I must say, this is one of the best renditions of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus I have ever heard. For the first time listening to this piece, I had tears in my eyes. And don't even get me started on the conductor's contagious passion at 2:32. Just marvellous.
I think it has to be the clarity of the trumpets, the voices, and other instruments. I wholeheartedly agree! This is the best rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus I have ever heard in my life!
It’s one thing that Handel wrote this masterpiece within 24 days. That’s a feat. It’s another amazing thing that in the year when Handel was born another genius was born: Johann Sebastian Bach. Although they knew about each other, they never met. It was the same eye doctor who treated them both. God blessed humanity with two geniuses in that year. Germany gave birth to two of the most influential composers of the Baroque era. The Protestant Reformation started by Luther yielded its finest fruits a few decades later when Handel and Bach composed their glorious music to praise God. In order to draw peoples attention to their salvation. God loves humanity. Handel’s Messiah is the testament.
Jesus the Lord Almighty is King of Kings and Lord of Lords! He is going to come and reign. He is the creator, our redeemer. People who received Him as Lord and Savior will reign with Him eternally.. All Glory and Honor to Him alone. Amen!
Fantastic. Hairs on back of my neck prickling and large lump in throat, just as I remember when I used to sing Hallelujah in my youth choir, 50 years ago.
Magnifica interpretación! También me acuerdo cantarlo por primera vez a mis 14 años con mí padre en el coro de la iglesia de Guadalupe hace ya casi 50 años! Siempre me conmueve y ustedes son excelentes! Gracias y Muy Feliz Navidad! Desde Argentina!
Stunning. A reminder of everything we have to be grateful for, even though we may at times feel that we are in seemingly impossible circumstances. Amazing, Thank You
Great performance of the choir who enjoyed every second of it. We can see it in their faces. We can also see the choir director putting his best to make out of this a very emotional rendition. And it was very emotional. Thanks for sharing! My respects goes out to all.
It is amazing that three verses from the Bible can be so moving. Revelations 19:6, 11:15, 19:16. The majesty that everyone recognizes when they hear this song is the Holy Spirit testifying of our Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ. And yes, he is coming. We are ‘in that day’.
I’m thinking this may be a new standard to beat. Has always sounded better on old instruments but with a smaller choir it works better than the usual huge choirs that speakers just really never do justice to. Bravo I think that’s what I’m supposed to be saying here!!!
This masterpiece from Haendel always brings shivers to.my heart as I feel his majesty in humility, The King of Kings is born.. Halleluyah👍 Braviosie Voces 8💝
As soon as the final chord is over, I can't help but hear the opening bars of "I know that my redeemer liveth" in my head. It's like a reflex. God I miss singing Messiah so much.
Georg Friedrich Handel left his mark on his time thanks to his intense and majestic compositions. In this vast fresco composed in 1741, Handel displays all the nuances of his consummate art of sound painting, recycling if necessary some of his Italian duets composed the same year. He drew his inspiration from the music of his native country, Germany, he was inspired by his numerous travels, particularly to Italy, and he was attached to the traditions of his adopted country, England. This oratorio is the subtle balance between the recitatives, few in number, the arias and the choruses contributes to the support of the dramatic action; the intensity is maintained, as is often the case, with great sobriety of means in the writing by virtue to the chord orchestration. His talent and this clever mix have made him one of the greatest composers still performed firmly in the prestigious operas. Many of the master's oratorios are still performed nowadays, but it is truly Messiah which left its mark on the history of music. Music accompanies life! *Lucien* 💙
Oh my gosh this had me crying from the very beginning. Such crisp intonation and diction. Everything is just heavenly. I am still tearing up as I write this. ❤❤❤
Apart from obvious brilliance of the performers and conductor throughout, I really enjoyed the tenor Fsharp blending on the final chord.Best I’ve ever heard.
This is excellent. The vocals and the instruments are well align. I love the way they bring out the dynamics of the song and how they express the articulations. I can ear the trumpets as well as the lower brass and the strings very clear and equal at paste. well played👏👏👏👏👏👏 I love it
This is exactly how I thought we sounded each year in high school when a combined chorus, band and orchestra had a grand finally.... After hearing you, I pulled out my 1985 recording of us doing this and well... to be kind to myself, let's just say you sound better than we did!
It does seem to beg for it! But the quality just falls away when you get these massive choirs singing, and these massive orchestras playing (although I will say, the sound of a mighty choir and a powerful orchestra does do this song justice). This showcases the beauty of old, antique instruments and the utility and clarity of a small choir.
My whole school would learn this and sing it every year as the last song at Speech Night. Still do as a matter of fact. Singing it with 500 people has no comparison.
If it weren't for the sopranos gasping for air, I would say this is probably one of the best rendition of Handel's Messiah! This is the encore of the Revelation of John in the island of Patmos. What a story to behold
They did a lovely job on this it sort of made me feel nostalgic from listening to this it reminded me of when I sang this at my last winter concert in high school such a lovely piece to sing and listen to !!!((:
When Handel had finally finished writing the Messiah, apparently his manservant could get no response from Handel when he knocked on his Master's door to enter. He became a bit worried because he knew he was in there so he decided to enter the room anyway. He said he saw that Handel was at his desk silently sitting there, not moving, with tears rolling down his cheeks but at first would not answer his manservant's questions of concern. Eventually Handel said that he was crying because on finishing the Messiah, he did believe he had just experienced the presence of God, and that God had written the music through him.
I must say, this is one of the best renditions of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus I have ever heard. For the first time listening to this piece, I had tears in my eyes. And don't even get me started on the conductor's contagious passion at 2:32. Just marvellous.

