My partner and I adopted a blind Staffy from a shelter after he was found wandering the streets, almost starved to death. He's the gentlest, most emotionally intelligent, and all-round wonderful dog I've ever had. Absolutely LOVE Staffies!!

wow what a pleasure to find, i wish i could have found this years ago, lovely staffies, and have to agree i wouldn't let any other dog near my children except a staffie, especially these quiet Labradores etc, they cant be bothered with children but staffies are total WHOLE family dog, yes charlie, the original and only nanny dog,

This breed is just as good as any other and don't get the credit or opportunities they deserve. I'm glad more and more forces are recognising them for detection/protection/service work. Just such a shame so many sat in rescues that could be trained up.

I’ve got 2 staffers one a rescue who is now 10 and wee Lucy just turned 2 I’ve had few types of dogs over the years and they are by far best dogs I’ve had so friendly and affectionate hate it when they a tarred as bad dogs

Stafford's are the greatest breed on the planet but I love all breeds of dogs.
It's really interesting to see the YT threads are all mostly positive comments compared to 10 years ago. Glad that the media and animal programmes have been changing the narrative for the staffie. Can't believe PETA views in 2020 though.

Why can't my Staffy be a fraction as smart, athletic, and amazingly as talented as one of those dogs? Geez.... Well, at least she makes up for that by being extremely affectionate and amusingly clownish.... 😄 Sure wish they'd train my dog to do some of those things, I'm a very loving owner but unfortunately not good at training her..... 🤔

If staffys weren't dog/ prey aggressive it would be the perfect breed. I don't trust mine 100% with other dogs unfortunately, kind of like owning a cheetah sometimes..
Weird...my staffy has never attacked another dog, but he was jumped twice, once by a lab, once by a Husky. Both episodes only lasted seconds, but in both cases my dog got scratched up but the other dogs had no sign of any altercation whatsoever.
No bulldog or bull and terrier breed should be 100% trusted around dogs. But you can still let them play with other dogs (No dog parks!) just supervise carefully, watch body language and as always have a break stick ready and know how to use it.
Fractal Universe I bring mine to the dog park every single day. While there are often scuffles between dogs, mine is rarely involved.
Pestilence Nigh my staffy loves other dogs, it depends on their upbringing. how correctly socialized they were
It is always wise to be cautious with your dog around other dogs, some are very good while others are dog aggressive. Staffs are tenacious not pugnacious so even though your Staff might not start a fight he will for sure try and finish it and you can also be sure that it will be the Staff that gets the blame for the fight no matter who started it. Still despite this drawback they are the best breed of dog as far as I am concerned no other breed even comes close.

One of only two breeds recommended to be with children ?!? BS!!! Most dogs whether pure bred or not are suitable to be with children.
"they are not scared of anything," - Scary dogs. Own one if you want that trait and shame that you feel you must have this type of dog
fman4234 you just don't understand the psychology of dogs. Let me educate you. Being "not scared of anything" is one of the reasons why they are so good with children/families. Being not scared of anything means they don't get startled easy/skittish/afraid.
A dog that is afraid is more dangerous than a dog that isn't. A scared dog is more likely to bite. A scared dog is more likely to think it has to defend tself and is in danger so will become aggressive.
You are looking at "not being scared of anything" as a trait that means the dog will be more aggressive. Wrong. So wrong it hurts my brain.

I guess my point about "scary dogs" might be more clear here: While what you say may have merit, (although I'd add that "nervous" dogs can be more? dangerous) in the real world these dogs (pits) have a propensity to attack. Ok, call them "not afraid" but "less aggressive?" Um... how about "deadly" when they do attack. I have four first-hand experiences, two involving death. One with an ostensibly "family" pit - a happy dog in a loving family (I even took it trail running with me twice) who snapped and attacked a little dog on a walk with its family. (the loving, "not scared" pit had to be put down lest a lawsuit would have ensued. A sad story either way). The other, a pit in my neighborhood, attacked my friend's chihuahua; she tried to protect it in her arms while the pit had it in his "scary dog" jaws. The chihuahua died, needless to say (a truly horrific and emotionally scarring incident as you might imagine - it hurts my brain to think back to that day). I'll so choose "scared" dogs over a "not scared" deadly pit any day.
Want more anecdotal evidence? In my many decades of recreating in my dog-friendly town, I've been attacked just three times by dogs. One, yep you guessed it, a pit. One, a pit cross. The last one doesn't support my argument, it wasn't a pit, but I gotta be honest and credible with disclosure. Anyway, I'm sure you can guess that I will not be convinced that pits are a scary breed?
Want more evidence? It is common knowledge that deadly attacks by dogs are FAR more likely with pits than with any other breed. I can site sources but I'm sure you know this - even if it hurts your brain.

You are talking about pit bulls. I'm talking about the dogs in the video which are Staffordshire bull terriers. Original English Staffordshire bull terriers.
The pit bull (which is classified as an American Staffordshire bull terrier) is a cousin of the English staffy and and has had different traits to the English staffs bred into it over the years essentially to make the dog into what it was when it was first bred. A fighting dog.
Pit bulls (American staff) is about 20 pounds bigger and more likely to have had that killer instinct bred back into it.
I hate pit bulls.
I witnessed myself, a pit bull kill a Staffordshire bull terrier. The cunt of an owner had 3 staffies and an illegal pit bull. He was a neighbour. I Came outside to see the pit locked on to the staffy which took the owner about 10 minutes of beating the shit out of the pit for it to release the staffy. He then told us the aggressive dog was a pit bull. I was young at the time so my dad called the police and rspca as the pit bull is illegal in the uk.
I know some people love pit bulls and there are some great ones out there but I will always trust a well bred Staffordshire bull terrier over a pit bull (American Staffordshire bull terrier. I'm not saying that a staffy can't turn into a monster but it's less likely to over a pitbull.
+ I have to admit I am biased as I have been around Staffordshire bull terriers for 30 years.

Amanda Mitchell most Americans don't even realise that there is a breed called a Staffordshire bull terrier. They see every dog of that shape being a pit bull , ( though It can be quite hard sometimes for people that haven't spend a lot of time around staffys to be able to tell the difference.)
