@@swagnostic132 Not really. "Telekinesis" is just the description of the ability to move things by thinking. It is explained in a multitude of ways in different fictional universes. There is no single definition. Having this ability explained through manipulation of electromagnetic fields doesn't mean it's not telekinesis. Storm, Magneto, and Archangel all have the ability to fly even though they achieve it in different ways.

Just regular guys who have regular lives, relationships, real life problems in a broken home situation facing financial difficulty. It showed what teenage boys would actually wanna do if they had superpowers and slowly learning to use them as they got stronger and stronger. I feel the ending was appropriate too. Like how were you supposed to kill someone who could make himself invulnerable at will? Well..you take him by surprise, against his will, stab him in the back when he least expects it. And finally when Matt just goes off..leaving a hopeful tone to the movie..in a true hero finale, where heroes are not born but forged.

You know that MOGO is legitimately more interesting then just some space rock 3 teenagers just so happen to find that gives them telekinetic powers.
Kind of wished the writers could follow up on that aspect. Like we see what would have happened if a MOGO was successful in turning a human into a drone. Maybe going as far as to give the drone powers to make sure they can aquire nutrients for it no matter the obstacle?
Now that you mention it the drone process would make sense as to why they could sense when one of them was in danger.

This movie's concept was "borrowed" from a 2002 very low budget B movie called "The Source" or sometimes called "The Surge." In this movie, four teenagers find a glowing crystal-like rock in the woods. When they touch it, it gives them all powers. Although in this film the four teens each get different abilities. One gets Telepathy, another gets Hypnotism, another gets Telekinesis and the last gets the ability to heal himself and others. One difference is the teens run out of power and need to keep recharging from the crystal in the woods.
The four powered up teens proceed to run around their school causing mischief. It's all fun until one decides to rule the school and ultimately the world. The other's have to band together and stop the would be super dictator.
I'm not saying that the story idea was stolen, but it's very similar. I think the evil teen even kills one of the others, if I remember correctly, but it's been awhile since I've seen it.

Apparently Trank intentionally flaked and sabotaged the production of "Chronicle 2" years ago.
There is a new Chronicle 2 allegedly in the works according to John Davis, who talked about it in a Forbes interview.
"... We’re working on Chronicle 2 right now, and I think it’s going to be great. We’re working on it at Fox (20th Century Studios). It’s going to give us a chance to tell the story in a different way. We’re going to tell it from the female point of view. It will have been ten years since the event happened in Seattle, and a lot of it’s going to deal with fake news and real news and cover-ups. More interestingly, it’s the next generation getting these powers that are corruptive. These are young women just finishing college, they are empowered, and this is their journey. I mean, what a new and interesting story you can tell there."

4:54, Landis also described the MOGO’s as being able to generate radio waves (which was how they lured their future converts) and that these theoretically zombie-like drones possessed a link between each other (and likely to the MOGO as well) to presumably coordinate their efforts. I imagine this apparent, imperfect telepathy is meant to be related to that. It is interesting that their telekinesis meant to be a result of them generating what are essentially electromagnetic force fields. Makes them more in line with Fox’s other famous (technically) telekinetic character, Magneto, who moves matter and has even demonstrated the ability to shape his fields into barriers.
6:02, and while the writer has stated this wasn’t a result of Andrew’s power misfiring, it would certainly still fit if it was considering the electromagnetic nature of their powers.

Can't help but to see lots if similarities between Andrew, and Tetsuo Shima from 'Akira'. Not saying it's a bad thing, just sudden realization is all. Love this film and wish it was more popular than it is, such an underrated film

Imo, this is the best movie about powers and what they would do to people. Actual, "normal" people.
Especially the character growth in this movie is phenomenal! The personal development, the way their relationship to each other grows and changes. I'm a big superhero fan, especially Spidey, but this movie really caught me off guard. Awesome stuff that deserves continuation.

I saw this film a couple of months ago, and despite it covering some very heavy themes like child abuse and mental distress, I think this a brilliant, well crafted film. I’ve never seen a super hero film like this before and I doubt we’ll ever get something like this again.

Dark, gritty and realistic get thrown around a lot now because of the tone of a superhero movie but "Chronicle" truly does show how teenagers would react to gaining superhuman abilities and how tramma can affect how you handle these powers.

I loved the film and like most excellent sci-fi films it is based on well-written characters. The theme of how average teens would use super powers was a very interesting--power corrupting. Some troubled kids would use a gun but in this case, Andrew WAS the gun. Very creative and showed Josh Trank could do great work with a low budget independent film. I would like to see new movies made of a similar theme maybe more of a horror combination.

Worth noting that Chronicle and FFour both share inspiration from the anime Akira, notably the hospital gown/bandaged scarred/abused antagonist using telekinetic power against military and scientists respectively…

The reason this movie will be so magnificent to watch in future and generations to come, will be because the “caught on camera” style of filming, Is so perfect for gen z where lots of social media looks like this. It’s perfect for someone of this generation to enjoy cuz what was weird for someone in 2012 with all the recording and vloging, compared to teens of this generation where videos and films like chronicle are the norm, would definitely be liked by gen z and future generations because it’s so relatable. I saw this movie in theaters when I was 9-10 years old and loved it since, but I love it x20 more just because I’m 18 now and films like chronicle are structured like most RUclips and TikTok videos. Almost reminds me of AMP(you tubers) low key !

The movies amazing and I find different details to admire each time. Three trio is believable in how they just mess around with their powera and it brings them closer together. It starts as a fun movie but quickly takes a turn after Andrew embarrasses himself at the party. After rewatching I remember a line Matt said to Andrew after the talent show. "I can see your head getting bigger. If you dont humble yourself itll be your downfall."
While the whole trio are the stars the story is clearly Andrew's and how his trauma and feeling powerless makes him strive to be an apex predator and have no remorse, even for the people closest to him.

Honestly I really hoped Andrew would survive and would become a villain but i still loved the end. I understand the pain he was going trough and as wrong as it seemed i hoped he would've escaped and live the life he wanted. I knew he would become the villain because of all the abuse and watching the film you could tell he became enraged and couldn't control his power and went more mentally unstable. When his father started blaming him for his mothers death i just couldn't wait until he would stop it. His emotional outrage was just going to happen. This film showed how emotional stress and abuse can lead you to doing things you never wanted. I also think Steve's death impacted him in a deep level because they shared a bond with having "broken" families. He needed someone to talk but he just shoved away everyone around him and he didn't believe they weren't his friends because of the things his father said. I just really loved this movie. It felt so real.

The most important detail about the movie I really like is that it really shows what three teenagers or persons in general would do with their powers. Most shows or movies that involves super powers always involves them knowing how to use their powers and never really go into details on how much they train and use their powers. Like Matt said ,”It’s like working out. The more we use our powers, it stretches like muscle and that’s why we bleed and we’re getting stronger”. That’s not exactly what he said but something close to that. It’s sad that Matt had to kill his own cousin to stop him from hurting people :(
