It allows you to double jump (or is it triple?) right after a previous triple jump. Instead of the jumps resetting. In that level there was only enough room for a triple jump and Ryu couldn’t do one without a phantom. He couldn’t get over the spikes. Thus the level is unbeatable.
Yeah, a phantom jump is that you do the double/triple jump on the fourth/fifth jump.
After they patched it you can't do it anymore so it starts with a normal jump again on the fourth jump.
I believe you used to do it by turning back a bit in the middle of the triple, but don't quote me on that.

@@BlueCheeseCrumbles Have you ever watched his streams? Even in fairly recent ones, I've seen him drop the F-bomb. Heck, recent videos have plenty of uncensored curse words. His older streams used the have $4.20 as the minimum to have the computer read out a donation message, which is some kind of reference to marijuana. One of his old 100-man videos has a comment where a guy lied to his wife about about where his kid picked up the F-word from Ryu because he wanted to keep watching it with his kid. He constantly makes a big deal of 69. Ryu is not naturally inclined to be family friendly.

I don’t really understand why he does this. I’ve noticed it too though. If he really thinks his fans want to watch SMM1 content, why is he clickbaiting with the wrong tag? And yes, I’m salty about it because I wasn’t into watching it flaying Mario Maker during the SMM1 era, so I have no nostalgia or love for the first game.

I'd love to see some uncleared expert in SMM since there aren't anymore levels being made, could make for a fun series until they're all completed
Apparently, they cleared all of the levels that were made the first year that SMM1 came out (according to ThaBeast). The Team 0% Discord server is currently working on clearing all 2019 uncleared levels in SMM2 since that’s the year it came out. Both ThaBeast and Panga make videos about this series and it’s a blast to watch because as more and more levels get cleared, the leftover ones tend to be really challenging. It would be great if Ryu took on the challenge as well, but since he isn’t even doing Iron Bros, I don’t see him jumping on any trends or challenges. Even if it would be fun to watch.

I think endless mode on mm2 forced Ryu to improve so now he just flies through super expert on mm1

I play Mario Run on my ipad when I get bored. It’s pretty easy, but entertaining enough that I still enjoy it from time to time.

The good old days of 100 Mario's are back again. Thats 100 more Mario's biting the dust. They introduce the fling up in Mario World never to return unless you count Mario maker games.

It is very different to classic Mario 2D platforming, but some of the challenges in the late game can get quite tricky and it has a good amount of extra content.

In my personal opinion I feel like SMM1’s super expert no skip is way better than smm2 I think it’s that in SMM1 you have a goal and it’s satisfying to see you go for Princess Peach instead of just playing levels in SMM2. I love all your videos!!!
the bad is that MM1 feels outdated now, most of the levels are the same and even if it is super expert it is more akin to whan an expert level or normal even is on SMM2
SMM2 you have goal which is surpass yourself and others. Apparently people can't make their own goals without the game telling to do something lol.

"Mario big adventure babyyyy" needed a powerup for each key and every path gave you a powerup for another key. You just start the level picking the powerup of your choice for whatever first key lies ahead.
Hey @ryukahr - Super Mario Run is the first Nintendo iOS Game - the character never stops and you tell it when to jump. :)

Ok, so here's the argument against 100 Mario. If you didn't beat 6 levels in 100 lives, chances are it's because a single level was pure suffering for like half an hour. But a normal person would just skip. So if you are just skipping hard levels, with 100 lives success is essentially guaranteed. Which isn't really an accomplishment at that point. The rare exception would be a person who is too good for expert but not quite good enough for super expert, where each level is a legitimate challenge. But I think their logic for removing it was sound
That would be an argument for dropping the life count, not removing it entirely. So MM2 could have had the 30 Mario Challenge: 6 levels in 30 lives. With the Boo mechanic, you'd be a lot less likely to run across the gimmick garbage levels anyway. Real kaizo (like the old Friday night race levels) might still be a problem, though.

You didn't actually explain what a Phantom Jump is. So here's an explanation:
It's a trick that make you do a triple jump with only 2 jumps. Do perform it you you need to do a triple jump and, on the descent of the third jump, you flick the analog stick backward* and then forward again. It will count that as the first jump, hence the name phantom jump. After that you only need to do two real jumps to do the triple jump.
*The opposite direction in which you were going.
The level at 27:47 reminded me of the spiny level lol

It's a way to do a triple jump with only 2 jumps. After you triple jump you flick left then back right and it gives your next jump an instant double jump then next triple jump. So single, double, triple, double, triple jump.

I know what a phantom jumo is and I know it was removed but I was under the impression that levels that use patched tricks are still beatable, like the level always stays on the patch it was created in. I remember you talking about something before that made me think that but it seems I was wrong.
Yeah, Nintendo learned from its mistakes and did better (a sentence that I'm almost surprised to be writing) with SMM2 so that patches in that game are not retroactive. Unfortunately, patches were retroactive in SMM1, resulting in many impossible levels on the server.
