  • An introduction to the work of students of the School of Philosophy and Economic Science in Ireland who have created a 'no dig' organic garden in the Walled Garden in the grounds of Townley Hall in Co. Louth, Ireland.
Join us as we show you our enchanting Walled Garden at Townley Hall, which has been a labour of love by us and our fellow students and over the past couple of years. The seed for the idea to develop a garden at Townley Hall was planted during the COVID-19 pandemic when the vulnerability of our food systems became clear.
For many the need to connect with the Earth was also awakened. Access to fresh, quality food is not guaranteed for all, even in a food-rich nation like Ireland. Access to land and skills to grow food is also not a given. Our philosophy of responding to the need and the wish that ‘May all be Happy’ spurred us into action.
Inspired by community gardens worldwide and initiatives like the 'Share the Harvest farm’, we planned a ‘Grow to Share’ vegetable garden and teamed up with Food Cloud, a charity that spreads kindness by rescuing and redistributing surplus food.
If you would like to know more about our garden, or would like to volunteer, check out our website practicalphilosophy.ie and contact us. We meet most Saturdays at 10am until 2pm in rain and shine. Thank you for watching
