Polpo's test is amazing, if you fail and don't relight the ligher, it's ok, if you fail and relight, you either die or get a Stand, if you don't fail the gang got another obedient member.
The key to keeping the match on forever is to play my mixtape because it's heat 🔥. Also a little detail you might not have noticed, Black Sabbath appeared right behind Polpo before he shot himself to protect him from the bullet because it is a stand's will to protect its user, however it wasn't fast enough, unlike Jotaro when Star Platinum caught it in Part 3, shows you how Star Platinum is still busted and op.
I don't think that's what it was. It was probably to represent that his stand also died, to drive the point home that it was indeed his, and to show that this particular arrow won't be a problem anymore, since in the manga they clearly show it breaking.

Polpo turning into a bed is like that dude in part 4 being an alien. At these points, you can practically sense Araki messing with the universe, and he only gives one excuse: "BECAUSE I CAAAAAN."
The lighter task is truly brilliant. The gang either finds someone who is so unbelievably talented that they can keep that thing lit for 24 hours, getting past security guards twice with it lit, or they get a new stand user. That, or they die, which is no skin off their nose. And it’s truly perfect because the lighter will cast shadows, even if it’s bright out, allowing Black Sabbath to appear.

I believe the ending was just supposed to make the themes of fate more obvious tbh. Bruno could have died peacefully as a sleeping slave, but because Mista and Bruno rejected that, Bruno went on to meet Giorno, which in turn caused the other deaths.

Stand users are still attracted to each other by fate, and you cant tell me it was a coinsidence that gappy is a fusion of 2 joestars. so imo the concept of destiny still applies. And even if it doesnt apply in the new universe it 100% is a thing from part 1 to part 6. The ending of part 6 in universe was always fated to happen.
I must say, Polpo is one of my favourite minor villains. His talk about trust and God forgiving murder, how he looks (pretty weird but he look dangerous), his dope stand...
My headcanon is Giorno getting hit by the arrow in this fight is the reason he lost that deflection ability and gained the ability to heal/regrow parts.

The lighter would go out if your phone goes to rest, switches tabs, gets a phone call, and if it is shaken to much. I think even the mic could effect the lighter. The cool thing is that the first 30 people who won got a passione member badge.

Part 5 of jojo is so dark, because Hirohiko Araki, the author, was struggling with depression between the end of part 4 and the beginning of part 5 which would influence part 5’s story and more darker material, he has since recovered after part 5
Every part does get better as time goes on, Araki's constantly changing his game and being an absolute king in the process. Current JoJo (Part 8) is the best it's ever been (even though Part 7 is THE GOAT, Part 8 is my favourite).
You're probably far enough along that I can say that Part 5 is by far the most brutal part. Not my favorite part but it's definitely up there, really looking forward to your reactions with the torture dance.
