You can clearly see the old cage is bent out of shape but you can also roll the cage on the ground to see if it rolls straight. It is especially important when buying a new cage. Good job. -hvac tech
I use a 5 ton blower as a fan in my shop next to my glue/insulation table. I can tell you I've had 1/2" thick of insulation stuck to those blades before I've cleaned it and it always turns true. If they had balancing weights on it that came off might cause that problem but certainly off balance, not the motor. I would think all you had to do was straighten the bent blades for an easy fix. Keep that motor it's still good and new one will almost certainly not make the life of the system, a crime what they charge for those today.
I believe it was a two-part problem. An imbalanced fan wheel and a motor with shorted windings. I replaced the motor, which brought it back to life but there was still severe vibration that changing the wheel fixed. I think either a weight came off or it was misshapen enough to be out of balance.
Thank you

@@JakeStreisand Thank you. It's still running good so I'm happy I could effect my own repairs
I had a blower fan disintegrate. Fortunately the motor got shut off before it burned out. Trickiest part was the wires on the control board.
They call it a Squirrel cage, but it is really a Hamster wheel.
That does make more sense lol

So… did it fix your problem?
