The author of this brilliant piece of music is not Caccini. The author is Vladimir Vavilov (1925-1973). A composer who lived in Soviet Russia. He knew that he would not be allowed to perform this piece because it was religious. To get around the ban, he wrote the name of a little-known Italian composer, and the authorities were allowed to perform it.

Has anyone noticed the harmonic and melodic similarities of this piece (in places) to Jerome Kern’s “All the Things You Are”??? Not only did Caccini not write it, but it appears Vavilov had a little (possibly unknowingly) help from another composer!
