I worked on "Empire Records" and you nailed it! The exterior of the store was a bar called The Ice House on Water St. and was also a location for "Dawson's Creek"-where Joey worked- and yes, was torn down years ago. The roof scenes were partially location and partially on stage 4.
Thanks for doing this!!! I have always wondered if the store was real or not. It looks so real, I can’t believe it’s not a real place sitting somewhere
Thank you for making this ,you have no idea but this movie is the biggest teenage memory I have. I watched this so many times with my friends when I was 15,just turned 42 and watching this Is so nostalgia
Man!!!! congrats from Brazil!! Its for sure the best movie of all times!! i always try to find on google earth the exact location... but the informations were to confused! thank you!! Damn the man, save the empire!!!!
Thanks! I hope you can too! The store is a little underwhelming because it is so unrecognizable, but it was so cool to see it and see the other locations.
Happy Rex Manning Day! Love your videos! I went to Empire Records and other Wilmington locations last year and had a blast. You should join the "All About Filming Locations" Facebook group!
This is so coool. This movie makes me so nostalgic and i didnt know it was filmed in this town. How cool is to bring a light into my curiosity ive had for decades about the location where this movie was filmed. Thank u
You guys rock so much this is awesome so far! 😎 Yup this was very cool too bad they tore down the Gloria estafan painting. Tricky to get the shots but u guys nailed it. I love this channel you guys are super cool.
I went to find the Shop Around the Corner from You've Got Mail in NY and it had become a dry cleaners. Very disappointed. But I did bump into another fan who had the same idea. We both had our phones out taking photos/video of the location, zeroing in from two different angles and then stopped and notice each other. It was like the meet cute in a movie lol.
@@TheMagicGeekdom It was :) I don't want to spoil it for you so I won't share unless you ask, but I've gone adventuring in search of You've Got Mail, Serendipity, Coyote Ugly, When Harry Met Sally, Seinfeld, and Friends and I can tell you what still stands and does not to save you some time. But it is fun to find out on your own. :D Goals for me is Chicago for Wicker Park and While You Were Sleeping. :) I enjoy your videos. Happy adventuring!
Did you go inside rebellion? I went there this past summer and I noticed something odd that when you walk in the door over to the right is what looks like the same staircase that you see behind the register in the film. Now, although the pillars do not match up(which I would be shocked if they were actually able to move them), however the inside of the building was gutted and redone about 4 years ago. Although I am pretty certain that all of the interior was done at stage 4 I just thought it was an odd coincidence. PS- Dawsons Creek was filmed almost entirely in Wilmington.

That's sad that it was gone, but it's sounds like a fun meeting though!

That's interesting. We didn't actually end up going into Rebellion. I think the interiors are all on the stage, but now I'm sad we didn't go in.
Empire Records is so much better then Hi Fidelity & Happy Belated Rex Manning Day ! Awesome video. Subbed 👍
Thanks for the sub!
j'adore ce film !
Happy Rex Manning Day!
belated same to you!
What a great movie !! Dam the man save the Empire !!
Agreed! Such a classic and a very quotable movie. 😀
Wish all of the addresses were disclosed.
That's good idea. We'll try and get those in the next one. Maybe we can add them to the description.
I literally just finished watching this movie 10 minutes ago
The restaurant looks tiny compared to the shop in the film
Movie magic of the interiors being shot on a set.
had the biggest crush on Johnny Whitworth who portrayed art dude AJ
He's still a handsome man. Hehe.
Did they specifically build that Empire records building and demolished right after or something?
The inside was on a sound stage.
The building still stands. It’s a restaurant called Rebellion
