I love him because he played for uga, I respect him because of that browns game. I may talk shit about the Lions, but I'll forever defend Matthew Stafford as a good quarterback
Liam Klomp I'm the only lions fan in my school. People call me a lions try hard fan. I get mad at the lions once in a while but I will always be a fan like when they lost 5 straight game in the 2016-2017 season
10,000 Subscribers without Videos You seeing the yards he puts up? I think his worst ever season is about 4200 yards. He could break a lot of passing records and end up in the Hall of Fame
10,000 Subscribers without Videos Just saying, the dude has 34’000 passing yards, and he’s only 29. That’s nearly as much as Aaron Rodgers who is 6 years older. It’s fairly likely Stafford will be top 10, all time, by the age of 33-34. Just saying, a lot can happen in football, but if he’s still playing at a consistently high level when he’s 35-36 he’s almost guaranteed to break the all time passing record
I really don't understand the hate stafford gets, I am not even close to a lions fan.. never cared for them either but damn this guy is an athlete and under pressure one of the most reliable QB's at current
I love Stafford. He may not be Tom Brady, but he doesn't have to be. He represents toughness and a will to win that no Detroit QB has ever had. Love that he got a contract extension.
I'm a 49ers fan and I like Matthew Stafford. this dude has guts. reminds me of the tough qbs the NFL use to have. Detroit don't take this guy for granted.
I certainly do not. But there are many fans here who seem to have forgotten about every terrible QB that played for the Lions between Bobby Layne to Stafford, all because Stafford can't "win the big one"
King Ape he has played 2 postseason games and both were bad teams you can’t just judge him off that and in 1 he should’ve won but we not gone speak on refs
Caleb Whitted We're not that bad. All you people are just basing us on the fact we're historically bad. I'm pretty freaking sure no one from then is on the team... But if you want to base them on history, go back to when they won championships
Michael Lorietta No they wouldn't... The only bad area for us is the secondary because Slay is injured and the half back position because Ameer is hurt.
Stafford is a beast and he's finally getting the recognition he deserves. The best deep ball in the game IMO and him throwing that game winning TD against the Browns with his messed up shoulder is one of my favorite NFL moments ever.
This man literally dislocated his shoulder, then came back in and threw a game-winning TD 2 yrs ago. He also played through hurt with fractures in his back for half a season. This dude is a BEAST
Matthew Stafford is good choice for number 1. He is not a media hog, he is not a whoa is me guy. He will scream at the mac and tell you what he is going to do and he will do it.
Ever since that browns game i have had the utmost RESPECT for Stafford. Dude is a machine and will always keep playing. He's a great leader and player.
This isn't about championships. Being the #1 mic'd up player is about having the mic on during incredible moments on the field. Nobody has been mic'd up for more late comeback drives than Stafford. There are other awards, like the Lombardi trophy, and the rings themselves, that are given to the champions. If you don't understand this then I really can't explain it any better to you.
Freshman in HS when I first saw him drafted and now I'm 27. Thank you for making my HS/College Sundays the greatest. Hope you finally win it all with the Rams.
Some disrespectful people in the comments. How many QBs in the league would have done that. Especially for a sad franchise like the Lions. Stafford deserves respect. Don't have to like him but he cares a lot about football.
What an absolute tremendous throw he made to Calvin Johnson. He saw the one on one coverage, then just fired it to the perfect spot where Johnson can make a play.
I was at that 2009 game against the Browns. My dad, uncle and my uncle's friend were there with me as well. We were initially going to leave but we stayed. I still have no idea how we pulled it off. I had no idea Matthew was hurt because everyone was going absolutely bezerk when the flags were thrown for pass interference in the endzone. We were in the upper section right over the goaline since some people had already left. The touchdown was awesome. Matthew pulled it off!!!! Great moment that I will always remember. In fact, that was actually the last Lions game I attended until this year on Thanksgiving, and there was a new hero to see, which happened to be Darius Slay. Lions evolve and so do we.
As a Lion’s fan we take the joys when we can……this was amazing to see……also Stafford to Calvin Johnson was beauty….and while I’m at it…..anything that Barry did……..

The second time was in 2015 when he threw like 9 interceptions and 4 touchdowns the first 6 games of the season. I was at that Cowboys vs. Lions game on October 27th, 2013 and as a Lions fan I highly doubt I'll ever witness live another game as epic as that one. Crazy comeback led by Matthew Stafford and Megatron with 329 yards. I don't know if Calvin Johnson had a TD that game (1 I believe), but he was tackled at the 1 yard line 3 times. The Lions were I think 6-4 after that game heading into a bye with the NFC North lead. Lions fans were extremely thrilled leaving Ford Field. The only disappointing thing was the next day on all the national sports shows all they were talking about was Dez Bryant's outburst on the sideline. Who cares about that! That was an awesome comeback! Loved Stafford's emotions on the microphone. I do remember hearing them once before from the Cowboys game. I never heard the Browns one before, but that was great as well.

Stafford could throw 60 yards frozen rope when he was 14 years old. Literally. Best and strongest arm in the history of football.
Thank you packers fan. Hope to see my Stafford vs your rodgers showdown for the NFC north last game!

great QB for a lowly franchise. I hope that one day they win a SB for their fans.

Miguel Rivera Jr at least someone believes in the lions #onepried

I don't go for the Lions but he deserves a ring
