@gpgfan If Bona doesn't fit into your concept of groove, I'm really at a loss for what your idea of groove could be. No offense intended, I'm just struggling to understand. As a huge Jaco fan, I've seen all the clones, and Bona is one of the only ones who can actually pull it off, much less with any taste or respect. I'd be curious to hear about who, in your mind, can do the Jaco thing and groove.
Nobody! Jaco is unique. He is stiil the only player i have seen that was was capable to keep on groovin when he was playing fast technical stuff. Bona can play the technical stuff but cannot play the groove! And even the technique of Bona is not that special. Marcus has that same groovepower as Jaco (maybe even more) but has his different style.
@gpgfan Come on, you cannot be serious! You should listen more to Bona (onstage), he's awesome and one of the best bass players there's out there. Really, I recommend you to go, buy some tickets and see him!

I think Richard is amazing and also other guys, He definitely Can Hold the groove. Anyway I think music is not competition .. Compiting players like Jaco, Marcus, Richard, Pino, Tony grey, Janek Gwizdala, Gary Willis...and many others is no point because all of them are different. They have their own sound .Yes he is technical but that is his playing I have seen him playing 2 or 3 notes in his song on live gig too as also he had chance to do whatever anyway it is his gig. This is my opinion
wonderful ! hope it won't be deleted, because the video with Richard's solo at second part, was also deleted in youtube.
Super, that's groove !
This is such a brilliant damn composition from Jaco...
