I've been shopping for tires and have watched many videos. This is the best one so far, I know there are other tires that could have been included, but your content is excellent. Thank you
I have the ko2 tires and they have proven themselves during this blizzard Texas just went through . I have them on my gladiator and are a great all around tire
Ridge grapplers rock! On the rocks and on the highway! Very quiet on the road, but air them down and they will roll everything. Ran into some snow issues in Peyson, but only chains would have worked!
I have a 2001 Ford Expedition 4wd AWD and just put on 285 75 R 16 on my stock rims BF Goodrich All T. They look great and they have a 50,000 mile warranty. Mostly highway traffic driving and we’ll be off road ten soon. I got the truck a year ago and been busy getting it up and going to be safe etc.
Wow, I didn't even know the Cooper S/Twas still available! I ran a set of these almost 20 years ago on my lifted ZJ Grand Cherokee. I loved them, in anything other than packed snow they were phenomenal. And I remember being surprised at how they didn't really increase the noise level, nor ruin my fuel economy. I also think they look great. At the time the sidewall was fairly aggressive, it looked about the same as the BFG KO. I would totally run a set of these on my 5th gen 4Runner.
Can you include the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac and Interco TrXus tires on your off-road comparison? The need and use on Snow Packed roads is virtually always overlooked in tire comparisons. Not everyone lives in or near the Arizona or California desert. When the snow melts.....a good mud tire is needed. Not many choices out there for a narrow tire with good lugs that have siping. For both mud and snow use....the Interco TrXus tire along with two Goodyear Wrangler tires...the DuraTrac is great and MT/R with Kevlar is good. The Goodyear Wrangler tires have decent lugs for mud...and siping to bite on snow packed roads. Most Toyo and Nitto tires are great for sand and mud use......but not the best for snow. Furthermore, Toyo tires tend to be a smidge wide compared to other tires...better for sand, but not the best for snow. The Falken A/T3W is great for snow, but not so good in the mud. Not many choices for a great mud tire with lots of siping to grip on snow packed roads. It would be awesome if the Goodyear Wrangler tires were made in a more narrow width...like the Nitto Trail Grappler M/T 37 x 11.50 - 20 ----> and this tire needs siping on the lugs. Yes.....NOT 12.50.....Nitto makes a 37 x 11.50 - 20. Actual Nitto measurements are 36.77 x 11.42.
I have Duratracs on my 2017 Landcruiser look great and perform awesome from sand snow and mud. I wanted a hybrid tire looked at Nitto Ridge Grapplers, Mickey Thompson AT, and Maxxis Razor AT 811 but none had the three peak snow rated which helps when in the mountains.
Comparing Mud Terrain and an All Terrain isn't really a fair comparison as far as performance goes. You'll either be good in mud or good in all terrains. Personally I drive on any ground no matter what it is covered with. The only tire that I can vouch for is the BFGOODRICH ALL-TERRAIN. I have a 98 XJ with more than 330,000 miles on it. The factory Wranglers wore out somewhere around 35-38,000 and gave poor performance. The other 280,000+ miles have been on the BFGOODRICH ALL-TERRAIN in 31X10.50 15 . I also have a 2017 Expedition with 120,000+ miles on it with the BFGOODRICH ALL-TERRAIN in a 35X12.50X18's . Both vehicles have 3" lifts. With that said, I wheel alone so yes I intentionally avoid places where I could strand myself but don't think for a minute that I don't push my luck to the maximum because I do have a 12,000 lb winch. The BFGOODRICH ALL-TERRAIN has never let me down and I have always gotten 60,000+ miles out of them. This is my personal experience. I have been tempted to purchase other brands and styles over the years but I know that I would end up going back with the BFG's on the next set, why bother changing.
Thanks for the review! It's been a year now and a lot has happened! Please make a new one and include the Hankook Dynapro MT2. Not the MT, the MT2. Thanks again!
I love watching your videos can you do a video on 37-in tires mostly all-terrain or hybrid I bought 37 bgs ko2s and I was very disappointed to see that they're not true 37s and they're not true 12.5 it's almost like the robbing us
What about the Mickey Thompson's 33 tall tires wait all-terrain Baja boss with a 17-inch rim and how much weight is the Mammoth steel rim with the bullet holes
You left out the toyo open country, open country mt, and the copper discovery stt and stt pro. I've run two sets of the stt's and i was never disappointed. They lasted a long time and always got me out and through anything i through at them and not one flat. I'm running the toyo open country hybrid this time and so far so good. Ps wanted to run another set of Cooper but did not have that kind of money this time around. All tires have been 35x12.50R17. Running them on an 05 dodge ram 1500 with 6in lift. Hoping for some 37's next time around.