Yes, the joy, passion and energy of the conductor was a delight.
Come on, admit it, who else watched this at full blast whilst being an air conductor? ❤️❤️❤️
I admit: "ME too"!😁
You got me😆😆😆😆
I sang along while it was on repeat. First bass, then tenor then soprano :)
Lol I bet most people did, they’re just too embarrassed to admit it publicly 🤣🤣🤣
I have to agree: I DO!
I need the applause..... What is such profound joyous WORSHIP without letting out the amens and the applause to our great and mighty Lord.
When the drum beats suddenly came I swear I felt I'm being ascended to heaven. This is beautiful beyond words.
3:03 this is my favorite part love this song even years later

Scarlatti was also born in 1685. What a year!

Voces8 videos make me say, "Oh. So THIS is what this piece is supposed to sound like!"
So lovely to see old and new members of Voces8!!! Bravo!
I don't think this piece can get any clearer than this. Perfection imo.
Fantastic. Hairs on back of my neck prickling and large lump in throat, just as I remember when I used to sing Hallelujah in my youth choir, 50 years ago.

Barnaby, you are a masterful conductor.
Yes
Absolutely beautiful. A glimpse and echo of heaven's praise!
The comfort of this Handel’s masterpiece is unfathomable, immeasurable and beyond description
A beautiful rendition of Handel's ageless masterpiece. Merry Christmas everyone ♥️
This is phenomenal! Unbelievable! What a choir, what an orchestra and also: what a conductor.
Stunning. A reminder of everything we have to be grateful for, even though we may at times feel that we are in seemingly impossible circumstances. Amazing, Thank You
💓Great celebration of the birth of the Savior of the Lord Jesus Christ! Amazing Creator! Thank you for saving everyone who believes in Him!💓
Timeless and Excellent rendition of all-times. Glory to God!

Thank you for this at this time in the world. Brings us together from all parts of this world. For a few moments, we are one.
These singers regard their voices as instruments...and it is clear in that the Chorus and the orchestra are as one....SOoooo beautiful....
Amazing. It sounded like a huge choir. Everyone performed with perfection.
It did - but the interleaving of the four parts is so much clearer than it usually is with a much larger choir.
Well done. And with original instruments, including the notoriously difficult natural trumpets.

If you ever have the chance to get to Washington DC to hear the Bach Consort do this at the Cathedral, do it. It's transcendent.

Quelle énergie, quelle beauté, magnifique ! Merci.

ЧУДЕСНО, БОЖЕСТВЕННО !!!!
I like this song
I love Voces8, and they are performing beautifully, I just think Messiah needs a large choir. It begs for it.

Nice performance of this classic song!
