I have been trying to get deprogrammed for almost 20 years. But God knows the materialistic education and association I received before joining the Hare Krishna Movement takes time to get rid off 😅

It is remarkable to see the father of the girl, the representative Hare Krishna Devotee and the deprogrammer all sitting side by side and bring forth their arguments .. quite peaceful. It's consoling in way 😊

The father's comments would almost be comical, if they were not so sad. His subtext was "she dressed conservatively, did not drink or take drugs, did not participate in illicit sex, or want to kill animals... all very foreign to us." People fear what they do not understand, and he is too close minded to see.
I'm cool with you guys except about the vegan part... why would I take a damage to my own physical health unnecessarily? of course the "debate" about veganism supposedly actually being healthier is a whole other issue. but Hare Krishna generally seems like a very positive and wholesome movement, and I think the chanting stuff (which I'm even starting to do a little) is good for psychological health, which is why the veganism thing surprises me so much
@@dansman1729 They are not vegan, they are vegetarian. They cook in ghee (clarified butter, use a lot of cheese (mostly curds), and have about 100 desserts made from milk. They are vegetarian. They believe in reincarnation, and believe all animals have souls.
If someone doesn't believe (or tolerate) the concept of reincarnation, the Hare Krishna movement won't make a lot of sense to them. The International Society For Krishna Consciousness exists to encourage unsuccessful transcendentalists to pursue the highest expression of God consciousness, Krishna Consciousness. We will preach to anyone willing to listen, we will answer all pertinent questions, but it's a waste of time to debate a hostile party who cannot tolerate our regulative principles. The four regulative principles are: No meat, fish, or eggs. Meat eating destroys mercy. No intoxication. Intoxication destroys discipline. No gambling. Gambling destroys honesty. No illicit sex. Illicit sex destroys cleanliness. These principles are yogic principles, any sincere seeker is automatically attracted to them. We understand that spiritual advancement is a continuum, that complete surrender to the Supreme Personality may take many, many births to achieve. I suggest that any critic of ISKCON is an atheist opposed to any religious pursuit, and any restrictions of any religion. They just reserve their most extreme vitriol for ISKCON.
Anti-theism is different from atheism, lots of atheists are fine or supportive of religious organizations Why does meat-eating destroy mercy? eggs too?
@@SneedEnjoyer I mean, I have been going on and off to ISKCON Houston and Gaudiya Math for years and years now and no one has ever pressured me to do anything, so that’s an interesting way for a “cult” to operate where the people there 24/7 don’t seem to give a shit besides liking you.
