate instruments, but also 'yes' the harpsichord was the lodestone for the piano, and a definite stage of its evolution.@@Ekvitarius

    All the "invention of the piano" video's I am seeing neglect to mention that although early Hammer Claviers and Clavichords were very soft, they also had keys that initiated striking of strings with a tangent, or a leather covered hammer and had been extant since the late 1500's and earlier for the clavichord, and could be played very very softly or soft medium.. Also no mention is made of early piano developer save Cristofori. i believe it was Silberman, (in northern europe) who improved or invented the escapement, and compound action for accellerating the hammers in the early-ish 1700's.

    Christopher Bartholomew
    deserves to keep the title as the
    inventor of The first PIANO-FORTE
