This made me sad. It was a bitter/sweet day when he left the Oregon Coast Aquarium for Iceland. I knew Keiko and loved him. He was my friend and I was fortunate to get to play with him every day at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. I'd like to see his resting place someday. It breaks my heart how he died. I truly believe that he died from a broken heart. I know that he had pneumonia but I believe it was brought on by his loneliness. He loved people so much. Too bad they just didn't let him stay in the big bay pen in Iceland and take him for walks daily instead of just cutting it with him towards the end. But I know that they were under a lot of pressure to make this work and I know they wanted him to find his family but he just wanted to be with people. He was like a giant puppy. He was really special. R.I.P. big guy. I know you are swimming in the oceans of heaven with your family.

Hi. I agree with you that he died from a broken heart. When he arrived in Norway, he appeared in front of a boat with children on board. They were fishing. When they saw him, they got scared and went back to the marina and Keiko followed them there. The children jumped and then swam with him. They, at that time, didn't know it was the famous Free Willy.
I wrote a long post about Keiko on my FB (in my native language) and I cried many times while writing it. Happy to know that my short video has reached many people who had personally seen him.

What a loved orca. Think about all he’s been through and how many times he was moved. He lived longer when he was rescued than before the movie. Yes it stinks he didn’t see his family and was held captive for all these years but think he got 5 years of ocean. He swam with wild orcas.

I feel like I have a connection with him despite never actually getting to see him alive and only finding out about him after his death. Thinking about him and how he passed away and is gone legit makes me sad and cry mind you I’m a 17 year old teenage boy. I just hope he knew we loved him and passed away knowing that and that people fought for him. I hope he found some sorta peace and I hope he’s up there in the skies swimming God looking down smiling
