I wish I knew what was so fascinating about watching water go down a drain. But it's almost like sitting and watching a campfire. It's just mesmerizing for some reason.
I started out watching lawn service guys clean up yards, some were like jungles! Then I started watching pressure washing videos....love those! And now I'm on to drain cleaning. I think that's the key. Watching dirty things become clean again. They are so addicting!!
officially: reason to unclog it is to prevent flodding and but he also likes to watch it reality: reason to unclog it is to watch it but also may prevent flodding
hey looks like were not the only ones shooting a drain vertically nice!!! Its always good to see this one it frees up the street and two its fun to watch
I guess the city needs to invest in sticks and new employees cause that shouldn't be happening. I don't know how long it had been since it rained, but it looks a its been a minute or two. Dirty people throwing trash out in the street doesn't help either
Agree wholeheartedly. I just happened to be walking by after having breakfast at a local restaurant and came across this on my way home. Looking around, I came across a stick and thought I would give it a try and it worked. Street sweeping in Chicago starts in April and hadn't started yet when this video was made.
Anyone else thinking how much grime and oil are going into the sewage system with this? Then I remembered it's Chicago and this was probably cleaner than their tap water most days.
Yes alderman storm drains. I lived in San Fernando CA during the earthquake. Northridge Meadows had collapsed out near csun University. The flooding went into the apartment complex years before and caused wood rot, thusly the first floor imploded under pressure collapsed and killed most victims deaths from Northridge quake were from Northridge Meadows. Go figure alderman that previously the city inspector said the building was safe.... Kinda of a coincidence either George bush senior resmbles you or you resemble George bush Sr.
If he had done what he did at the end at the beginning, it would have taken all the shit next to the drain with it. Instead now it will just clog again next time it rains.
Good idea, except I happened to come across this flooded street that was 3 blocks from my home, so I had nothing with me to gather up the debris. Wanting to do something, I searched the area and found a stick nearby and used that to unplug the sewer catch basin. Street sweeping started a few weeks later and there was never a problem after that one simple fix.
Thanks. Had there been a rake nearby, I would have used one. The issue was this flooded street was about 3 blocks from my home, and I happened to see a stick on the parkway and used that.
Why must RUclips users chose this terrible video format?!? The screen above is 854 pixels wide and 480 pixels high. However, the actual video part is only 270 pixels wide by 480 pixels high. 854 x 480 is 409,920 pixels. 270 x 480 is 129,600 pixels. (129,600/409,920) x 100 = 31.616% of the screen being utilized. I bet this wasteful video was record with a cell phone.
Yes, it was recorded with a cell phone, which makes it all the more special..... it was completely unplanned. I saw a problem while on my way to do a simple errand, looked first for a simple fix, and recorded it.
Chigobwyn Quorev we don't care about the format, we want to see him unclog a fucking drain. nothing else. as long as we can see it happening it's fine.
@Chigobwyn,:and you wasted 302 characters saying that. That's 302 characters x 76,247 views. So you just wasted 302 x 76,247 = 23,026,594 people-characters of wasted human attention reading your asinine comment.

Believe me.... when I posted this, I would have never in a million years thought this would be so popular.

I can't believe you guys just stood there and watched it. But I also can't believe I just sat here and watched you. Nice job.

People performing civic duties like this is what we need more of these days. Thank you sir.
Just think how quick he could have been if he'd had Post 10's rake!
Or just a regular rake
If he had his rake it would have taken just a few seconds!!
I love how I was just on his channel seeing his uncloghong videos!
Just think it could have been if he poked more holes!
Post 10 is a dork
Wow you almost got that whole drain cleared! Now it needs a good rain to wash all that debris away, then a good raking. Thank you! More of these!
hey looks like were not the only ones shooting a drain vertically nice!!! Its always good to see this one it frees up the street and two its fun to watch
We're all just little boys playing in the water, no matter how old we get.
EXACTLY!!!! I have always wondered why this video became so popular, and you've given the best explanation yet. ;-)
@@JamesCappleman "Growing old is mandatory......growing UP is OPTIONAL"
You did your good deed for the day. Good for you!! Nice job.
Good job
James Cappleman.
Was I the only one imagining a car driving through puddle while he poking about?
They would have rear ended his car....
Never knew this is a thing ,but it is satisfying, good work.
post10 approves!!!! 👍
Thank you Humble Man.
This is better than John Wick with a pencil.
awesome video, thank you Sir
The street savvy version of popping a zit...complete with the feel good reward.

Este señor ha hecho más con un palito q muchos ayuntamientos
You could use a shovel and broom, its even preventable if somebody sweeps occasionally. .

Post 9?
Thinking same
Post 10 fan here!!!
doesn't that city have street sweepers? and if so do they actually use them? because this could've been prevented
Can't be everywhere all at once. Instead of waiting for other people to do it, maybe keep the drain in front of your house clear (if you have one).
Love this guy!
We all be like: "How dare you stand where he(post 10) stood!"(he stands there till this day 😅)
Well you’ve gotta crawl before you can walk 🤣🤣🤣
Anyone else thinking how much grime and oil are going into the sewage system with this? Then I remembered it's Chicago and this was probably cleaner than their tap water most days.
Couldn't he find a smaller stick?
you could just use your hand, getting your hands dirty, and do more than what the stick could do. Or call Post10
Youre afraid of alligators or why that stick ?
I'm more afraid of broken glass, and I didn't have any gloves on me when I happened to be walking by..... my home is around 3 blocks away.
@@JamesCappleman How could humans survive for about thousands of years without gloves .....
@@HennerJung They also had a very short life span. ;-)

Good job
Post 10s dad
Post 10 would be proud^^
It’s fun to play with water, it’s not matter about the age!
You did the one of the dont's, never use portrait mode.
Why do I keep watching this ?
What is wrong with me?
good job
The local authority needs to clean the drains out as its their job
Micheal Wain in america, the people are the authority.
Public service? :)

It needs someone that cares to clean the day gold thing out

The least you could do is learn to turn your phone the right damn direction and film it that way
