  • In this video I talk about the changes I made so this engine could be used in my RV6A kitplane. I have about 130 hours flying it now with no problems with the engine at all.

    Whats the hp output. Would this work on a kitfox series 7. I know they had used the viking 130hp on them before. My kit comes in, in Nov 24. I need to start considering engine options. Most likly the rotax 912uls but your design is amazing. You are brilliant.

      Good luck your Kitfox, great airplane for sure. I want to add that my engine install was NOT a Viking Engine installation. The only part of my set up that was Viking was the Gearbox. (Viking no longer sells gearboxes by themselves.) The rest I created myself. I used the R18 which stock is about 145 may be a bit more. I added a turbo to it and added very little boost, about 4 psi. So I would guess that I was only developing about 170 may be 180 HP tops. I was very happy with it. Flew it for about 250 hours and sold it.

    Is there anyway to contact you (or visit your location) to learn more? Thanks ... by the way, great work! Proving the "naysayers" and "skeptics" of auto power plant applications inaccurate.

    Hi did you blocked off the heater coolant flow housing, if so where did you buy the block off plate?😊

      Yes I made my own. Just 1/4 aluminum and gasket sealant.

    Also how much have you found magneto's for, about 1500$ for me :/

      The gearbox I use is no longer available from the company Viking Aircraft Engines (unless you buy one of their engines). The Pietenpol is a great airplane. I suggest you contact Vasilli at airtrikes.net. I think he has a good reputation on his SPG gearbox as well as in providing Susuki engines. Good luck. (I do not use magnetos, I just electronic ECU made by SDSEFI - a fantastic set up.

      @@charosenz woah man that really helped, thank you!! I will definitely look at their gearboxes when I install the engine! Good prices and proven reliability. Priceless!!

    How much was the gearbox? I'm looking to fit a Suzuki G13B to a Pietenpol air camper (in the making) and I'm budgeting :)

    Curious of how many pounds of boost it's running at full power climb and cruise? Also do you have fuel burn numbers at cruise and full power?
    I know you feel that this Honda engine is nearly bullet proof internally but "I Do Cars" channel tore down a 1.4L GM ecotech turbo engine from a chevy Cruze and compared the piston rod thickness to one of a Honda Fit or Civic and the thickness differences were HUGE. Therefore, I would be careful with the amount of boost your engine is pushing since the piston rods really wasn't designed for turbo charging. I'll link that video if your channel allows it?

      The Turbo is there to normalizing MAP at higher altitudes. My statement about Honda engines was in general as to how they compare to the industry as a whole. This is a good engine for my application.

      Thank you for the kind words. I am asking $52k. Empty weight is a under 1100 lbs. Gross is 1800 lbs.

    Do you know how much HP you are producing with the Turbo install?

    • @charosenz
      @charosenz  Год назад +1

      It is really a component on how much boost you choose to use. I am conservative using a few lbs of boost usually only on Take Off. Which would work out to be about 160 - 170HP.
