South Canyon 1994- "Requiem" by the Colorado Springs Philharmonic

"South Canyon 1994" (Requiem for the Fallen)- performed live by the Colorado Springs Philharmonic."South Canyon 1994", is a requiem for the fallen wildland firefighters who lost their lives on July 6th, 1994 .
The work was performed on July 4th, 2012, at the World Events Arena, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The music was written by Patrick Michael Karnahan who worked as a United States Forest Service Wildland firefighter for 22- fire seasons with the agency.
A second composition, also written by Patrick Michael Karnahan, was performed in concert that night entitled, "Into the Fire". The song was performed by award winning cowboy singer Michael Martin Murphey. Both songs received a standing ovation from the audience.
The event was organized to benefit victims of the recent Waldo Canyon Fire, the largest wildfire in Colorado's history. The event sold out with 80,000 people in attendance. Those that could not purchase a ticket could see the event through network television stations throughout the Rocky Mountains. It is estimated that three million people saw the event.
