  • Using an oscilloscope we examine what the Arturia MicroFreak's confusing oscillator parameters do, and then show how that knowledge can be applied to reproduce some classic analog-style synth techniques.
    If there's interest I can do additional videos on the other oscillator types.

    Thanks. I needed this. Many of the Microfreak's osc's are incomprehensible. 😉

    Thank you for your effective and thorough demonstration. As a complete beginner, I can say that your video is well worth more than hours of pouring through manuals (and other Microfreak demo videos).

    Great content, I was just talking about how it's so fun to make sounds on the microfreak but hard to dial in specific sounds sometimes because of the mysterious parameters. This was very informative and I especially liked being able to see the waves as you changed them. Thanks for the tips!

    I really like this breakdown. You should do another video for the other oscillators.

      Sure thing. Those might necessitate a one-at-a-time deeper dive, since people will be generally way less familiar with the principles behind them. Is there any you'd like me to tackle first?

    This is SUPER helpful, technically this is in the manually but explained so incredibly briefly and badly it might as well not be there, especially the virtual analogue oscillator. Thanks!

    Hope to see if you have any other good videos that have good tips and tricks!

    I've hadn't noticed how silly some of the naming of the parameters are. Wave is actually shape and shape is actually wave... Great explanations! Very helpful. Been playing around with my MF for about a week now and having tons of fun so far

    Bad on arturia for the flip flopping parameter naming and the use of those silly beakers instead of a simple oscilloscope view...

      I use the one included with the Free Bundle from Melda Plugins. You can use it with any VST host (I use Cakewalk). I plug the audio output from my MiniFreak into the input on my Scarlett audio interface.

    Ive heard/read that one can run 35 modulations at once via the matrix....so, has any mad-ass-synthesist tried this?!?! :D :P

    • @Thoracius
      @Thoracius  3 года назад +1

      5 sources * 7 destinations = 35 modulations. No reason you couldn't do it, but of course oftentimes in sound design less is more. Some of the modulations wouldn't make much sense or be very musical.
