    All good info. My sister just became the HR director of a community college just by getting her certification, even though she was the HR clerk of a small grocery store before applying. The certification really does open doors.

      Congrats to your sister! It's super helpful once you get seasoned in your HR Career. So many folks think that's the only way to get started and it's not. I have an HR Director video coming last week. That will be the last video of this series. Keep an eye out for it and please share it with your sister. I'm sure she'll find it helpful.

    How hard is it to get into an hr management position with just a bachelor’s and hr certification? I’m considering a master’s in hr management. It’s a 10 month program. Some say yes to masters and some say no! I guess my concern is how far can you climb up the ladder with just a BA and how fast? Considering the cost of a master’s vs just certifications. Right now I’m studying for the Aphr certification and should be getting it soon . Excited about taking the initial step. I have an associate degree in communication and my ba in humanities… I worked in hr as an assistant many years ago for 1.5 yrs only. Now I’m in the insurance industry and do get involved in the benefits part of hr.

    Hey Tamika,
    I have a degree in communications but all my work experience has been in customer service
    Over the years I was opportuned to carry out an assignment of acquiring talent/hiring for my organization and I love it!
    I want to break into Hr so I came to youtube,googled Hr career and your video was the first that popped up and i love all you contents.
    My question is,I currently live in Nigeria so switching careers is a bit tough do you advise I take a diploma course in Hr?

    Hi Timeka, you know a good book that I would pay for is one that shows you how to do navigate all the technologies most commonly used in HR.

    • @HeyyyHR
      @HeyyyHR  Год назад +2

      Hmmm? 🤔 They’re all so unique & customizable to the business & the other structure that I can’t think of one book that can ever teach that, but each system normally has a support contact or embedded trainings 💜

    Hey Tamika! I love, love. love your HR series! I've watched a lot of your videos; you are fun to watch and easy to understand! I wondered if you could help me understand if I'm qualified HR to become a Human Resource Manager. My most recently job was as a contractor for small financial startup company as Sr Talent Recruiting Consultant for 2 years. Prior experience;10+ years as retail store operations manager. I have MBA, but I'm not HR certified. I'm interested in becoming a HR Manager but finding most HR Manager postings request PHRs or SHMR. l feel stuck and a bit confused on whether I should still apply, because I qualify for most of the posting requirements? Should I still apply? Or do need apply to lower HR positions, like HR assistant or coordinators until I get certified? I really want to transition in becoming a HR manager. Any advice will be appreciated. Also, do you offer HR career counseling? If so, please let me know where to apply. Thank you in advance!

    • @HeyyyHR
      @HeyyyHR  2 года назад

      Yes, I would apply but from your experience, I would suggest your next role to be a HR Generalist role. That will give you the full HR experience before diving into a manager role. Seek an organization that will pay for your certification and study material, then get certified while in the role. Being certified is NOT the only reason you wouldn't qualify. What Advice would you give a first time HR MANAGER?

    • @HeyyyHR
      @HeyyyHR  4 месяца назад

      1. Learn the org before implementing changes. 2. Get to know your team and always appreciate them. 3. Create goals that align with the org and take your time to complete them. It's not a sprint, its a marathon.
