    I did mine through the wheel well, didnt need to remove fan shroud. Mine is 4wd so the front transaxle and support made removing the bolt challenging. The rubber hoses bend upwards to let the compressor out of the cage formed by the frame and ac bracket. Its tricky unplugging the unit before removal, but once its on its way out you can get to the relases. I plugged mine back in after the new one was remounted and the plug can partially be see from laying position under car. Had to go by feel to get it plugged back in though. I would have done this before install, but couldnt find plug it was hanging down in an unseen area.

      Yeah,I've done the compressor through the wheel well hundreds of times,just wanted to show this way also,takes me no time to take the fan and fan shroud off.When u do as many as I do you change it up,lol.

    What about the pressures and freon once you removed them 2 lines

      I use my gauges and attachments to let out freon slowly,but this vehicle didn't have any freon in it.if you have a recover machine you can use that,I also pull a vacuum on the system for about 20 minutes.

    There's no need to remove the fan and shroud.

      I like to remove them,doesn't take long and gives me more room,but no you don't have to remove them. I just always do,but I've done a thousand of them,lol.

    What is the function of the high pressure switch,because mine is running without it and working fine.will running without the switch affect anything?thanks

      The high pressure switch cuts off power to the compressor when the high side pressure reaches over 250 psi to avoid damaging the compressor,without it you risk the high side pressure going to high,if everything is working fine you don't have to worry about it,but in a case where something gets restricted,like a condenser,or orifice tube,etc.the compressor will continue to run and may result in failure.

    My senser in the back if the compressor blew out completely.... I thought it was a major leak in the system or lines... so I put alot of money into dye not to find anythinh.... I was under the truck today and found this wire hanging... I thought.. now what in the hell is this... saw the hole in the back of compressor.. realized this is where all of the 18oz cans of 134a ov bought.. tried adding it.. only to have my ac clutch engage.. and spew all the refrigerant out in 5 to 10 zeconds...

      Yup,that type of high pressure switch usually don't blow out unless it's been overfilled with freon,anyway thanks for watching..

      Does the compressor mess up if the pressure switch blew out?

    • @timzauto
      @timzauto  10 месяцев назад

      Not necessarily,but you need to find out why the switch blew out.

    Why would you not do it from the passenger side tire well?

      I do the 2-wheel drive from there, this one was a 4wd.
