- The Disney Afternoon Collection is a collection of six classic NES games from some of Disney's classic TV cartoons! We got our hands on it and decided to try out the cutest co op ever, playing as Rescue Rangers Chip 'n' Dale! Are we any good at tough 90s games? (Spoiler: we really liked the rewind feature)
The Disney Afternoon Collection is out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows PC.

Luke has been summoned to court to face charges of failing his 90s cartoons, don't worry.
I think he was thinking of 'The Rescuers' rather than 'Rescue Rangers' for a moment... the proposed TV series for which ended up being Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers.

The Rescuers was a motion picture.
chip and dale have been around since the 40's. him getting confused over the rescuers and rescue rangers is fine, but chip and dale were a separate show even before either of those were out.
Well he does say much later "we're not CHipmunks who play by the rules" or something like that. So he figured it out quickly.
Luke: "Alright alright stay focused. Stay frosty. Ellen you're not staying frosty."
Ellen: "What?!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

I think more games should have a rewind button. Life could use one too.

SSX does, but you’re score goes down the longer you rewind.
I played the Castlevania Advance Collection lately and I abused the heck out of the rewind feature whenever I'd make a stupid mistake and end up dead, or when I was low on health and trying to reach a save point to heal up. Makes the game shorter, sure, but it also makes them way less frustrating. I don't have the patience to go through hard areas/levels over and over anymore.

The Danish version was nicely translated, his tagline "Let's get dangerous" was translated to something akin to "Risking the feathers", which is a play on the Danish saying "to risk the fur" meaning having the guts to do something risky/dangerous.

Saw this when it was first uploaded. Watching these lovable goofs muck about again with the game brightens my mood so much!
This game involves co-op where you throw boxes and stuff at dogs and accidentally KO your buddy, who relies on you to revive them, and it's intended for kids. I'm not sure about you guys, but if I played that with my brother there would be a lot of not-accidental KO's...
The joys of co-op games. They don't want you to beat them as much they want you to beat your partner. Did you ever play Battletoads?
Me and my friends continously picked each other up and tried to kill each other. It was truly glorious

but for real tho, these games were my "Dark Souls" childhood.

This brought back some seriously good memories of when I used to play chip and Dale with my grandma, who owned an original NES. Thank you for the nostalgia. Even though grandma isn't here anymore, it is still a very happy memory. Thank you very much.
I remember playing this game also as a kid. I also remember two things about it: first, I loved the show it was based off, and two, it was hard. The enemies didn't give you an inch if you messed up.
This game had completely left my mind until I saw the robot dog and the broomstick thingy boss and I remembered that I had this game.
Awesome memories flooding while watching this.
I think it's been 25 years since I last played Chip 'n Dale. I have fond memories of that game.

Justin Hoar It's a testament to how soft modern gamers are and how easy developers create games nowadays. These old games have simple mechanics that require mastery of said mechanics in order to beat them, and you were limited to a set number of lives/continues. Most newer games give you unlimited tries at very small intervals, with little to no consequence, giving the player far less of a challenge in comparison.
Justin Hoar meh, at least nowadays I can get through a game without getting bored a couple of stages into it because of needing to repeat a stage too many times. also, who has the time for all that when they're not twelve anymore?

I used to play all of these games (and many more) on my NES when I was like 4 and I picked them up for my Retropie a few years ago and still love them. So happy there is a remake box now.

I'm not sure which troubles me more: that you two are probably too young to have watched Rescue Rangers on the actual Disney Afternoon, or that the opening sequence brought back all the confusing feelings I had for Gadget when I was a kid.
You're probably wrond with your first idea (if i had to guess i'd say that Luke and Ellen are about my age and i definitly witnessed the glory days of Disney animated series) and your second thing there is nonsense - Gadget is a nerdy, good looking girl, so nothing wrong with that.
... okay, she is also an animated mouse, but meh ... details ...

This is the sort of quality entertainment I love on RUclips. Luke singing the Ducktales theme tune. Although I am upset we didn't get a rendition of the chip and dale theme.

Hahahaha, this is amazing; I used to play this back when it first came out! My older brother and I used to troll each other so hard with the body-blocking, throwing each other off cliffs, advancing the screen upward to kill the other one, etc. You're missing all the secrets in the boxes!

I'd recommend a video where Luke and Ellen watch the opening themes to 80s, 90s cartoons. Duck Tales, Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck are my favorite =D
Rescue Rangers was the first game i ever bought. I was 7 years old and had saved up my allowance for weeks. The nostalgia factor is high.

....Okay, this went from cute disney game to purgatory for Chip and Dale. No matter how often they are eaten, electrocuted or...impaled up the bum by cacti, they simply cannot die. They are forced to relive the moment over and over again. There is no end to the torment.

Ah man I remember beating this game as a kid. My brother and I could never get the hang of the co-op but we both beat it in single player. We didn't work well together....
I like Chip n Dale 2 more than 1, it had some amazing soundtrack!
