That looks so good. I have the sonof E dongle. If I would turn my existing sonof dongle into router/repeater mode then could the SM light be my new coordinator?
Sure can. These SMLight coordinators are great, not because is the hardware (which is amazing BTW, especially that huge antenna) but the fact that they actively support the community. They are a great company to get behind.
Great video, thanks! Have watched your previous video about the SMlight Zigbee coordinators. I currently use a Conbee 2 coordinator with ZHA and wonder how I can switch to this SMlight coordinator. Any plans for a instruction video? Would be great.
I used to be a ConBee 2 person a while back and made the move. I really should have videoed the move but didn't. I'll see if I can implement in a test environment and how difficult it would be the film.... on it :)
Original UI is so great that using HA integration kills the perfect dashboard expiriance. I see no reason to use this integration at all. most important to have devices in HA and not coordinator itself. There should not be integration for such devices. it's pointless imo, it's already have its own UI, why make new one? you cant control coordinator in any meaningful way anyway so why bother adding integration of device that exposes nothing. you cant enable pairing mode via HA, so....why to have this integration? to be able to see updates? :)
Hi SW, I totally agree the current UI is amazing, best in class by far!!. The reason I am created the video the way I did was not only to show the features of the integration but also the parallel to the existing UI. It's nice that they have this feature now available and that you don't need to go into the UI, but I actually prefer the UI. So yes I have it installed and yes, I track updates now within HA and more information is better than less. I'm just impressed that SMLight continue to innovate on so many different levels.
These devices are a great example of how things should be done! Plus the new HA integration is very convenient. Thanks for the detailed video.
Yes, I love the device too and the integration makes it so simple to use!
Very informative video. Thanks again for the great information
You are most welcome. I highly recommend these coordinators and the SMLight team are top notch. Super helpful.

The temps of this thing do get hotter than I'd like (>68°C)
Have you calibrated it ? Check out community.home-assistant.io/t/smlight-slzb-06m-running-hot/771572?t=true
