i always get too immersed to the fight that i don't pay attention to what they say.. i always hear people talking about their weird and unique interaction with each captain. but for me, i always miss them. probably because i almost die most of the time, cause i choose the nemesis difficulty option..
if u listen before u fight u can hear easter eggs like orcs talking about the hobbit(movie)
i heard one of the orcs in one of the fortress i take control of saying "what kind of bright lord jumps around and then fall to the ground" as i was falling down from the top of the fortress castle...

I think in mordor, friendly grunts can become a captain this way. Can't confirm tho, never played it

Tip for getting max level orcs (level 60). Start a champion pit fight, send a lower level orc to fight the enemy combatant who will be around 50+, your guy will get murdered, the enemy will get promoted, jump into the arena and defeat the enemy orc, then take control of him. Repeat till your entire army is formed with epic/legendary level 55+ orcs. No need for loot boxes. Git gud. Finished the game (defense fortress stages included) in a week.

Steven Deamon yeah but whats the point in playing the game if you're just gonna do it the easy way. Your technique is the loot box of the grind world.

It only took me around 10-12 hours to get all my fortresses filled up with level 50-60 level orcs. And I wouldn't call it a grind because it's still fun defeating high level orcs. That's the whole purpose of the game, right? Fighting Orcs.

'The Obsessed' captains make for excellent bodyguards. Mine saved my life three times so far and even killed a way higher overlord out of the blue.

Jacob The Cringe Lord I'm pretty sure a branded grunt has a small chance to get promoted after killing an enemy captain in shadow of mordor.
Not sure about shadow of war though.
Amnesix it was actually 100% if there was a weaker captain slot and you waited 1-2 turns

They need to add more fortress defense missions. They are really fun in my opinion. At least make it like an online conquest but online defense. That would be cool.

There's 25 annoying repetitive missions of this. I love the game but the Shadow Wars are absolute AIDS.
Crypto They said they'll add an infinite shadow wars update for everyone, but it already feels like its infinite, how many stages are there.
Unfortunately, online defense would be too easy as it stands. You'd have bodyguards, numbers advantage, etc.

The defense missions are difficult to the point of being infuriating and annoying.
@@_catulus yeah fr. I spend hours leveling my fort and my orcs just so they start bleeding out 5 minutes into the defense

That's a good idea. Except there's one problem....... He has a ring that allows him to bring back the dead, so oppose to wasting time on covering them alive, "murder, turn er, for Mordor" Is what I always say.
I have a little tradition, where I take the main Warchiefs and use Worse than Death to turn them into shells of their former selves. A message to the Dark Lord and all who would defy me!
I like how you really spent time to master this game and not just spend money to get easy gameplay.

Assigning captains as bodyguards to warchief helps with the protection of zones so u can have 4-3 orcs on one zone instead of 1. If u dominated all the orcs in the area.

Its so weird that defeding a fort is harder than taking one. Historically speaking, the defenders during a siege had the advantage. Here it seems that warchiefs have more people on invasions than defending their holds.

I branded my Obsessed in Seregost, made my bodyguard. He completely curbstomped Zog in Fire and Ice mission at Seregost while i drained the totems. I turn back to see how he's doing against Zog, to see him chokeslam and cut away 3 quarters of Zog's health. I would shudder to think what he'd do in yandere simulator.

Honestly, it’s easier, more efficient, and less damaging to your army to just let them take the forts and retake them.

Denglong i finished act 2 in 3 days with only 2 orcs from loot boxes and they were only sacrifices to level up my orcs because they were so weak

On my first defence and I've got one bad guy to find.. but he's not showing up in wraith mode and appears to not be anywhere on the whole blue area.. everyone keeps saying to me defend the courtyard.. but I've been everywhere and I really have no idea what's the deal with it? Should I restart?

You actually can, it replaces the elven rage perk though
I suggest getting the dash Dodge upgrade. Its convenient for dealing with with problems dealing with frost proof and vault breaker orcs especially. But be sure to be wearing the nazgul armour that makes it cost no focus.

What gear do you have?
Here is a better defence strategy:
Make your Overlord and Warchiefs level 60. Then put these bonuses in place for defence. They work wonders for me:
Metal Walls
Iron Gates
Poisonous Siege Beasts
Hellfire
Spiked Walls
Poisonous Mines
Also, focus on the enemy Warchiefs and not the Captains. Your defence will be done quickly and you'll have a lot less chance of losing Victory Points and gaining more Warchiefs to defeat as well as a result. Also, recruit any enemy Warchiefs when you get the chance. This means more will fight for you.
Why is his wriath greenish? Isn't it usually light blue? Or is it just the recording?

Bloody hell, this is a true Horde Mode right there. And speaking of Warchiefs as well as Captains here, given how they`re all below Level 60, do you need to keep them that way in order to stop mass betrayals? Since I had seen lots of people having trouble with mass betrayals.

So i occupied 2 fortresses, and i have a question - will some orc try to capture one of these?
Real players yes but story mode sieges you have to active yourself
How do i trigger this?
3rd orc iv seen say tailion. Though one I recruited betrayed me and gained iron will so was forced to put him down. Was one of the most badass orcs iv seen so far tattoos and pirate getup
Just spam shame them and the iron will, will go away eventully
İ got the nazgul ring,but in mu computer,talion does not have dark-yellow eyes.

once i fought max warchiefs and captains with my overlord in defence and managed to kill them all without going down once in normal mode

Does anybody know how to get more warchiefs for their fortress because i still only have 2. Do you just have to buy the extra slots on the defense menu and if so do they remain even after shadow wars?
Noah Wood on the army screen press the button for siege upgrades and the more slots you allow for war chiefs on the defensive side is how many war chiefs you can put in there (max 6).

What's the best way to level up my Captains? Advance time and New orcs and then kill them?
Will Samuel follower missions. Also sending them into the pits to face off against other captains. Be sure not to send them into a fight they cant win though! And if they do lose in the pits recruit the guy that killed him
1. Find a good captain
2. Let your captain fight against a useless glob captain
3. Your captain wins and levels up(gets ranked up to Epic if possible)
4. Rinse and repeat
5. ???
6. Legendary captains profit