BFG KO2 have been absolutely trash for me. I've had 2 trucks with them and I would get flat tires so easily and 1 set wore out quickly. Idk why. I rotate every 5k miles. It was very interesting at 20k they seemed to get lose bigger chunks. Maybe a bad set of tires?? Idk. I found it to be very odd
Question on Ironman All Country M/T Any experience in the snow?? I live in CO and I'm considering the Ironman MT to change things up a little, having said that I'm also aware that several other tire designs would be considerably better for my uses technically IE a dedicated highway/snow, winter tire... Currently on my 2nd set of Kanati trail hog A/T and I'm very happy with them overall. But I'm looking for something new with the specific look of the MTs. Now I fully understand I can't expect MTs to do as well as dedicated "winter tires".. or maybe not as well as ATs having said that.. But I also want to make sure they would be safe and confidant in snow/ice etc. Specifics: Looking into the 33X12.50R20 for a Chevy 2500HD Driving conditions: 600+ miles a week, unloaded daily driver, mostly highway. Light to medium trails fairly often, really no hard aggressive off-roading.
Put one more question mark in there and maybe they’ll listen. How can anyone expect anybody doing a review for something like tires cover everyone’s favorites when opinions differ so much?
Icutmetal I wish it was my opinion it’s a fact those tires are probably the best in climbing situations not to mention regular road situations watch light Brite on RUclips they go over these tires and compare them to almost everyone on the market and they show it in a video how they climb the outperform them all that’s all I was trying to state
The Hankook Dynapro MTs are hard compound and terrible on road, the Hankook Dynapro MT2 is a clone of the Toyo Open Country and perform well. The Cooper ST lineup all share the same tread pattern and they are all terrible in all conditions, especially mud and snow. The best tires I have run are the Maxxis Bighorn, super long lifespan and great in the mus and quiet on road. Also I really liked the Interco Trxus MT, great in all conditions.
Curious as to what load range you’re running on the JL? Just got a set of load range e tires for my JT and can’t seem to find the correct pressure for them for on road contact patch
In your opinion, what is the quitest running mud tire and the quitest hybrid tire? I want to run 32" (if available) on some 15" diameter wheels for my stock 1986 Toyota 4x4. I've run this size in BFG All Terrains which were great, but not good in the mud. I moved to 33" Mud Kings which were awesome in the mud, but loud and I lost my 5th gear when moving to that size. Granted, this was nearly 30 years ago and I realize tires have changed a lot. I plan on this being an everyday driver after so quietness is good but I hunt so I need a little grip for mud. I appreciate any expert advise you can give.
I was wondering the same thing. I had a set of those years ago and would love another set. Not that the S/T MAXX is a bad tire, I just feel like the older S/T would be better on packed Snow/Ice due to the siping.
Travis Augustine I love the old S/T. Had them on my toyota for years during the summer and fall hunting trips. I never tried them in snow or ice because use studded winters.
Hi I have a 2020 Tacoma TRD off rd I currently have wrangler Duratrac 265/70/16! But so noise on the rd. With a 3 inch lift looking to go 285/70/16 or 17 if they will fit! Big point more highway type tire quit. But ruggered look like my wranglers Thanks
Get the Nitto ridge grapplers in a 265/70R17 in a SL load range you won’t regret them. But if u live in super cold snowy and winter areas then look at the Toyo AT3! 👍🏻
Im looking for a 37in MT for my Power Wagon that can handle rock and sand. I dont care about road noise or getting 50k miles out of it. All I can about is it wont start hydroplaning on wet roads when driving relatively safely. Will the Ironman MT be able to do handle sand, rocks, and not lose control doing 60 on a wet highway?
The BF Goodrich KO2 tires have kevlar reinforced tread. You also want to look at the tread and the void ratio. How well does the tread 'solidify' when it goes across a stump or other item that could puncture it? I would go with the BFGs. Hope this helps.
Can you even get the Cooper ST anymore? I had them on a 1997 F350 and thought they were a classic good looking tire that drove well, but were a tad on the loud side and were greasier than I was comfortable with on packed snowy roads.
Are you sure the fuel 35x12.5 mud gripper weights 54 pounds cause i just checked and they weigh 76 pounds and if im wrong can you please give me the part number for the tires cause i really want some light weight 35's for my jeep jt to save as much gas as possible
I got the nittos ridge grapplers 35s on 20x12 black rhinos with 2 inch mopar lift on my JT it's my daily for now its giving me 14 mpg if not a lil more. No such thing as saving gas when owning a Jeep lol.

Nice tires, but I ended up buying a set of Yokohama’s M/T 003s, 35s, 17 in. 12 inches wide. Great tread and a great price point.
Very nice!
I'm confused, why include all these M/T tires and the Cooper STs, but not the STT Pro?

BF Goodrich all terrain is the best tire! No question!
